Updates from SEGA and other outlets have been a bit on the dry side as of late (although we still strongly believe that we’ll hear something soon, as E3 is only a few short weeks away). I hate to keep everyone waiting for updates around Camp Sonic, so I decided to add a new wallpaper to our Sonic Unleashed Wallpapers page. The newest wallpaper is a collaboration of screenshots from the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 video game consoles version of Sonic Unleashed from Sega’s gamer’s day 2008.
Not sure about the rest of you, but I’m getting a bit antsy in regards to the Nintendo Wii version of Sonic Unleashed. Hopefully, we get an idea of the differences between the 4 consoles sooner rather than later.
Anyways, enjoy the wallpaper. Be sure to contact us if you catch wind of anything new!

I’m pretty sure the Wii version will rule, while the PS3/PS2/X360 versions will all fail. It’s a fact that Sonic just belongs on the Nintendo platforms. His games were always more successful on those.
Anyway, thanks for the wallpaper.
nice wallpaper
Great wallpaper
Nice work on the wallpaper, looks great.
And I must admit that I agree with jorenmartijn. Sonic belongs on the nintendo platforms, just look at Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure. Also SatSR wasn’t great but it wasn’t a horrible game either. I actually enjoyed it.
I must disagree, Sonic is good on nintendo platforms, but not on the wii. Wii isn’t his style. I mean, truly he belongs on the SEGA systems but since they dont make those the next best thing is 360/PS3.
Er, good wallpaper.
I’ll probably be one of the few people to purchase both the Nintendo Wii version, and Xbox 360/PS3 version of the game (mostly so that I can report on both here at Camp Sonic.
However, I’m not going to commit myself to one or the other just yet. From the gameplay videos I’ve seen on the 360/PS3 platform, I’m pretty confident that the game is going to be great.
How are you going to do the reporting actually?
I suppuse a walktrough would fit here…
And a review.
I’m very thorough with my game coverage. You’ll likely find everything there is to know about the game here before anywhere else on the web.
Things I really try to put emphasis on include secrets in the game (such as collectible items, hidden areas, secret levels, unlockable characters, etc), good deals for where to buy the game, and I’m actually getting some equipment to record video walkthroughs for the game hopefully later this month.
After Sonic Unleashed, we’ll probably also start opening up news to future Sonic installments, as Sonic Unleashed will probably only be the beginning for new Sonic titles.
Oh… and there will be some contests =) Actually, there may be one as soon as next month. You know… the Win Free Stuff kind.
I believe this statement is the birth of the new-number one main series news site.
Hopefully.
And I forgot, you most likely need forums for optimal coverage and strats I think.
I’ll openly disagree with “Need”, but I am starting to lean towards opening a forum. The big thing (again) is to not distract from discussions on the main site.
I do greatly appreciate your feedback though. With our growing userbase, I do feel like a forum is becoming a more likely possibility.
hmm.. perhaps you can place a direct link to a forum page created at the same time as the news posts..
And enable guest posting.
But I agree that it may bring the comments on the news a bit down, but the positive aspect of using a forum would be more options when discussion things, such as small edits.
Comments work fine, but it lacks at some points.
But it is for you to decide, also because getting a forum up has a nasty price tag of course.
must disagree, Sonic is good on nintendo platforms, but not on the wii. Wii isn’t his style. I mean, truly he belongs on the SEGA systems but since they dont make those the next best thing is 360/PS3.
Er, good wallpaper.
which ever way the site goes. I think it will be good. Its good now so if i dosnt change than thats fine, but if it does get forums then thats good too. This is a very good site with a good concept so its all good… … good.
Great wallpaper, and keep up the great work!
jorenmartijn I don’t think the Wii version will rule it will suck. Sonic games is best to Playsation not Nintendo.
Wii is an old Game Cube with new controls and I think Wii is dead the next year. It won’t hold. I think the PS3 and PS2 version will sell more than the Wii version. I think all wat to buy PS3 after this summer and next year, I think the price will go down during the summer.
And thanks for the wallpaper.
P.S. Sorry for my bad english.
* osnic
umm.. kay?
Quit the bias will you,the wii is doing fine.
”old gamecube with new controls” ? lol.Really, cut it now.
And sonic is doing far better with nintendo then with sony so far..
Just THINK before you post anything like that the next time okay?
I respect your opinion, but this is so glarely biased.
But jorenmartijn was wrong to,so don’t worry about that.
I think that all 3 main consoles are great myself.
And sonic’s wii version is made specially for the wii,and we have no information about the differences yet.
I just hope that all versions will be great.
Cool wallpaper! nice job;)
Sonic games on the nintendo consoles were fine.
I don’t think this game on Wii will be a real blast, but it won’t be bad either. Anyway, if it does come out for wii, than I’m sure to buy it:)
Yes, but I don’t think Wii will hold.
And I didn’t think soo much this time I just hate Wii, and Nintendos consols are so bad, they’re soo expensive. And Wii is a Game Cube actually.
And may it works fine…NOW. But I think it will sell more to PS3 and 360.
That motion thing is not fun after a while. And if you don’t belive that thing with game cube with new controls just search on google and read some old interjuvs.
So that is what I think.
…
really,do you homework next time.
Wii HAS a increase in power, but not as high as the other two.
And did you know that nintendo is the CHEAPEST of the tree?
Seems not.
And did you ever play a wii?
I will assume you have if you think that motion control is boring, and you need to try it out for a while to say this.
But I respect your opinion still, and wii can have some trouble later on in the generation, but still
”Since its launch, the monthly sales numbers of the console have been higher than its competitors across the globe. According to the NPD Group, the Wii sold more units in the United States than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 combined in the first half of 2007”
this is from wikipedia.
But let’s not start a big argument here(trough we have little else to do now..)
admin - Nice wallpaper, as always. You’re so awesome when it comes to the graphics on this…wait, you ARE the only person working on this, right? Very awesome. o___o;;
The rest o’ you guys - I can’t wait to find out the difference either. Admittedly, the beginning of the lapse in quality for the series came when the series came out with the first multiplatform game, Sonic Heroes. Inevitably, most of the 3D multiplatform Sonic games would end up being worse on the PS2 and X-Box consoles than the ones on Gamecube…but due to developing for three separate consoles, the overall quality would lessen, especially the ones where SEGA/Sonic Team were not familiar with (PS2, XBOX). This would effect Sonic ‘06 a lot, being a multiplatform console release, on the XBOX 360 and PS3, the next gen versions of the consoles that the Team usually doesn’t do well on, being put on a very short development schedule (as is Sonic Team’s routine), and also, MICROSOFT insisting that the 360 version of Sonic ‘06 be released before the PS3 version, tighting the deadline further. Needless to say, Sonic Team seems to have a good idea with Sonic Unleashed, having the PS3/XBox 360 versions have the Hedgehog Engine with the mix of the 2D/3D elements to give their console versions the great Sonic gameplay they deserve…and having the Wii/PS2 version made for that specific experience (the Wii one at least…), emulating that Hedgehog Engine, and having the great team behind Sonic Advance/Sonic Rush series, DIMPS behind it. While Sonic would probably work a lot better being exclusive to Nintendo, if SEGA doesn’t give it a try to make the Playstation and Xbox versions work, they’ll lose quite a bit of credibility. I doubt that fanboys will buy a Wii simply to play Sonic, even if the experience would be better. O___O;;
can somebody tell me when its gonna be E3?
Nice wallpaper. I’ll be buying the PS2 version of the game. Not out of choice just it’s the only one I have at the moment.
@ Nano: E3 is July 15-17.
It craz be rastic in hail- I hope Soonoc corn eat soomething I wood love to sea hoom ooting a peanoot booer and choose sandwadge.
Thanks dad
I agree Floonbag
wowz
whoa. …?
anywho. Im just going to through this out there. My feelings on the difference in game development for wii and PS3/360 is that, i think they are trying to see which one will sell more and from then on, that will be the console they lean more to for sonic. I think all this multiplatform, next gen, yuji naka-less, struggling SonicTeam is very confused as of recent years and i think they are trying to reinvent themselves as a developer. Same goes for sega in general. I think once the game is released, they are going to sit back and watch the sales and reviews closely and see what platform sonic really does work on. After that, i think they will have a good idea of just what platform they want to officially make sonic games for. I thinking its nintendo, but the 360/PS3 game does look real good. I hope they take that energy into the wii version.
@Osnic: At least I’m really trying to base my opinion on facts. The Wii quite a bit more powerful than the GameCube, so get your homework done. Second, I believe Secret Rings on Wii sold (the last time I saw figures about it, which is a month or 3 ago) close to the numbers Mario Galaxy was selling, if not being a spot above it on the list.
I’m glad DIMPS (Sonic Rush Adventure is my favourite!) is creating Sonic Unleashed Wii (or rather helping out with it), but they should have dropped the PS2-version. I’m not dissing the PS2, as it’s great in its own right, as is the Wii and the other consoles, but especially the Wii needs a lot of attention to achieve the best results.
Secret Rings looks truly beautiful, because it’s made specifically for Wii. It proves that it can work, but those blasted deadlines often screw up games that were otherwise good, leaving Secret Rings with a sometimes buggy camera for example. (also taking notice of the Sonic ‘06 demo which seemed better than the final game).
I’ve got a Wii and I’ve got PS3 and 360. But I don’t play 360 so much. And I don’t like that Motion thing on Wii so much it’s boring after I while but I play PS3 some days and Wii somedays and it is more fun then.
plz.
Yes I know it is the cheapiest, but it’s very expensive in Sweden(I’m from Sweden).
But I still think it’s too much money for a Wii.(Remember I said what I think and you can say evrything you want to say, OK)
And sorry jorenmartijn, I didn’t mean it, It’s cuse I hate the Wii.(It’s not always boring).
And sorry again…friends!?
I am happy this did not turn out in a argument.
It seems that you not like the wii because of taste, which is understandable. It is bad that the wii is so expensive in certain countries, since one of it aims is to be afforable.
I think the wii game will be a bit odd,and the true unleashed is on the xbox/ps3 because of the engine.
But I hope it turns out fun.(even if I don’t HAVE a main 7th gen console)
I think that new ways of control are good for sonic(not meaning the wii only) ,because it increases the experience of the game when done correctly.
And it is not the consoles, but sega messing up lately..
I hope that that the game is fully completed when it comes out.\
Sth06 had several features cut out,and I noticed that when you defeat a boss,it does’t even explode.Because they did’t have time to make that.No it is just final hit>results>where did that boss go?
@ jorenmartijin: I don’t think they’ll just drop the PS2 version. Many people who’ve been with the Play Station Series for so long have stuck with the 2 because the 3 and it’s games or so expensive. I for one was horrified when Sonic 06 was a Next Gen exclusive because many people back then just didn’t have the money to buy the game or the console which is why Sonic Team has included Sonic Unleashed on the PS2 because the Play Station Series fans are unwilling to buy the game for the PS3 because of the huge sum of money.
Hey, watch it lemon
I hope that the ps2 can HANDLE this,
There is a reason the ps3 costs more, and that is because it is so strong.
Is it going to look like a cross between the heroes looks and unleashed looks?
Since i have ps2 ill will buy for taht version of the game
I hope that i wouldn be dissapointed
I’m getting unleashed for the Wii, only because my bro-in-law owns one. And if you read some of the articles, SEGA said that you’ll be able to use a gamecube or classic controller to play the game, so don’t feel bogged down by the wiimote!
That is intresting..
I was sure that the wiimote would be used alot..
Hmm.. I still think the 360 and PS3 will be better. Wii gets sort of boring after a while. And the Wii is quite expensive lololo.
@ Hi Mgraw: Who are you? You like copied my post. If your wondering my name is not Mgraw and I don’t know anyone named Mgraw….
Wii is diffirent.
And appeals to non-gamers,as does the ds.
So the Wii has a decent role.
This place is turning into a desert without any water..
(read:news)
Updates have been pretty dry recently. We have had more information on Sonic Chronicles, and that’s coming out later than Unleashed. Something tells me that the announcement at E3 will be HUGE.
yeah…
sega always loves to make a big impact.
E3 will most likely feature tons of new gameplay, details revealed,a new trailer that focuses on the story more and go so on…
I just hope the game is still good..
Remember that S06 trailer that had NOTHING to do with the game exept it looked NICE,and ran on the game’s engine?
(The one that had sonic go super after being defeated.)
It is all about the drama…
Until the game comes out.
And than they are in trouble, whee…
i would like if the game was the same in every console (i mean the graphics could be the same in the 4 consoles)and the levels too!
That would mean that the ps3 and xbox and wii version would totally fail because it has to look and play like a ps2 game.
I supose that a ps2 version can work, but it most likely will turn out to be the worst version..
Not that means anything,if it runs decently for a ps2 game,it can be good.
I wonder how much of Sega’s “ideas” of this game will make it into the final product of Sonic Unleashed?
Listening to SADX sound effects on PC… I’m hearing thousands of unused sounds… such as Tikal saying… “the tidal wave is coming! hurry up and jump ship!” I’m assuming that was from perfect chaos.

“I must disagree, Sonic is good on nintendo platforms, but not on the wii. Wii isn’t his style.”
Sonic and the secret rings was kind of experimental for wii controls. It’s unlikely that those controls will be used again in a sonic game, and if they are, they probably won’t be your only option
I would like to make a game of sonic fights and all its characters for the xbox 360.
well sonic and the black knight looks like a really good game dor Wii when i knew about it i thought it was going to be **** but i have been loking information and it looks like a really good game some kind of Legend of Zelda and Sonic DX director’s cut together
