Sonic is indeed Unleashed

We’re not here to disappoint anyone who might have gotten excited about all the “Sonic World Adventure” hype, but Sega confirmed today that the official title IS and WILL BE Sonic Unleashed.

Speculation is fun sometimes, but it’s always important to wait for the official word before taking anything too seriously. According to ArchangelUK from the Sonic City Blognik, the game was at one point called “Sonic World Adventure”, but has since been changed.

In case you haven’t been keeping up with our discussions, you can find out what the heck we’re talking about after the jump.

Some Sonic fans stumbled into a listing on Amazon recently featuring a Prima Strategy Guide for “Sonic World Adventure“. Even more startling than this unheard of title was the release date attached to it, November 4th, which happens to match up with most unofficially announced retail release dates for Sonic Unleashed.

As you can probably imagine, this quickly led to confusion in the Sonic community, but such confusion was quickly put to rest at the Sonic City Blognik:

“I’m sure you’ve heard the rumour, that we’re changing Sonic Unleashed’s name. Sorry folks. No we’re not.”

Sonic World Adventure was an old name for the game, which has since been retitled as we all know. Prima simply hasn’t updated their title on their listings quite yet.

I agree Sonic Unleashed sounds alot better then Sonic World Adventure. Though it does show that Sonic Team seriously considered (and I suppose still do) Sonic Unleashed as Sonic Adventure 3.

I think it should of been Sonic Adventure 3.

    “I was bored”

Sonic Adventure 3 and Sonic Unleashed both sound better than Sonic World Adventure to my ears. It’s just too wordy, almost hard to say. I’m glad they dropped the idea of Sonic Adventure 3 though… I would have probably ignored it after the last 2.

Yeah, can’t say I was a fan of… well, really any of the games for “next-gen” consoles, or any of the recent installments at that. It’s all my personal take on things, but I still remain one of the old school Sonic fans.

To be fair though, I can count the number of games I’ve tremendously enjoyed on one or two hands. There are plenty of games out there that I’ve found enjoyable, but only a select few become favorites of mine. The first few Sonic titles certainly are up there.

I like the way ADMIN handled the “do you like Sonic Adventure” situation.

Anyway, this could be called… Sonic X-treme…? If Sega makes a game called “Sonic X-treme” it’d… do something…

    I personally loved SA2:B personnally.
    ”personnally”
    The word says it.
It has sonic charm, but I liked all around, and did’t really knew anything of sonic at that time.
So that is why the shooting and hunting did’t bother me at all,I instead loved the varation.

And of a side note,I have a few hillarious mistakes that I made with that game.
Like mistaking the truck case for a boss, and I tried to attack it… :P

    Good and frustating times..

I guess Unleashed is good too.

Well, We can’t just say sonic unleashed is going to be good.
Because, We thot sonic the hedgehog (Sonic Next-Gen/Sonic the Disaster) was going to be the BEST soinic game ever.
But, it was a DISASTER! But I will say this, the game called Sonic Unleashed is a good name for it. Because, sonic’s werehog form is going to be unleashed! that’s why it shud be called soinic unleashed. Duh. Or it can be called sonic adventure 3. But I will steel say sonic unleashed is bedder.
Sonic unleashed is coming November 4th 2008! :D

I think Unleashed is a better name then ‘Sonic World Adventure’.There’s already 4 Sonic games that has the world ‘Adventure’ in the title already: Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Rush Adventure, and now Sonic World Adventure? It’s really unoriginal

Plus, like I’ve said before, I don’t think it’s a good idea to change it to Sonic Adventure 3 either. Sonic Unleashed doesn’t play like the Sonic Adventure games and all it’s going to do is attract all the fans who wants a third game. Hell, Sonic the Hedgehog for the PS3/360 is more like Sonic Adventure 3 then this.

Hey folks, thought I’d quickly drop a note here letting you all know I’m cooking up something that should come in real handy for ya. I wasn’t too impressed with Sega’s fact sheet (as you may have noticed), so I’m putting together a much more comprehensive one of my own.

Hopefully will have it up by tomorrow.

It may be coming out November 4th 2008, but which country? Probably America. Dang, we British have only got one game first, which was Mario Kart Wii, and the Americans started complaining!
(No insult to anyone American here.)

Eh, it really doesn’t matter to me either way if the title is SA3 or Sonic Unleashed. However, what does bug me is that when Sonic Team says that “a new Sonic game will have Sonic ‘unleashed’”, they immediatley think of how Shadow was “unleased” in Shadow the Hedgehog. It might drive some people away.

However, that’s just my dumb opinoin. ^_^

Why not call the game, “Sonic Rush 3.” That makes the most sense. Or for people without handhelds… call the game “Sonic Rush!”

    @blah…okay:
Rather Sonic Rush Unleashed then? But no, Rush’s story is way different from Adventure/Unleashed’s stories, where everything centers around Sonic and Blaze.

Have you thought about the site future a bit admin?
The site is running more smooth than ever, mostly because there aren’t much trolls around.
Did you decide on the forum matter yet?

And don’t sonic games come out first in japan?

Dragonite… once this site gets a forum… that is when the angry people will arrive. Maybe… he should wai until after Sonic Unleashed arrives. If that game is good, no one will be angry enough to… “troll” as you say it… right?

I actually think that one of the things that sets Camp Sonic apart right now are our more structured topic oriented discussions. I really think those are going to fade away if we establish a forum at Camp Sonic right now.

Forums might be something that we add in the future, possibly closer to the release of Sonic Unleashed. They could come earlier, and they might not come at all.

Regardless, we’re still going to strive to be the #1 Sonic Unleashed Resource :)

AAUK FTW…yet again. Heh, can’t wait to see if that promo video gets leaked. XD

admin: A more indepth fact sheet would be great, considering how some people are getting a bit confused on some details.

The sheer amount of people asking about Chao Gardens is staggering. Well, considering the environment of the game and Hashimoto having been the Lead Chao Programmer in Sonic Adventure 2, it’s a good possibility. BUT THEN AGAIN, NOTHING IS FOR CERTAIN FOR NOW. Until then, there is going to be a Chao Garden in Sonic Chronicles. It’ll probably not be the same as the SA1 and SA2 gardens though, but it’ll help ya get through the two month wait you’ll have for Unleashed. (Chronicles in September, Unleashed in November, possible delays not withstanding)

Guys if I could give you a more up to date fact sheet then I would, things are still in flux at this stage and as usual with such things nothing is set in stone – apart from the OBIVIOUS naturally. Hopefully we’ll have some more stuff heading your way very soon by way of Unleashed news.

YES! I’m so happy that the name is still Sonic Unleashed. Sonic World Adventure woule reminded me too much of Marine the racoon, whom I LOATH. LOATH LOATH.

If anyone likes Marine… that’s just my opinion.

i think sonic ‘06 should of have been called sonic adventure 3 because it has the same aspescts of the first 2 games

i think it has to do with a marketing aspact because the sonic adventure series were more populair in japan than they where in EU and US that’s the reason they called it SONIC UNLEASHED in EU and US and SONIC WORLD ADVENTURE in JAPAN look for your self: http://sonic.sega.jp/SonicWorldAdventure/#/index so now you can consider that there are two names emplyed to this game it’s all done out of a marketing perspective (remember folks Dreamcast wasn’t so populair in EU) but in the US it was but i think they have their reasons
