New Sonic Unleashed Plot Information?
I’m not sure if this is brand new, or if it just hasn’t picked up any attention for some reason yet, but I’m going to say this is New Plot Information for Sonic Unleashed until someone corrects me. I just saw this interesting summary of Sonic Unleashed over on the official SU website:
Sonic the Hedgehog is on an adventure unlike any other! When Dr. Eggman unleashed a slumbering beast from the center of the Earth, there is a devastating tremor that splinters the world into many continents. Sonic must race to restore the planet in chaos, but an unusual situation challenges him in never-before-seen ways. Both day and night play different, yet important, roles in Sonic’s newest quest… as the sun sets, an intriguing adventure awakens!
Well this is way different from what I imagined the game was all about when I first read about Dr. Eggman’s new machine. I’m starting to wonder if that creepy Dragon Boss character might be this “beast” mentioned in the new game description? It’s pure speculation of course, but it’s starting to seem plausible.
I should note that I was only able to find this on the US version of the Sonic Unleashed website when I saw it, and there was no such page on the UK version. Might be a good idea to keep an eye out for updates over the next few days.

Well, WELL! That’s a very interesting little tibbit of information you have there. As for what it means to the plot, you got me. Perhaps some “perfect chaos” sort of creature? I guess this is just one more question to add to our ever-growing list of things to ask at E3.

Actually,the setting is a bit weird now.
We have the split world,which is typically sonic.
We have a savage monster,which is alot like the basic sonic plot nowadays.
We have realistic levels based on the real world.
Okay,this is a funky mix,I tell ya…
And I can see the final boss coming now…*sweatdrop*
A epic battle with the monster that is now stronger than ever at the flaming core of the earth…
The only part I don’t know is what sonic’s form and status will be,but for the rest…

seems like the sonic universe has so many monsters that were sealed away for an age. Chaos, Iblis, Erazor Djinn, Emerel, now this guy. the ancient civilizations must have been real busy trying to control them all.
Sonic & Eggman fight. (Think about the Sonic 2 final boss.)
Sonic goes Super! (Super Saiyan lvl 2 to be precise.)
Eggman traps Sonic! *gasp*
He drains the emeralds powers. (Oh Noes! D:)

Sonic brused and beaten escapes by jumping off at the last second and free falling to Earth barely able to keep consciousness! Of course Tails, the friend that he is eventually catches him with his plane.
The ancient evil then proceeds to turn all cute loving creatures into savage beasts!
It is now up to you to save the world AND yourself!! XD
admin – Damn, you are ON this stuff, man. I was just going to tell you about how the SEGA of America FTP has the Fact Sheet for Sonic Unleashed for Gamers Day. Most of it is stuff that we already know, but there’s one line that ties in…
“Players find that Dr. Eggman continues on his mission for domination, but this time he’s upped the stakes by causing a catastrophic event that breaks apart the world and unleashed a slumbering beast that alters Sonic in unexpected ways.”
I didn’t know whether this means that Eggman unleashed Weresonic, or if he unleashes the evil purple aura’d beast that we saw in the leaked screenshots and that beast changed Sonic. …well, this along with the new development on the US Sonic Unleashed sort of makes it somewhat clearer. He might’ve tried to use the power of Super Sonic with his machine to unleash the purple Dragon Boss guy. *sigh* What is it with Eggman and ancient powers that he knows he can’t control? Doesn’t he ever learn…well, he would’ve given up a long time ago if he did. XD
Also something else that is interesting, “The splintered world of Sonic Unleashed delivers a massive playground where players can choose an array of paths when jetting through each stage. Each unique route offers different encounters with varying rewards and obstacles.” This seems to indicate that there are multiple paths within each level.
The Fact Sheet also doesn’t identify the world as Earth, but I suppose they did it to help with the overall tone of the Fact Sheet, which is very, very much more of a “Hype Sheet”. Lots of big, descriptive words, which only serve to make my itch for this game worse. D:

dragonite- seeing as Eggman actually didn’t succeed in releasing Iblis (he simply caused Rouge to accidentally drop the Scepter of Darkness, leading Mephiles to go release Iblis himself), it wouldn’t be a “take two” in this respect. ‘Sides, Iblis set the world on fire, so far, everything seems to be intact. Also, the fact sheet and the other bits of information we have so far seems to cement Eggman as the “main bad guy”, regardless of the Dragon Boss, so maybe he DOES get control of him this time. About time. Eggy!
stereo- Actually, the Erazor Djinn was sealed in the world of the Arabian Nights, which is separate from Sonic’s world. Still, they DID have a hard time controlling all of them. Emerl came about at the time of the Fourth Great Civilization, meaning that there were three more that could’ve possibly been wiped out, maybe even the Echindas being one of those civilizations. And seeing as Emerl was from thousands of years ago, who knows what number the current Great Civilization is. (Which seems to comprise of human beings and the odd few anthromorphic animals. Man, we humans just won’t quit! XD )
I doubt that animals will be involved,but that would be a nice trowback indeed.
But eggman will be the the primary enemy for most of the game,with his precious robots of course..

If you look at Wikipedia under all Sonic Game Characters, you’ll see a small piece about Immarius the dragon at the centre of the world. I reckon he’s the beast that Eggman wakes up. Also this game is turning into a real Sonic Adventure.
Sonic Adventure 1: Eggman wakes up Chaos a creature intent on destroying the world.
Sonic Adventure 2: Eggman wakes up Shadow a hedgehog intent on blowing up the world.
Sonic Unleashed: Eggman wakes up some sort of evil monster thing a creature intent on shattering the world.
Careful with the whole Imarrius thing. The same site that made that statement later admitted that they had made it up for the publicity. The wikipedia page for sonic unleashed has been terribly maintained in my opinion, so I want to give a fair warning not to trust much you see there without verification on your own part.
I don’t think Unleashed will connect with Adventure XP.
BUT if there was a 3rd in my mind it would be cool if they explain the connection from Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. Because they had no relation at ALL.

I’m just so glad DIMPS is behind the Wii-version of the game, which will certainly rule since they made Sonic Rush (Adventure).
They however didn’t include the Metarex-saga of Sonic X in any Adventure game, so they could use that in the plot, but I seriously doubt that, but it’s just an idea.
After all, it really seems Sonic Unleashed will be the third entry in the Adventure series. :D

Sonic Unleashed confirmed for November! Possibly November 4!
And, well, Sonic Unleashed was pretty much meant to be a “placeholder” title, like “Hyper Sonic” was for Sonic and the Secret Rings, right?
Nothing is for certain right now, but it could be changed to Sonic World Adventure!
…which makes all the similarities to Sonic Adventure seem to make complete sense in regards to the title. Both titles are fitting, but it hasn’t been completely confirmed yet by SEGA and what not, so stay on your toes.
…so, anybody up for a Sonic Adventure spinoff? *SHOT*
WOWZ: The connection between Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 isn’t really as much a storyline connection as much as it is the overall gameplay experience, of Sonic and his friends facing off against dangerous threats and exploring vast and exotic landscapes, with the ability to use the abilities of both Sonic AND his friends. (And in SA2’s case, his enemies.) Also, Chao Gardens! :D Things like the Emerald Altar in the Final Story and the Artificial Chaos in the ARK levels fall back to Sonic Adventure, but for the most part, it’s the EXPERIENCE that Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 have in common, not the storyline.
Shadow is my least favorite…
Its supposed to go back to the old games, not Shadow.
@WOWZ: If Mario can have a dark (as in evil/bad) counterpart, Wario, then why can’t Sonic have his? I’ve never heard as much complains about Mario’s cast as with Sonic’s, by the way…
(as a side-note, I think they’re portraying Wario as a complete fool/nutter/freak in Brawl, which is sad :P)
I like Shadow.
I see how the online Sonic community dislikes Shadow… but I wonder about the general gaming public. Will a typical gamer choose Shadow over Amy, Tails, or Knuckles? That is something to consider.
To be honest… I like Shadow as the “serious” version of Sonic… and that is the only character (other than Sonic) I play as. Sonic and Shadow are like Goku and Vegeta.

I just can’t really get into that game. I’ll hold my judgement until it’s out and reviewed, but it just looks like another Sonic failure waiting to happen to me. They seem to be taking Sonic at two directions at once right now, which is sort of weird — Unleashed is reinventing the series, while Chronicles seems to be perpetuating the idea that more characters = better Sonic games.

People like Wario because Nintendo keeps him out of the main Mario series. He’s fun-loving and likes gold.
Most people hate Shadow because Sega has to include him in almost every single Sonic game they make. All the recent stories revolve around him and he’s a overly hyped manic depressive.
Mike, I’m pretty sure more people would rather play as Shadow than Amy. Shadow doesn’t seem to “behave” depressive in anyway, and you can simply DON’T PLAY as him.
The “recent” stories you speak of that supposedly “revolve” around Shadow? Did Sonic and Secret Rings revolve around him? From what I could tolerate of Sonic 06, when playing as Sonic… I do not remember seeing Shadow often… and I’d find Shadow less “annoying” than Tails anytime. I honestly do not care if Tails is “original” or not the same way I do not care about changes in “Star Wars movies.” Skip the cutscenes, or just play as a character you want.
How exactly does ALL the recent stories revolve around Shadow? Sonic Heroes? In that game there wasn’t really a story… every cutscene was a simple excuse to run through the levels and jump on robotnik. Sonic and the Secret Rings? I don’t think so. Sonic Rush? I doubt it… Tails was more “rubbed in” your face even with him not playable as a character… Tails’ crying and cheering was unavoidable even during boss fights.
Sonic 06? Let me see… did that revolve around Shadow? i could not tolerate through the entire game… I found Shadow more enjoyable than Silver… and the 1 Shadow level I played… I had more fun than I did in any Amy level from Sonic Adventure… or treasure hunting level from Sa2.

I see your point with Wario not being put in the main Mario series, Mike (even though there’s Super Mario Land: The Six Golden Coins).
Just wanted to bring up a reason why people shouldn’t be so focussed on those first Sonic games, like they’re the ones that count and nothing else should change the series as these games did.
Honestly, I own all four Sonic (1/2/3) games (including the 3D Blast one, which was kind of like a misbuy) on the Wii Virtual Console, but I can’t get into them as much as I would like. (they’re so slow compared to Sonic Rush Adventure)
That’s why I like all the new characters like Shadow, Blaze and Silver. I’m open for change (perhaps with because of all those new characters being pumped into the Mario series, with which I don’t have a problem, either).

The only reason why people act as if Sonic 1, 2, 3 & K are the only ones that matter are becasue….well…they were perfect! Changing a formula that works (Crash and Spyro) is just a bad idea.
I kinda dislike the DS games for being too fast and not having alot of platforming. I still enjoy playing them though, S Ranks on everything.
I don’t mind the new characters either. (as long as they’re not clones.) I just care about how they act. I’m still waiting for a green bird that doesn’t suck.
When the media speaks of the original Sonic games as “perfect,” it is because they are comparing it to the 3d games. It takes less effort to make a 2d game than a 3d one… and it is less noticable when a 2d game is rushed… like Sonic 3 (incomplete.)
I recently got Sonic 1 on Xbox live arcade… and I do not find that game perfect at all. Obviously, the game has no “treasure hunting” or “backtracking” to complain about. However, I think Sonic Rush has more fun factor, and is alot more welcoming to new comers. This is why I am glad Sonic Unleashed is taking that direction.

I think what you posted about a possible name change is quite interesting. “Sonic World Adventure” is a great title in my opinion. I hope it’s official, since I’m not too keen on “Sonic Unleashed”.

Not to rain on any parades or anything, but its probably very safe to say the game is being called sonic unleashed at this point.
Aside from the fact that Hashimoto has confirmed they are not related, and the fact sheet using Sonic Unleashed, the fact that their PR team has used that name in so many magazines this close to launch is plenty of evidence that that are trying to build that brand.
Its possible to change, but I don’t think anyone at Sega is going to throw away all the identity they’ve built for the game so far.
admin – Heh, well, like I said, nothing is for sure at this point in time. For all we know, Prima screwed up. :P (And thank you for pointing out that I pointed out what I already knew. XD )
Also, about Chronicles, seeing as it’s an RPG from Bioware, having plenty of characters is probably an inevitablility, due to the characters having abilities that could serve a good purpose in an RPG-style battle. The basic party is of four members, so you don’t have to choose certain characters for your party that you use all the time if you don’t want to, and Bioware has been great at character development in their other games so far, so it might make up for some of the slip ups that Sonic Team has made in portraying their own characters. It’s a completely and totally different experience from Unleashed, due to it being a different genre and different developer, and it could work…or it couldn’t. I guess it depends on whether you’re up for the Sonic property to be used as an RPG or not. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
You know iNAUDiBLE, so long as that story NEVER caries over to the new Sonic Games, I think I’ll be happy with it actually. You are right… different genres require different kinds of stories. You sort of reminded me about how much I loved Super Mario RPG, even with all the new and goofy characters introduced in it. The story was never applied elsewhere, and the characters didn’t either, making it an awesome addition to the Mario universe. It might work out for Sonic :P

2. Sonic Chronicles =/= Sonic Unleashed; Sonic Chronicles = More background stories, a new style of gaming and two companies joined to help make a (hopefully) great game. Basically, Sega is pulling a Mario out of their hat.
3. Sonic Unleashed is more like Sonic Rush (Adventure) and SA1 based on the images and accounts on the matter.

WOWZ, Sonic Rush plays ALMOST exactly like what you see this video. This looks very much like Sonic Rush: Unleashed.
I remember reading posts from Mike (and others) disliking the DS games for being so fast… this game’s “speed” may trouble some of you… HOWEVER, the werewolf sections may balance the game to your liking… Sega did a good job at making this game for everybody.
I like the new character alot. (Silver, Blaze, Marine, Storm. (Idk why I like Storm he is just cooler than jet.) And Sonic 06 Really did not really do alot about Shadow. More & More people hate characters because of their sucky games. Shadow the hedgehog: Sucky Game. This game made me hate Shadow ALOT. Black Doom was a very dumb and random character. (He just falls from da sky, What the heck?!)
Sonic 06: This game sux even though i beat it. Mostly because of Elise (A characer dumber than Amy.) Elise and her flash backs. “Will be able to see momma?” “Yes, Elise, we will be able to see your mother once again.” (WHAT THE-?) Se never saw her mommy though because she blew out the fire at the end. Plus also, Silver is disliked becuase 1. He is a darn hedgehog
2. he is in a crappy game

Well to be honest 300mph as the speed limit in this game makes me a little sad because it’s nothing for sonic ( he scored a record of 765mph but as the king of speed i think sonic has an unlimited top speed as well as the acceleration ). And also having no multiplayer is bad because my little sister will be sad about it. i hpoe that there are towns you can roam and do different activities freely and i also hope that the 3D parts of the levels allows you to move freely in all directions unlike sonic and the secret rings. I’d also like 3D underwater levels where you can find bubbles to breathe like in the water palace zone in sonic rush and older games( LOL the water palace seems to be part of the mykonos level in greece as seen in the official trailer ;) ) what do you think admin and everyone?

The beast that eggman unleashed is called Gaia or something? Well… it shouldn’t! I live in Portugal , in a city called Gaia!!! They could at least put another name on the beast!

Well.. he does go faster than the speed of sound but how can anyone play a game that has Sonic running that fast while seeing everything a blur? You’ll be basically not know where you are going in the game… and if it is your first time playing the game, then yeah… running that fast will have to wait.
You basically have to like know the levels by heart so you can run more than 700mph and know at what time and moment you need to make your turns and jumps in :0
