Sonic Unleashed Trademarked

It’s pretty well known that “Sonic Unleashed” was trademarked earlier March 2008 by Sega, but we haven’t really seen anyone actually showing the evidence of the trademark. So, just in case you are as curious as we were, here is the official Sonic Unleashed trademark information page.

There isn’t a whole lot to see there except for the name, and the fact that it was registered by Sega Corp of Japan. Regardless, we wanted to make sure that this information was concrete, especially since most of the other information we’ve heard have all been rumors.

BREAKING: Sonic Unleashed Cover Art for Nintendo Magazine and Play Magazine

sonic-unleashed-coverart.jpg

SEGA, this is really brilliant. As if leaking nearly 70 Sonic Unleashed Screenshots on your public FTP server wasn’t enough, you also managed to accidentally slip in exclusive Sonic Unleashed artwork for the covers of Official Nintendo Magazine and Play Magazine? Oh, this is great.

Well folks, a lot of people speculated that some of those screenshots were cover art for these two magazines, but today, we can confirm it for you. Both the Official Nintendo Magazine, and Play Magazine were given this Sonic Unleashed Art to use on their covers. We’re not sure when they’ll hit the shelves, but it could be as early as next month.  The fact that the Official Nintendo Magazine will be publishing an article about Sonic Unleashed confirms that it will at least be a Nintendo Wii title.

Also, SEGA managed to leak some other valuable information, including Administrative User and Password information for their Press FTP server. I think someone over at SEGA is going to get the boot for all of this.

Sonic Unleashed Preview on SEGA Gamer’s Day 2008

segaday2008.gif

Update: SEGA did indeed showcase Sonic Unleashed during their Gamer’s Day event.  You can read up more about it on our summary of Sonic Unleashed During SEGA Gamer’s Day.

According to SEGA ON, SEGA plans to show a preview of Sonic Unleashed in their upcoming SEGA Gamer’s Day this May. They’ve reportedly gotten their hands on a list of games which will be shown off at this years event. According to them, the list appears to be a valid set of games considering several of the other games listed seem to match up with what was expected to be shown:

SEGA GAMER’S DAY 2008

ALPHA PROTOCOL
BEIJING 2008
EMPIRE: TOTAL WAR
GOLDEN AXE BEAST RIDER
NEW ETERNAL ARCADIA (TENTATIVE)
NEW NiGHTS (TENTATIVE)
SAMBA DE AMIGO 2008 (TENTATIVE)
SONIC CHRONICLES: THE DARK BROTHERHOOD
SONIC UNLEASHED PREVIEW
SPACE SIEGE
STORM CHASER
SUPER MONKEY BALL FOR iPhone (TENTATIVE)
THE CRUCIBLE: EVIL WITHIN
THE INCREDIBLE HULK — THE VIDEOGAME

We’re not sure where they received this information from (if you happen to find a source, please pass it onto us at our contact page). It could be a total falsification, as this site also reported about the plot of Sonic Unleashed, and later claimed that they had made the whole thing up.

So I guess what we are really trying to tell you is, take this information with a grain of salt.

Sonic Unleashed for Xbox 360, Wii, PS3 and PS2?

sonic-unleashed-gamestop.gif

Just got a heads up from a friend (thanks Joey!) that GameStop is listing Sonic Unleashed for the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and Playstation 3 & 2. What’s more is that they are listing the game for a release date of November 4th, 2008.

Now, there have been times in the past when stores get this information wrong, and it could be that GameStop is pulling these numbers out of nowhere. That said, it appears that you can actually go ahead and preorder at this point, which could get GS in trouble if they are listing products that aren’t even going to exist. Do note however that they say by preordering, you will receive release date change notifications (if there are any)

So, at this point, we’re going to keep waiting for an official word from SEGA, but it looks like we might have our lineup for Sonic Unleashed now folks!

New Sonic Unleashed Wallpapers

Super Sonic Unleashed Wallpaper

You can grab a few exclusive Sonic Unleashed Wallpapers now, right here from Camp Sonic! In the coming days, we’ll try to put together some more Wallpapers using the limited resources we have. The first wallpaper features Super Sonic, while the second features Robotnik (both presumably taken from a cinematic in the upcoming Sonic Unleashed).

Both wallpapers are 1280×1024 resolution. We have to work with the 720p screenshots that have been leaked, so it’s tough creating anything much bigger. If you’d like any additional smaller sizes, you can check out our WFV account!

Hope you like ‘em!

Sega: Bringing Sonic into a “New Era”

37.jpg

There is a new interesting job posting over at Sega Jobs in Europe. They are presently looking for a new marketing manager, who will essentially lead marketing campaigns over in PAL territory. While that might not seem all that interesting, this part got our attention:

“The flagship brand of the corporation, “Sonic The Hedgehog”, sits proudly within the Entertainment group and driving this brand forward into a new era will be a key aspect of the job.”

Driving Sonic into a new era, eh? It’s not much insight, but perhaps they are really doing their best to reinvent the Sonic Brand (starting with Sonic Unleashed).

Hi-Res Sonic Unleashed Video

Hi-Res Sonic Unleashed Video

We recently shared the leaked Sonic Unleashed Gameplay video with all of you here at Camp Sonic. Today, we’re letting you know that you can grab a high resolution version of that movie from RapidShare. We’re not sure if Sega is going to start taking this stuff down, so you may want to get it before it’s too late.

It’s a lot easier to see some of the details in this video compared to the highly compressed stuff coming up on YouTube and what not.

The movie weighs in at around 30Mb. Enjoy!

First Sonic Unleashed Video

Online Videos by Veoh.com

In the first ever video of Sonic Unleashed (leaked just recently from Sega’s FTP servers), we get a little taste of what the new Sonic is all about. For many, it will be a blast to the past, as the new Sonic appears to be returning a bit back to its roots and original side scrolling gameplay.

Of course, the game is 3D, and in some parts, plays with some three dimensional movement, but the stage design is really what makes a Sonic title… well, a Sonic title.

That, and the speed of course, and this game doesn’t seem to lack either good level design, or speed.

If you’re having trouble with the video, you can also grab some stills of the leaked footage in our Sonic Unleashed Gallery.

First Leaked Sonic Unleashed Screenshots!

27.jpg

We’ve added the first ever leaked screenshots from the upcoming Sonic Unleashed to our Sonic Unleashed Screenshot Gallery. There are over 50 screenshots in total, showing off a bit of how the game will play, as well as some of the awesome stage design.

From the looks of it, Sonic is heading back to more traditional gameplay (a 2D sidescroller, with some three dimensional movement on occasion). You can see multiple paths in the stage design in some of the screenshots, which should be really exciting to old school Sonic players. The recent Sonic games have been nothing but deal bin games with a shelf life about as long as slimy, mold infested rotten egg.

Will Sonic Unleashed bring Sonic back?
