As several of our viewers pointed out recently, SEGA has released a fact sheet from their Gamer Day back in May, complete with promotional buzzwords and other worthless & already known awesome new details!

I really don’t see anything worth highlighting in the document myself, but if you haven’t been keeping up with us, it’s probably worth looking through. You can download it off the SEGA PR FTP server, or simply read the juicy parts below:

Overview

Sonic is on a race against time… as the sun sets, a new adventure awakens!

Sonic Unleashed will launch players on a revolutionary high-speed adventure through a world torn by chaos. Powered by the all-new “Hedgehog Engine,” Sonic Unleashed merges classic Sonic gameplay with the latest in next-generation innovation. It launches players on a journey across the globe and merges blistering 2D action with picturesque 3D environments. Sonic Unleashed delivers an expansive world with seamless 3D to 2D transitions and branching pathways, as well as dynamic viewpoints and a series of enhanced speed mechanics to help Sonic navigate the world.

With an exciting new storyline where day and night play drastically different roles, Sonic Unleashed will send Sonic on an unforgettable quest to save a dying world from the maniacal Dr. Eggman. Players find that Dr. Eggman continues on his mission for domination, but this time he’s upped the stakes by causing a catastrophic event that breaks apart the world and unleashes a slumbering beast that alters Sonic in unexpected ways. It is up to Sonic to use his newfound abilities to connect the remnants of a shattered world by finding the lost chaos emeralds. With the world divided and Sonic facing distinctly complex challenges, including new abilities and powers, the stage is set for a climactic battle for Sonic to save the world… and himself!

Key Features:

  • Unleashed Engine: A suite of new technologies combine to form the new “Hedgehog Engine” unveiled in Sonic Unleashed. Under development for three years, delivers a revolutionary gameplay experience with realistic graphics and seamless transitions between 3D and classic 2D high-speed action.

  • Unleashed Gameplay: With scorching 2D gameplay and cutting-edge 3D visuals, the latest Sonic adventure blends the very best of the franchise with a keen eye toward the future. Use a collection of all-new abilities and powers to navigate thrilling courses, while battling the minions of Dr. Eggman.

  • Unleashed Speed: Avoid obstacles instantly using “Quick Step” without losing speed. Players can also use “Sonic Boost” and accelerate to supersonic speed by quickly collecting rings and increasing “Ring Energy” level. Finally, maintain the high-speed momentum through turns using “Speed Drift”. With more opportunities to maintain or increase speed, the player is challenged to compete with energy and fast-paced action!

  • Unleashed Environments: The splintered world of Sonic Unleashed delivers a massive playground where players can choose an array of paths when jetting through each stage. Each unique route offers different encounters with varying rewards and obstacles.

Like I said, nothing groundbreaking here, but hey… E3 is just a short ways away!

about six days on the 15th,I believe. At least very shorty,I am bad at dates.
You can perhaps add the date on the update admin.
    This question is asked alot.

I think I’m going to actually make a central page for E3 updates pretty soon to keep everyone on the same page with each other. I’ll have it take the place of where you see Sonic doing his drift up in the top right :P

Yeah, E3 is next month. That’s likely when we’ll finally learn how WereSonic plays.

    Next month?
    I thought this month.
    O well.I can wait.

And one thing about the drift pic,it looks cool to me,but one of sonic’s head spines crosses with sonic’s arm
This is of course normal going in a video game, but as main page picture it bugs me slightly.
But it’s nothing to bad trough.

All this talk about this “Hedgehog Engine”… Just make a massive Sonic game for the Wii based on the “Rush Engine”. It sounds better, too. :P

I have some attention mongerer trying to convince me that he has the Sonic Unleashed Logo “Prototype” right now. Yeah… the logo “prototype”.

    Really… Prototype?

He’s failed at providing a source, so I let it slide, and now he’s emailing me from a different name and address thinking I won’t know it’s him.

Sorry… Just thought I should let you all know.

    Now THAT is dumb.
I wonder when the logo will be revealed.
    E3 most likely.
Are you going to give the site a suiting revamp to match then?

  13. admin Says:
    Reply to this comment

Revamp? I’m personally very fond of the current look, and that says something about a design in my books. Typically I’m one to modify layouts every few months, but this one seems very appealing and easy on the eyes – - not to mention very easy to navigate.

We might add a few things, and modify others as we see fit. It’s getting to the point where I need to activate the site search since somethings are getting lost in the archives. We’ll also make a point to highlight new features in the right menu when we see fit.

Oh, and I banned the guy who submitted the awful logo. If things get juicy from here on out, I might start a Saga about him or something :P

Your site, your call as the saying goes.
I am happy with this layout to.
It is so simplistic that it never gets boring.

Can you post a link to that logo?
    Now I am curious…

  16. jorenmartijn Says:
    Reply to this comment

Wait, by logo, you guys mean something like the combined Shadow/Sonic spin-dash image on the Sonic Adventure 2: Battle startup screen?

  17. dragonite Says:
    Reply to this comment

    Something like that..
Heroes has the most noticable logo of all sonic games.
But the logo can also be just a stylished text, like shadow the hedgehog and sonic next gen.

  18. jorenmartijn Says:
    Reply to this comment

I get it, so I guess the Secret Rings logo… is a ring! :D
And Rush (Adventure)’s just the stylised text, if I’m not mistaken.

  19. admin Says:

    The FAKE logo

Everything about it is perfect, stunning, and idiotic all at once. The fact that Sonic and Shadow use different Compression rates… The horrific type, which has been made more horrific by being streched… The clearly visible trace of a cutout along most of Shadow’s body…

I mean… there is an art to being terrible at Photoshop, and whoever put this together nearly mastered it.

  20. jorenmartijn Says:
    Reply to this comment

Even I could pull up something better than that. And it’s quite obvious that you shouldn’t put Shadow in the logo to make it convincing, since it’s -SONIC Unleashed- and not -SONIC and SHADOW Unleashed-…

  21. dragonite Says:

    Heheh…
    This had me chuckling.
A bland logo with a oblivously cutted in sonic and shadow(who has’t a main role at all..hopefully.)

We know the term for this right?

    FAIL :p

The curse of being a top news site isn’t it?
    Well,don’t mind them TO much.
This place will have the news in most cases early, and this site has a reputation now.

    About the release..
Are you going to write a full guide yourself,or are you asking somebody on gamefaqish sites if you may host their guide?

  24. admin Says:
    Reply to this comment

No, I’ll be writing everything myself, unless some other talented writers step up and help contribute. I’m not especially keen on writing a complete walkthough actually, since there are lots of sites that can do that just fine, but I will do everything in my power to have a complete guide for all the secrets, rewards, achievements, unlockables, etc, here first. I have quite a bit of experience at those sorts of guides.

It also largely depends on how the game plays. It’s hard to say exactly what I’m going to write about before we know what the game is entirely about.

Hey, admin. The whole “Sonic World Adventure” thing is starting to seem like the real deal. Take a look at this.

    http://seganerdsforums.com/index.php/topic,1415.msg27341.html#msg27341

The person is a writer from SegaOn, and he says the name is real, it wasn’t supposed to be leaked since Sega of Japan had an embargo on it.

It isn’t a 100% confirmation, but the evidence so far strongly suggests Sonic World Adventure is the final name.

Sonic World Adventure?! I could live with it, but Sonic Adventure 3: Unleashed sounds way better!

  28. Nano Says:
    Reply to this comment

If the game is about to put another title i think sonic unleashed will sound better because that THE BEAST WAS UNLEASHED TO THE WORLD AND IT WAS UNLEASHED SOMETHING ON SONIC ´S BODY SOMETHING LIKE WEREWOLF.Well that ´s the reason and sonic adventure 3 will sound really good because(like you said BLAKE):
Sonic Adventure 1: Eggman wakes up Chaos a creature intent on destroying the world.
Sonic Adventure 2: Eggman wakes up Shadow a hedgehog intent on blowing up the world.
Sonic Adventure 3: Eggman wakes up some sort of evil monster thing a creature intent on shattering the world.I WOULD LIKE EVERYONE TO COMMENT THIS IF HIS RIGHT OR NOT!maybe i can understand your reasons!!!!!!!!

@… (interesting name choice) – This is a site about Sonic Unleashed because I really am of the opinion that SEGA is back to doing Sonic right again. The fact that they’re taking a few steps back before continuing to walk forward makes me believe that they’ve finally realized they were going in the wrong direction with Sonic as of late.

If Sonic Unleashed is as fun as I hope it will be, I’ll probably expand the scope of the site to encompass future titles as well as other Sonic related news.

Hi, It’s Me again. I just wanted to know why Camp Sonic never updates. Ever. Sonic Unleashed, aka Sonic World Adventure in Japan, has been out nearly a year. You guys promised you’d update when it came out, add gameplay videos, and add a guide. Before Unleashed was released (Rhyme, hehe) on November 25 or 24, 2008, I was totally relying on you guys. But sadly, Camp Sonic right now is a complete and utter fail.
Anyways, I know how you all hate new characters and all, but Chip was one of the best. Hee…hence my name.
