Sonic is indeed Unleashed

We’re not here to disappoint anyone who might have gotten excited about all the “Sonic World Adventure” hype, but Sega confirmed today that the official title IS and WILL BE Sonic Unleashed.

Speculation is fun sometimes, but it’s always important to wait for the official word before taking anything too seriously. According to ArchangelUK from the Sonic City Blognik, the game was at one point called “Sonic World Adventure”, but has since been changed.

In case you haven’t been keeping up with our discussions, you can find out what the heck we’re talking about after the jump.

Some Sonic fans stumbled into a listing on Amazon recently featuring a Prima Strategy Guide for “Sonic World Adventure“. Even more startling than this unheard of title was the release date attached to it, November 4th, which happens to match up with most unofficially announced retail release dates for Sonic Unleashed.

As you can probably imagine, this quickly led to confusion in the Sonic community, but such confusion was quickly put to rest at the Sonic City Blognik:

“I’m sure you’ve heard the rumour, that we’re changing Sonic Unleashed’s name. Sorry folks. No we’re not.”

Sonic World Adventure was an old name for the game, which has since been retitled as we all know. Prima simply hasn’t updated their title on their listings quite yet.

i think it has to do with a marketing aspact because the sonic adventure series were more populair in japan than they where in EU and US that’s the reason they called it SONIC UNLEASHED in EU and US and SONIC WORLD ADVENTURE in JAPAN look for your self: http://sonic.sega.jp/SonicWorldAdventure/#/index so now you can consider that there are two names emplyed to this game it’s all done out of a marketing perspective (remember folks Dreamcast wasn’t so populair in EU) but in the US it was but i think they have their reasons

This is a little late, but…

YES! I’m so happy that the name is still Sonic Unleashed. Sonic World Adventure woule reminded me too much of Marine the racoon, whom I LOATH. LOATH LOATH.

If anyone likes Marine… that’s just my opinion.

Guys if I could give you a more up to date fact sheet then I would, things are still in flux at this stage and as usual with such things nothing is set in stone – apart from the OBIVIOUS naturally. Hopefully we’ll have some more stuff heading your way very soon by way of Unleashed news.

    Ta.

    AAUK

AAUK FTW…yet again. Heh, can’t wait to see if that promo video gets leaked. XD

admin: A more indepth fact sheet would be great, considering how some people are getting a bit confused on some details.

The sheer amount of people asking about Chao Gardens is staggering. Well, considering the environment of the game and Hashimoto having been the Lead Chao Programmer in Sonic Adventure 2, it’s a good possibility. BUT THEN AGAIN, NOTHING IS FOR CERTAIN FOR NOW. Until then, there is going to be a Chao Garden in Sonic Chronicles. It’ll probably not be the same as the SA1 and SA2 gardens though, but it’ll help ya get through the two month wait you’ll have for Unleashed. (Chronicles in September, Unleashed in November, possible delays not withstanding)

I actually think that one of the things that sets Camp Sonic apart right now are our more structured topic oriented discussions. I really think those are going to fade away if we establish a forum at Camp Sonic right now.

Forums might be something that we add in the future, possibly closer to the release of Sonic Unleashed. They could come earlier, and they might not come at all.

Regardless, we’re still going to strive to be the #1 Sonic Unleashed Resource :)

Dragonite… once this site gets a forum… that is when the angry people will arrive. Maybe… he should wai until after Sonic Unleashed arrives. If that game is good, no one will be angry enough to… “troll” as you say it… right?

Have you thought about the site future a bit admin?
The site is running more smooth than ever, mostly because there aren’t much trolls around.
Did you decide on the forum matter yet?

And don’t sonic games come out first in japan?

    @blah…okay:
Rather Sonic Rush Unleashed then? But no, Rush’s story is way different from Adventure/Unleashed’s stories, where everything centers around Sonic and Blaze.

Why not call the game, “Sonic Rush 3.” That makes the most sense. Or for people without handhelds… call the game “Sonic Rush!”

Eh, it really doesn’t matter to me either way if the title is SA3 or Sonic Unleashed. However, what does bug me is that when Sonic Team says that “a new Sonic game will have Sonic ‘unleashed’”, they immediatley think of how Shadow was “unleased” in Shadow the Hedgehog. It might drive some people away.

However, that’s just my dumb opinoin. ^_^
