New Sonic Unleashed Europe Gameplay Footage

It figures that the same day I make a case of there being no new Sonic Unleashed content, a brand new Sonic Unleashed Trailer is posted. I actually am not even around a computer at this point, so I’ll leave it up to you folks to talk about the video I’m posting, and join in when I am able to watch it myself. Update Below!

Enjoy! And really… Tell me what it’s about in the comments! I’ll have a more official update in the next few hours.

Update!!!

Found a working connection so that I could make a real update (and watch the video myself)! This new Sonic Unleashed video from the Xbox 360 features 2 full minutes of beautiful gameplay, chuck full of new gameplay elements, and incredible visuals of the Europe stage (which we pointed out was the 4th stage of Sonic Unleashed).

IGN’s posted both a low and high resolution version of the video, which you can grab here.

I noticed a few things I haven’t seen before during my first watch, such as Skydiving through tunnels with spikes floating around, and popups for when to press buttons to avoid danger. I’ll be updating our Facts Unleashed page soon, so if you notice anything new, be sure to share in the comments!

I thought I was excited when I saw the first trailer for this game… but now Sega’s raised my expectations to a whole new level.

Thanks for the heads up ‘blah… ok’!

Update 2!!!

You can grab a High Resolution High Europe Sonic Unleashed Trailer for free now!

  1. WOW! I CAN’T WAIT IT LOOKS SO AWSOME! WOW!…again

  2. @Sonic&Luigidude: There are, Sega already confirmed there are upgrades (We talk about it on our Facts Unleashed Page). Not 100% sure if you find them, or purchase them right now.

@Ssonic22: Does it look like England? I’ve been around Europe, but wasn’t able to make my way to England on my first go. To me, it looked an awful lot like Florence, Italy. That said, I’m guessing Sega is trying to simply do a generic Europe look that encompasses a good number of countries.

  3. GORGEUS! This will be THE BEST SONIC GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!

  4. whoooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!i need to buy this game when its coming no matter what!!!!this is the best sonic game adventure YET!!!!!!!!!!

  5. wow this is immense, my mouth is dry after watching it! everyone’s right about the catchy music, and I really love the dodging ‘just-in-time’ parts :D this game is only getting better! i just hope that the Wii version will be close to this greatness :)

  6. Well damn. Thats all i could come up with to say. This is very nice to see that its running this great and there is still about 4 or 5 months for development. Alot of little things remind me of SA2 especially that boost sound effect, very nice. You can tell that they are alot further into development than the first trailer. I was very happy to see the tricks after homing attacks, but my only question the whole time was Wheres the Spindash? Does he not need it anymore? Anyways great vid, love the music, Lets hope they keep up the flow till release. Oh once again

As of now, Sonic trailer is now the second most watched trailer on IGN next to the new Punisher game’s trailer. w00t

…and with good reason, this looks utterly awesome, naysayers be assaulted with duct tape!

admin- So, that isn’t your logo at the right sidebar? Ha, considering how good you’ve been with visuals, it’s sort of jarring to think that wasn’t yours! …it reminds me a bit of the logo they’ve got for Sonic Chronicles, only that instead of the shading they used to make it look 3D-ish, this one is completely flat. It’s a bit more jarring that way, along with the cracks in the letters. The big SLASH in it, also makes me think of the power of Sonic’s werewolf form and how the world was essentially broken. The slash overlaps with the Sonic name but NOT with Unleashed under it, which is a NICE subtle touch. This one is rockin’, I wonder how much it differs from the early mock-up logo from back when they were using Sonic World Adventure.

  8. @iNAUDiBLE: Well, I created that graphic if that’s what you mean. The logo itself (inside of the graphic) was recreated by me after I watched the new gameplay footage (it’s shown at the very end). I made a high resolution version of it which you can see here:

    Sonic Unleashed Logo

  9. iNAUDiBLE June 17, 2008

@admin: Yet again, you win at life. Along with whatever person made the original logo. Both versions are excellent and I can’t wait to see that thing plastered on an actual game box. :D

  10. @admin:
yes but wasnt that Big Ben in the beggining? Im sure it is… I wonder if an icey level will appear =D

  11. HoggerTheHedgehog June 17, 2008

    omgg!! this looks amazing!!!
    I can’t wait!!:D

  12. @Ssonic22: Yes, it certainly does look like Big Ben in the beginning of the video. Here’s a shot that I took in Florence that I was sort of reminded of during the video. I’ve never been to London, so I’m not sure if it’s really comparable or not :P

  13. iNAUDiBLE June 17, 2008

@Ssonic22: Antarctica is a continent, so I suspect that maybe we’ll be seeing that one as well. :D

Considering that one of my favorite bands tried to set a record to play shows in all seven continents on Earth in the shortest amount of time, it’s going to be cool to see our favorite hedgehog set a record to collect all the Chaos Emeralds in all seven continents of a slightly different Earth in the shortest amount of time. (And succeed) :P

…wait, didn’t the Nintendo Power article on it show Sonic in what appeared to be space? Possibilities, eh? Possibilities…

  14. LOOK!!!I LIVE ON EUROPE(PORTUGAL and i am portuguese)AND I AM TELLING YA IT REALLY LOOKS LIKE EUROPE!!!!great job SEGA

  15. Oh. My. God. I’m smiling right now. It looks so amazing! I must pre-order it…

  16. …..o.0 OH…MY….GOD……

THIS IS THE SONIC GAME THAT I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!! It looks so awesome!!!! I can’t wait to get this!!!!!!

  17. Whoa that was some awesome footage! Sonic Unleashed is gearin’ up to be a big game and as new videos / pictures pop up I’m getting more and more anxious to get it! The big drop around 1:23 was breath taking.

Thanks Camp Sonic for the awesome updates!

  18. @admin:
wow!!! it certainly looks like it. youre right, but now that I look at it again, its not identical to Big Ben, so I guess its not London…

  19. dragonite June 17, 2008

My theorie is that the level sort of combines cities of europe.
The wall in the beginning looks like the colosseum in Rome.

  20. wow!i wish that this game was out for the pc!

  21. jorenmartijn June 17, 2008

It looks way cool, and I don’t see why the Wii shouldn’t be able to handle those kinds of graphics!
I am however a little worried that some parts are too simple, like in the loops, where I think a backways camera would be better than a sideways view.

  22. THAT WAS LIKE WOW. I just stared at the screen in amazement. If SEGA keeps it up this may be their big break. BTW the music was to die for in this trailer.

  23. Did anyone else see the balloons?

  24. iNAUDiBLE June 17, 2008

@admin: I saw the balloons! I guess they’re to get you to the platform above the narrow passage that you press B to slide into. …the sliding looked cooler in my opinion, but hey, balloons!

Also, I noticed the slow frame rate when Sonic was jumping into the tunnel with the floating spike balls…maybe they’re doing that for a more cinimatic effect, but if that’s so, it needs a bit more polish, I reckon. :P

  25. I actually counted 12 of them in the video. Some of them seemed a bit out of place to be used like that. We’ll see.

  26. That was insanely awsome and it really resembles “Florence” SEGA and the NEW sonic team are gonna make a big comeback Sonic Drift seems to be an awsome addition to sonics arsenal of moves

I noticed at the beggining the level seemed extremely complex and hard to get around but after watching that video im impressed and convinced that this is the perfect fusion of Sonic Adventure, Sonic Rush and the Creatively and well based ideas of Yoshihisa Hashimoto

  27. did u see the part when he was jumping from rail 2 rail. you need good hand- eye corrdination to do that perfectly since everything was moving so frikin fast.

  28. yeah that was pretty sick, this new sonic drift was used better than i thought and the button pressing sequence adds 2 a whole new dynamic of controlling sonic speed because people are always complaining that he’s 2 hard too control and so i think this will help alot and provide that old Shenmue Action feel

  29. Link451 June 18, 2008

Well, it looks good. I just hope the Werewolf gameplay works. Still, something doesn’t feel right. I have an odd feeling that a lot of people are still going to dislike this game despite what Sonic Team’s saying…

  30. @ Link451
You know, that odd feeling may be because the camera is actually quite frantic at the moment. It switches from 2.5D to 3D to somewhere in between (you know, those shots that are at an angle… like at 0:30 to 0:32) quite randomly… that’s the only thing worrying me right now. However, the controls look tighter than before, and it’s definitely MUCH faster than any 3D Sonic game I’ve played/seen.

hmmm and the game covers all 7 continents hey? lol i’d like to see what the australian one looks like. XD
OH! and it’d be lovely to have a vegas run… i hope team sonic shoves one in. *can’t wait for the pretty neon lights and pinball machines*

  31. jorenmartijn June 18, 2008

I’m just also wondering how they’ll pull off the button pressing (like the side-stepping in those small alleys/streets) using the Wii Remote/Nunchuk combo. Perhaps by flicking the Wii Remote to either the left or right? And I sure hope there’s also a Secret Rings-style control (holding the Wii Remote in both hands, bit like Mario Kart does), since it worked, just needed refinement.

  32. reqwezx June 18, 2008

Wow thats really quick, lots of action!!

  33. look it really to the sonic adventure series but this is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY much better!!!!it looks like reality

  34. TailstheHedgehog June 18, 2008

I really hope Australia is inunleashed. How cool would it be to fight eggmans baddies on Sydney Harbour Bridge. ooooooooooo the videos got me all excited I really cant wait oh and just a random question if anybody knows has Sonic eva actually run at the speed of sound in the games?

  35. TailstheHedgehog June 18, 2008

@Link451: hope not, the whole wolf-sonic thing is a little worrying but I’m staying optimistic that sonic team will pull it off…………like I did last time……….and the time before that……. No no no remain optimistic!

  36. Setembro June 18, 2008

Were can I download the HD for free please help Camp Sonic

  37. @Setembro: I’ve been looking myself for a free one, but wasn’t able to find it. I ended up shelling out a couple of bucks to IGN to watch theres (in hopes that I’ll use it for something else eventually).

    I’ll keep an eye out.

  38. Stefan Apostol June 18, 2008

All I can say is that it’s about darn time to see Sonic how he should be. If this game does not get Sonic back on top of the charts where he should be, then something is wrong with the videogame world. The level is very fast paced, I really like the idea of the town stages to calm the player down, becasue if its only just levels, then it could get very tiring after a while.

If the game so far looks and plays this clean, i can’t imagine how good it will be when it releases.

    Long live Sonic.

  39. @admin: yes! a blue one, he jumped to it, popped and propelled him up.

  40. sonicboy2 June 18, 2008

if this does not get at least 9.7 when it comes out i will be speechless.

  41. Chaos Blast June 18, 2008

I have watched this six times. It’s just… Wow. Really, REALLY Fast.

  42. Sση¡Ć ΓħЄ ĦeÐġeħōӘ June 18, 2008

The whole town stage in Sonic 06 was a good idea, just poorly executed and rushed. I think in Unleased, the town environment should be close to the type of environment the level is. If the level is a snow level, make town snowy and have a trail up a mountain or valley that leads to the level. Make the town stages blend into the level. Don’t use a cheap way out, like in Sonic 06 (teleporting mirrors). Also SEGA should impliment some type of mini games in the town levels, but keep them to the theme of the town.

just a thought. please comment on this if you like.

  43. I totally agree that the levels should be accessed by taking paths branching from the main hubs.

I also agree the hubs should be themed appropriately like in Sonic Adventure.

  44. Chaos Blast June 18, 2008

By the way, admin, I’ve uploaded a piece of my SU Fanwork to Photobucket. Here’s a link…
    http://s288.photobucket.com/albums/ll194/SpectralArc/?action=view&current=DSCF1586.jpg

You should make a Fanwork page. :)

  45. dragonite June 18, 2008

I just hope that sega handles the loading times better.
Loading alone isn’t a bit deal, but repeated long loading in levels and the TERRIBLE re-loading on town mission for each little extra thing that need to be loaded, like a TEXTBOX.

Yeah,I rather have that fixed, even if the loading times become even longer,it only will be once.

  46. Sση¡Ć ΓħЄ ĦeÐġeħōӘ June 18, 2008

One thing that SEGA should not due is use real people. Use animals, and make them have their own character. If there will be a snow town, use some penquins… make them live in cabins, and supply Sonic with information and guidance. Heck why not give him some Chilli Dogs. Thats what the Sonic games have been missing, give Sonic some Chilli Dogs. LOL.

Anyways, Sonic is a fantasy character, leave him in a fantasy world.

  47. dragonite June 18, 2008

I am okay with real people, mostly because of the real world inspired stages.
But sega needs to depict them right, and watch out with cross species kisses on the mouth.
Okay,I did´t mind, but the ruckus it caused is amusing.

  48. iNAUDiBLE June 18, 2008

@Sση¡Ć ΓħЄ ĦeÐġeħōӘ: While I have to admit that I liked that idea being used in Sonic Rush Adventure, that was Blaze’s world…and well, seeing as Sonic doesn’t live in a world entirely in fantasy (It’s essentially an alternate Earth with anthomorphic animals, more world destroying monsters and a giant talking egg with plans to build an empire with his slightly dorky lookin’ robots. That fantastic enough for ya? :D ), I see no reason not to use humans, perhaps with a mix of the animals like the Flickies. I mean, the only time that the human involvement was bad was when humans had a VERY central role in the plot, not being NPCs, not being supporting characters, not being in flashbacks, a CENTRAL role…which the only time that happened was in Sonic ‘06, which Sonic Team has been trying to distance itself from. They DID say that they were going to use “stylized humans”, which makes me wonder what style they’re going to use…So long as they all aren’t too dull and ONE of them owns a chili dog stand, I personally wouldn’t mind. ’sides, humans are technically animals. :P

  49. i think its good because Sonic is in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (take a deep breath) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure it really dose get made
