I don’t know. I personally don’t care who’s in the game, as long as the gameplay and/or story is good and the characters are describe greatly well.

But Amy’s not a new character, she been around just as long as Tails and Knuckles…. she deserves just as much spotlight, I wish Sonic Team would work on her character more then just being a hopeless fangirl.
Anyway, I voted for Shadow, Cream, Silver and Blaze. Those are the characters that will hog most of the attention.

I actually expected people to want blaze over shadow, but i dont know what i was thinking. Why choose a unique, Original Character when you can have a copied dark sonic.
Anyways, IMO it should be: Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles - As Playable… Maybe Blaze. Eggman, Amy, Blaze - as story characters… maybe Shadow if they work on his character more instead of just insisting that he is an angry sonic.
For example: 1 The “ultimate” life form thing, should just be all ego instead of actually making him the ultimate life form because it just takes away the spotlight from other characters who shouldnt be left out to make room for cloned character.
2 Instead of insisting he can do anything that is unique to other charcters ,aka Knuckles strength/ sonic’s speed, They should make him unique and have be stronger than sonic, but not as strong as kncukles, Fast in general, but not as fast as Sonic. While at the same time they focus on his abilities to use a variety
chaos control aka teleport and whatnot.
One more thing, what is the difference between the personalities of Espio and shadow? they both are loners/ deep voiced/ quiet charcters and espio came first plus he is a ninja so therefor i declare that shadow get the charcter/personality change or improvement. Sorry for this being so long. I just had to get all thins out before i murdered someone.
I don’t like cream, she is an ok character but I don’t like her design and neather Rouge’s ( weird big heads)
@ D2B - I really was just trying to name the ones I considered to be popular additions to the Sonic titles.
@ sonicfan - I’m not trying to go against you here, as I don’t think Amy is really as bad as some of the other characters (personal opinion), but to be fair, Amy has not been around as long as Tails or Knuckles.
Also, this poll is just something that I decided to run to see what the communities thoughts were about the game. It won’t make a difference, but I’d like to hear what other people have to say. And to squelch a rumor, Shadow has not yet been confirmed.

I don’t really care about other characters than Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. Although, I like most of the characters.
What I don’t like is the fact that new characters continue to come and we don’t really get any closer connection to the one that already exists…

@admin - Yes she did, she has been around since Sonic CD in 1993. Sometimes people mistakes her as a new character cause of her complete makeover in Sonic Adventure.
I think every character should be playable in multiplayer, but have only Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy in the main story.
That way everybody’s happy. That’s just my opinion.

The only ones I don’t want to show up in this game are Cream, Blaze and Rouge. Cream is just a little girl. Blaze is from another dimension, she doesn’t need to show up. Rouge I just don’t like.
Everyone else I can see having a good role in the game, just as long as they stick to what made Sonic games good instead of giving them weapons like guns and vehicles.

I think that only Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy deserve to be in this game. Sonic gets a freebee because he is the main character, Tails and Knuckles haven’t been playable as main characters since Sonic Heroes, and Amy needs a game where she can whack people’s heads with her hammer and be able to run decently fast.
and Dr. Robotnick (Not Eggman) should be his name to return to form.
This will bring all the old fans running back to play this.
To please the new fans, I think a multiplayer feature is in order, with most of the characters present. Maybe a racing mode like Sonic Rush/ Rivals?
The Chao Garden should also make a return here, and go online like Sonic Chronicles will be doing.
The other characters are unnecessary for this game, as they have been in their own games quite recently, and need to let the real characters have the spotlight for once.

well for once I DO love all the characters but they are critizised so much, that its necessary that there arent many characters, and to focus in Sonic, I love Silver and Blazes design but they would bring more plotholes and it isnt like you recieve a visit from the future everyday right? Hmm… I don’t really dislike any of the characters. I’d prefer only Sonic being playable. But as for the rest, I don’t really mind them being in the game, because that doesn’t necessarily mean they have to take part in the story. They might appear in the multiplayer modes? (If there is any).

Not trying to start an argument, but I honestly see the hatred of characters like “Shadow” and others very equivalent to the hatred people have against other consoles. Some people like their Playstation… and dislike Wii/others… even if it had the same games.
In my opinion, I do not have a problem with any alternate Sonic characters, as long as I’m not forced to play as them. From my point of view, Shadow seems to be the same as Espio from Sonic Heroes. That “gun” thing in Shadow to me is no different than Espio’s ninja star. Instead of a “throwing star” animation… its a gunfire animation… its the same exact thing. With that being said, Tails used guns in Sonic Adventure2 with a machine. Unless you get technical as in “he’s supposed to… or he’s not supposed to do this…” like Star Wars fans complain about… to me its no different… if Shadow is a faster version of E-102 from Sonic Adventure… let it be.
In “Sonic the Hedgehog” for 360 in 2006, I do not think Shadow uses guns… but he uses a KAMEHAMEHA wave… much stronger.
I agree with Samantha here. I think Amy should be playable…after all she IS one of the original 4…Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles….Amy has a huge huge fanbase as well as “SonAmy” (I think?) But don’t get me wrong I don’t want Sonamy stuff in this game. I don’t mind Amy in this game as playable at all in story mode. Who knows? She can be quite fun to use. Also it will help the gamers who are female.
Blaze is female. Shed be a better choice for a playable female character in story mode. Amy would mess with the flow of the game. Example of this is Sonic Adventure. Big and Amy were least desired stories to play and they just didnt flow with the pace of sonic’s gameplay. However Blaze can keep up the pace if not make it better with her style. Also id like to add that in SA2 amy was funny to play as in multiplayer. I dont have anything against amy. I just think she should stay in the story cut scenes and out of the H.U.D. if u know what im saying. However Multiplayer is a good choice for her.

I think that, because Tails and Knuckles were along Sonic since the Mega-Drive days. They should be his adventure partners once again in this game. And with all the new characters that have been created, Sonic seems to no longer pay much attention to them.
I didn’t vote for Amy because, since she was already confirmed, I might as well agree. If she wasn’t, I would be kinda in a dead end. I mean, she’s alright. But she humiliated* Sonic so many times I wouldn’t want to see her in this game too. Who knows how she’ll be like. Anyways, I hope to see her less childish, and giving Sonic more space. And at the same time, I want to see Sonic being more respectful to her, instead of just running away. That’s not funny.
I don’t want to see Rouge because she’s too **** for a Sonic game. And with her new voice, I like her even less.
I guess the same goes to Shadow. I would like to see him because he never appeared in a side-scrolling game. But with his new voice, I rather have only the ones that are already confirmed. Besides, he was cooler when he didn’t appear much. I appeared in most of the 3D titles, but instead of that, he could have appeared in SADV3 or another one, and not appear in one of the 3D games he is in.
I don’t want to see Team Chaotix because they’re dumb. They ruin the story and make it too kiddy. And it doesn’t even get funny. It’s just my opinion, though. If only one of them appeared, I’d like it to be Espio. He’s cool. I’m putting him in my fangame, unless I change my mind during the development.
Cream is annoying. I liked her in Heroes and the SADV games, but that’s it.
I actually like Blaze and Silver. But I want SEGA to save them for another game. And their weird powers make Sonic’s look like… more regular.

There are some points that I agree with you, and disagree. When you said she humiliated Sonic…how? When Sonic’s in trouble, she’ll try more than her hardest to get him back to safety. The reason “you” think Amy’s humiliating Sonic, because well when Amy wants to hug him, what does Sonic do? Runs away. =/ Sega must stop Sonic from running away. It’s >annoying< that he runs away and what happens in the end? Either Amy chases after him or just gives up. Yes Having Females is great! Amy and Blaze are cool!! And What is the DEAL With most of you guys Hating on Cream?!!? I know shes not Perfect But come on! Her Ablites make her unique. I can kinda understand where Samantha is coming from (which is weird - my real name is Samantha, too @_@) and I think she deserves more then cameo appearances and in a REALLY desperate need of character development. I’m an Amy fan and I don’t like how Sega is treating her in the games recently. They make her act really stupid, ditzy and childish. If they make her act more mature and less like an annoying fangirl, then MAYBE Sonic will probably slow down and like her. I’m really hoping Sonic Chronicles will accomplish that.
But anyway…. to be honest, I hope that Sonic is the only one who is playable and Knuckles, Tails and Amy are supporting characters for the story. Sonic doesn’t get that much spotlight lately cause of all the characters hogging the spotlight from him. That’s why I like Secret Rings so much, that game is all about him and he shows off his personality better then pervious games.

I think cream would be a fine and interesting addition to the Sonic Unleashed roster. Now, before you rain bullets on me or impale me with chaos energy, please listen. Think of what a compelling story it would be if Were-Sonic were to, perhaps, protect Cream from some huge robot or monster. I may be stretching it, but maybe Cream could be the only or one of the only characters that could truly connect with Sonic after his transformation. My conclusion is this: IF DONE PROPERLY, Cream would make for a pleasant NON-PLAYABLE character in Sonic Unleashed.

@Samantha: Im not saying Amy should only make a cameo appearance, that wouldnt serve her justice, but There is a place between cameo and playable in which Amy made her debute in sonic CD. She wasnt playable than, but still served an important role as a character.
Im just suggesting she go back to that. She would still have more spotlight and purpose than multiplayer characters, and in multiplayer you can play as her too. Not a bad compromise huh?
what i ment about sonic gameplay was.. the pace of the game. Sonic Adventure didnt have such a great pace in story and rarely in gameplay. The gameplay of sonic games should have that sense of pace and inpatients that sonic carries himself. With that said. It only makes sense that people want only Sonic, tails, Knuckles and if need be a forth character it should be one that can keep up with the gameplay of sonic , with a sense of uniqueness and IMO thats Blaze.
Just kinda look at it this way. In a major mario game peach is a big part of the story, but not a playable character. Nintendo knows what their doing, thats why formulas from mario carried over into sonic.

I checked Other for the Chaotix… They were cool in the original game but pretty cheezy in Heroes. If they bring them back, make them more normal.
I didn’t like Shadow the Hedgehog (the game) much either - Sonic characters swearing repeatedly for virtually no reason is just wrong - but I liked his character in SA2. If they’d bring David Humphrey back it would also be a big improvement.
Perhaps a little more neutrality towards characters would be nice? =)
Rouge blaze and silver shoulnt be in the game. rouge is a waste of space. blaze and silver are awesome but it wouldnt make any sense if they were in too many games it would make them being from the future have no meaning.
Amy should be in but only as a part of the story and in multiplayer ( hopefully) like in sonic adventure 2 battle. they only people making a big deal out of her r fangirls and feminists.

OH OH! I JUST REMEMBERED something. Blaze should had been an one-off character for Sonic Rush as well, after I read in the manual (or on the DS box case I forgot) that she is an Sonic Rush exclusive. But she isn’t a Sonic Rush exclusive NOW is she? =/
(Again, I like Blaze…Blaze is an awesome character, but if people are throwing Amy around and thinking Blaze is better and Blaze should have a better role than her, then Blaze = NOT awesome)
I think that Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and maybe Amy should be in the story mode but add Shadow, Silver and all the others to multiplayer mode (if there is one) but it depends on what kind of multiplayer they use like party mode or race mode etc.

Sonic Team officially announced that they were actually going to try and surpass that. Which is setting the bar really high.
Now looking at the theme, and direction that sonic team was going in back in the genesis days, If they would have made a sonic 4, and they had to choose between blaze or amy. I Honestly have to say that blaze fits in more even back in the tradition style they had back then. IMO it seems like blaze is the next logical choice in who should be the next sonic spotlight character. Even if it is 14 years later. I respect amy as an original character. But people have to admit that she never had all that much spotlight to steal in the first place. What is best for Amy is for her to return to her element, a part of the story.

Back to subject… U said ur fav games were sonic adventure and sonic heroes. My fav sonic games are the genesis games then adventure, then rush & rush adv, then secret rings.
I think we have a different taste in sonic games. I prefer the old 90’s style, but at the same time id like to see things take off in a new direction, yet stay true to the old coolness. U like the resent 3d games which are rated as the worst sonic games. So lets just agree to disagree and be done with it. Blaze may be a new charcter, but she actually fits in. Which seemed impossible after knuckles hit the seen. So you have to admit that Blaze deserves more credit than just be called a next-gen character, she has potential to be a permanent character and give back that old sense of cool the 90’s had make things new at the same time. Oh and about the plot thing. I already disproved this, but again sonic games are less about plot and more about gmaeplay. Sth06 never really happend so forget she is from the future. She is from another dimension, which isnt hard to make visit from her own dimension again for whatever reason.

I voted for Cream and…Other. I propose a “Who SHOULD be in Sonic Unleashed” to balance things out.
Cream, God bless her soul, such a polite and charming girl. But not really keen on the action and the violence. This situation, what with the explosions of the world and the werehogs and what not isn’t exactly something that a young girl should be involved in. Admittedly, she has proved to be capable of handling herself, but she has proved to also NOT be capable of handling herself. Not to mention that there are times where Cheese creeps me the eff out. Especially when she throws him at people’s heads. You give her that Chao and any of Shadow’s guns out of the dumpster and you’ll unleash hell incarnate, mark my words.
Also, for my Other, I mean any new character. If they do, meh, fine, I might like the newbie, I might not. But I’d rather not have another crowded addition to an already decent…and oversized roster of characters. This ain’t the Archie comics! (Whether that’s good or bad is entirely up to you.)

Sonic: there’s real no reason to explain, because it’s well obvious.
Shadow: He’s sonic’s #1 rival, so what if steals the spotlight once in a while, In case anyone didn’t know he’s the second most popular character in the series. Besides he’s appeared in every game after his debut( of cource excluding: the “Advance” , and rush series)and plus he’s a badass(except in sonic 06 he sucked then)
Tails: Once again no need to expalain, but he does need a bigger role like he had in both sa1, and sa2, and heroes.
Knuckles: Sonic’s best rival( Next to shadow of course) He needs to return to gaurding the “master” emerald. His character is so badass in sa1, and sa2, he only gets involved when he really doesn’t want to. I see it as this if the Master emerald isn’t involved then knuckles plays a small role(sonic riders 1/zero gravity, and sonic 06).
Amy: I’m still a little iffy about here being playble, she should be in the game(muiltiplayer & story), I mean she turns evil characters good I mean if thats not good I don’t know what is, heh if sonic goes werehog and shadow & knuckles are beat down she’ll probaly be the one to stop him.

Well I think Cream should be in the story , I mean come on we haven`t seen Cream in a story mode since Sonic Heroes while Blaze maybe her role could be some kind relation with that dragon like thing we saw in the CG screen shots

EXCUSE ME?! YOU think I would agree on what you just said was a bunch of rubbish? Sonic Adventure is the BEST 3D Sonic game up to date, pal. It was rated SO good, it almost got a perfect score. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT. =/ I admit, Sonic Heroes wasn’t a good game, however Heroes is still rated better (you heard me…I said BETTER excluding the PS2 version) than Secret Rings, Sonic Riders, StH2006 and Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic Rush is the best game for DS so far. Sonic Chronicles will be better and dominate over Sonic Rush. You just watch. I’m confident the game will. The selection of playable characters was sensible (I don’t know about Big though..) and fans get to choose their own name for the alien race. Shadow’s in the game, but I don’t think he will be carrying any ‘guns’. So that’s good too.

Hater! Hater! I`ve been playing Sonic games since 1994 (when I was still in kindergarten, I believe) and Shadow is my second most favorite character (after Big Blue himself), so that`s no excuse for disliking him! We even have similar personality types!
Heh heh. Just messing with you. You have the right to like or dislike any character you want. I just wish you would stop picking on Shadow (it’s annoying). Everything else I said in that last paragraph was true, though. Personally, I have also found that a lot of his fans are more well-adjusted than his haters. So don’t act like we’re going to go break your neck or something. You’re more likely to be murdered by that guy from Sonic Cult.
As long as I’m on the subject of Shadow, I have to say I agreed with you on the guns thing BEFORE actually playing the game. I found it much easier to eliminate enemies by just shooting them then by having to strike them directly. It was almost relaxing, at least compared to screaming at the screen in frustration after ******** up a homing attack.
I also think that Shadow should get his own series, that way he and Sonic won’t steal each other’s spotlight. Just take out the conventional firearms (i.e. pistols, rifles, etc.) and replace them with more heavy artillery/sci-fi style weapons. Oh yeah, and bring back those weaponized vehicles from Sonic 2006. I also think that “Shadow Unleashed” would’ve made a good name for a Shadow game.
P.S. I voted to keep Amy and Blaze out. I just don’t like them very much. Big should probably stay out of it too (although I didn’t vote “other” because I figured his chances of getting in were slim anyway). I’d also like to vote to keep Were-Sonic out. The normal Sonic gameplay looks cool enough to do without such a gameplay gimmick, not to mention the idea of Sonic turning into a werewolf seems a bit cliche, not to mention disturbing.
@ Ultimate Life Form: Shadow with gun in a picture = A laugh or a cool picture. Shadow with a gun in a video game = Shadow getting ’shot’ at. On a serious note, Shadow having guns is kind odd but is also a gimmick to show he wants the limelight. Also, Were-Sonic is in, like it or not, but he will be in many spin-offs because this game was suppose to be Sonic Adventure 3…

whay about my facts? they seem fine to me. i didnt really state many facts anyway. But here.

NOT A FACT. That is an opinion. =/ Do you know the difference between facts and opinions? Because that there my friend is an opinion. Amy being playable didn’t get Adventure its highest rating. It was the camera angles in the game that ruined it. I can easily say Tails being playable ruined Adventure. He didn’t, but I can say he did. THAT’S AN OPINION. Again, get your facts right. =/

StH2006 WAS NOT a spinoff, SOS. It was a major Sonic game, but the game was most failed game EVER. (And don’t get me wrong. I never implied that because Blaze is in the game she destroyed the game. She didn’t destroy the game. =/)
Here’s MY opinions:
IMO Amy should be playable in Unleashed along with Sonic, Tails and Knuckles.
IMO Heroes was more fun to play then Secret Rings
IMO Every recent games released out now since Shadow the Hedgehog (excluding Sonic Rush (NOT Rush Adv) and Mario & Sonic) were fail. =/
IMO Blaze is the best new developed character against Silver and Marine. And Shadow just because of his guns.
IMO Blaze shouldn’t have a bigger spotlight then she has already, otherwise she will pull a “Shadow.”
IMO If Sega have to pick between Blaze and Shadow for FIFTH place in Unleashed, then Blaze should come in because Shadow needs to step aside for at least ONE game. He has appeared in every game (and also playable excluding Rush and Rush Adv.) starting from Heroes.
IMO Secret Rings is the best game out at the moment against any home console Sonic game released since 2005.
And just one small fact:
Fact: There will be never be a game called “Sonic the Hedgehog 4″. Sega had MOVED on. Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis) was their best ever game made, however because it was the best game, doesn’t mean they would now go back to those Genesis graphics and make a Sonic 4 on a Wii or a PS3 or something. IT WOULD FAIL.

The only characters that i really, really, really dislike are Cream, and Rouge. Cream is utterly useless, i’d like to know where she even came from.. i think Sonic Advance 2?.. …not bashing on handheld games but they’re hard to accept as “Official storyline”, making Cream an insert character. Rouge should’ve been a one-shot character, seeing as how all she did was make a deal with ‘Eggman’ to help gather the chaos emeralds.. she was never on anyone’s side and then somehow she got affiliated with Shadow (and E-102) because she ‘developed feelings for him’. No.. please God just no.. i have less qualms about putting Amy in because she’s, as many people have said, an original character, since nearly the beginning (Sonic CD). Everyone else i don’t mind to a degree (obviously Tails and Knuckles stay), i found Shadow to be slightly badass during SA2, Silver’s voice was pretty dorky although he was supposed to be somewhat like Trunks from DBZ (if you’re a fan of the japanese, his voice even sounds like Trunks’s in japanese) and as far as i know, Blaze is dead.. like.. forever.. unfortunately… …because i love cats, and she was a confident, strong, un-****** (looking at you Rouge…) female character, who wasn’t annoying (like Cream, or new style Amy). I think i’ll end things here since i’ve written enough comments for 3 people, and end on this note: Be happy that Sonic Team is going back to the traditional style and mixing it up with some modern techniques to try and please everyone, and don’t be a whiny fanboy/fangirl and ruin it for the rest of us.

I agree Omega was one of the coolest characters introduced. He’s basically E-102 but more bad ***!! I think they should make him interact with Sonic this time because they have never conversed yet (Maybe Omega has to or something). How come no one is even considering him he is a great character!
