Sonic Unleashed Screenshots from SEGA Gamer\'s Day

Almost 10 brand new screenshots from Sonic Unleashed were just revealed on IGN as a little eye candy from SEGA Gamer’s Day which took place on May 14th.

Everything’s still looking great to us! Also, we should probably note that these screenshots are all from the PS3 or Xbox 360 build. We are yet to see any screenshots from the Nintendo Wii version of Sonic Unleashed.

SEGA Gamer’s Day: No Multiplayer, Play as multiple Characters + More Info

Sonic Unleashed at SEGA Gamer\'s Day 2008

SEGA’s Gamer’s Day has come and gone, and some new details have been revealed in regards to their upcoming title, Sonic Unleashed. IGN has done a great writeup revealing control schemes, some more information about levels (some we’ve already learned), and new information regarding characters in Sonic Unleashed as well as multiplayer.

“The publisher says that the game features a fully cooked overworld with villages and side quests. If you’d rather just zip through traditional levels, you can ignore the overworld altogether, but it’ll be there for those who want it…

…And you will on occasion be able to play as a character other than Sonic, although the focus of the game will definitely be on the Hedgehog…

…The forced split-screen face-offs in the Sonic Adventure games are out. Unleashed is a single-player only experience. There will not be a multiplayer mode of any kind, according to SEGA.”

Overall, they were overly impressed with their first looks at Sonic Unleashed, stating “Sonic Team has finally taken the franchise forward again“. We’ll keep an eye out for new screens and Sonic Unleashed videos that may come from their Gamer’s Day.

Still no word about the Werehog, but you can read through the full article on IGN!

Update: New Sonic Unleashed Screenshots from Gamer’s Day just revealed!

SEGA confirmed for E3 2008. New Sonic Unleashed Info Likely

A few days ago, we speculated that SEGA might have some big plans involving Sonic Unleashed during this years E3.  While we certainly won’t rule out anything being revealed on SEGA’s Gamer’s Day this May, our speculation seems to have some evidence backing it now.

According to a list revealing this years companies attending E3 2008, SEGA of America, Microsoft, Nintendo of America, and Sony all are slated to be exhibiting.  It might just be us, but wouldn’t it be silly to show up to E3 WITHOUT what most would consider to be their biggest title in years?

Anyways, that’s just a little food for thought.

Who shouldn’t be in Sonic Unleashed?

Decide which characters you would and would not like to see in Sonic Unleashed.

So far, we know that besides Sonic (and his various forms), we’ll be seeing Tails, Knuckles, and Amy in Sonic Unleashed. Putting that to the side for a moment, what would be your perfect lineup for the next Sonic game?

Who would you NOT want to be in Sonic Unleashed? Hint: You can pick more than one.

(And in an effort to protect myself from fans of Shadow: I know the whole guns thing was short lived, and there’s nothing wrong with liking Shadow. I just don’t. I got attached to the retro games, and am simply stubborn to change.)

Sonic Unleashed in… 2001?

Photograph of a Sonic Unleashed Poster at E3 2001

Talk about a coinidence! Based on this picture, one might think that Sonic Unleashed has been in development since 2001 (when it was taken at E3 seven years ago).

Is there any chance that this was intentional, or is this simply a really, really lucky fluke?  Let’s hope that E3 2008 brings more promising Sonic Unleashed news.

And now I wait for the Shadow fans to get onto me for the tag line of today’s post.

When will we hear more about Sonic Unleashed?

We\'re waiting for more than a text document press release.

SEGA did an awful interesting job with keeping the can on the lid for Sonic Unleashed. It’s probably because of their little mishap that information seems to be so dry as of late.

Whatever the reasons may be, we’re all begging for more details about the game… more footage, and more screenshots.

Well, there may be some big announcements coming very soon, and from a place most gamers have become quite familiar with. We’re talking about the E3 Media and Business Summit of course, the annual trade show for computer and video games, set for July 15-17, 2008.

Now, this is all speculation, and it could be we don’t hear another peep out of SEGA until the game hits store shelves this holiday season (wouldn’t that be disappointing), but based on the timing of their official press release, and their recent announcements via ONM and Play Magazine, it seems logical that their next big announcement will come from the Summit itself (hopefully with more gameplay footage and other goodies)! It’s true that several large names are withdrawing from E3 this time around, but so far SEGA still seems to be attending. There is also some speculation that we might hear from them even earlier on SEGA’s Gamer’s day in May.

To help SEGA out, here is a short list of things we want to know about the game:

  • How many new characters are being introduced?
  • Are any online features being developed?
  • Can you please get rid of some characters?
  • Will their be Multiplayer?
  • Can we see some in game footage of the Werehog?
  • Can you Elaborate more on the premise of the game?

ONM Online Recaps Sonic Unleashed Preview

Official Nintendo Magazine has put there preview of Sonic Unleashed from their May 2008 issue online for reading.  It’s not a word for word/picture for picture duplicate of their cover story, but rather a reiteration going over most of what they had to say in this months release of ONM.

Hopefully, this is the last time we’ll have to mention it here, but in case you SOMEHOW missed this already, you can read our impressions from the article, or you can go through the scans yourself.

There have been a whole lot of scans this month posted about Sonic Unleashed.  We oughta put together a page organizing all of them for easy reference.

ONM Sonic Unleashed Scans

You may have read our writeup on Official Nintendo Magazine’s take on Sonic Unleashed so far back in the beginning of April, but in case you haven’t seen the article yourself yet, Nik’s sent us scans of the entire thing for your reading pleasure!

Scans are after the jump (or can be found on the permanent ONM Sonic Unleashed Scans page). Thanks Nik!

EGM Sonic Unleashed Scans + Info

Sonic Unleashed Scans in EGM\'s May 2008 Issue

EGM’s newest issue has a cover story on Sonic Unleashed, complete with… well, actually it feels rather incomplete after going through Play’s writeup. New information has been pretty hard to come by as of late.

Don’t blame the magazines though. We may not be getting a whole lot of new information (as some viewers here at Camp Sonic are pointing out), but we gotta remember that these publications kind of got the short end of the stick thanks to SEGA’s big leak. For what it’s worth, we’re certainly getting more than we would have if the leak hadn’t happened, so kudos to these publications for at least working with what they have.

And all of this isn’t to say that EGM isn’t worth a look. There are at least 3 new Sonic Unleashed screenshots in the article as well as another confirmation of the November release. You’ve heard the rest of what they had to say by now, but if you’re interested, we’ve got scans after the jump.

Thanks for the heads up Mike! Once again, our viewers prove there dedication!
