New Nintendo Power Scans for Wii Sonic Unleashed

Nintendo Power Scans for Sonic Unleashed Wii

It’s really late.  I’m a bit under the weather.  I keep getting emails filled with scans from the latest Nintendo Power.  This won’t be a lengthy update, and I’ll leave you to do the reading for now (in case you’ve missed them elsewhere).  Otherwise, you can expect a more full take on everything tomorrow or Monday.

    @Kev:

    I was thinking of that to.
    Some slight problems would be that the devenloper is totally diffirent.
    but on the other hand,you don’t need a cable this time…

    @dragonite:
    Wasn’t Pokemon Battle Revolution made by another developer than GameFreak?
    If communication is possible between that and Pokemon DS, I don’t think it should be hard to set up between BioWare and Sega’s development teams.

    @jorenmartijn:
    true,but the internal mechananics of pokemon are the same.
    I mean that it simply works the same as the handheld battle system,but 3-d.

    But sonic cronicles is a total different game.
    It depends on the question of sega contacted them eary about connection.

    SEGA can produce the best games ever but they just seem to get lazy at the last minutes and mess up everything ( i think they were drinking redbull at the sonic adventure days XD )

    The problem is that if they added a cool thing or a feature and planned to add another in the next game they just remove the old one instead of keeping it.

  5. Chao Garden would be awesome! but it would probably only be on the wii version if it was going to connect to chronicles or a Chao channel. which is fine with me.

  6. Careful about getting to excited for something that hasn’t even been confirmed ;)

    @Tobibrocki:
    I don’t think so… didn’t they announce it was coming out on November 11? I’m not sure, but some stores said it was going to be out on the 4th…
    They weren’t that far off. :)

  8. but wait on http://www.gamespot.com i saw an interview with patrick riley in person and the host asked : so what about chao’s and chao garden? and riley replied with we’ll talk about that at a later date (the host ONLY said chao and chao garden nothing else) check it out at gamespot.com and search sonic unleashed youll find the interview in videos

  9. I’ve seen that video interview, but I’ll give it another look. I had thought they had mentioned some other things (such as night gameplay) when he responded like that, but maybe I’m mistaken.

  10. Sonic The Hedgehog June 30, 2008

    I agree with the admin people and i think you should too ;)

  11. blahblahblahdont June 30, 2008

    I bought Sonic 1 on Xbox live arcade… and that was the worst game ever. There were no treasure hunting levels, but Sonic 1 is just awful… terrible.

    I hope Sonic Unleashed is better than Sonic 1. I am only upset because it costed me MONEY! Classic or not..; Sonic 1 is classicly horrible.

  12. blahblahblahdont June 30, 2008

    I know this game is supposed to return to “roots” but I find most genesis/snes games unplayable at this point.

  13. @Sonic the Hedgehog: I agree with you Admin knows their stuff but i checked that interview and the guy only said chao plus Admin said their checking the video again

  14. You bought a port. Most ports of the griginal game (take Sonic the Hedgehog:Genesis on the GBA for instance) are bug-ridden horrible pieces of crap.

    You need a better version than that to truly enjoy it. If you have a GC, buy Sonic Mega Collection.

    Just try other versions of the same game before saying it’s absolute crap, thats all I’m saying.

    Also, there were no treasure hunting levels because it was a 2D Platformer. All you do is try to get to the end of the levels and beat the bosses at the end. There isn’t much more depth than that.

    The point of all Sonic games is to be FAST. Blazing fast. If you don’t like fast platformers, steer clear of the Sonic series altogether.

    I’m done with my rant now. Continue with discussion please.

  15. WAIT. c r a p is censored? I don’t consider that a curse word. There are much worse words out there you know. Just saying…

  16. it is? lemme write it crap

  17. what the fuck?

  18. really ? i dont swere but its funny that c-r-a-p is censored

  19. blahblahblahdont June 30, 2008

    @RGamer:
    I do not find Sonic 1 fast at all. I just thought I’d let you know that.

  20. blahblahblahdont June 30, 2008

    @RGamer:
    I do not find Sonic 1 fast at all. I just thought I’d let you know that.

    “If you don’t like fast platformers, stay away from Sonic all together.”

    Rgamer, when in my post did I say I have a problem with Sonic being fast? Please, enlighten me. Also, when did I indicated that I “want” treasure hunting levels? Last time I checked, they disgusted me.

  21. why’d you say theyre were no treasure hunting levels

  22. blahblahblahblahblahno June 30, 2008

    No treasure hunting levels is what would’ve theoretically raised Sonic Adventure 2’s scores (in terms of reviews.)

    In some cases… it would seem that a Sonic game in which Sonic simply runs without distraction would be perfect. But Sonic 1…

  23. blahblabhblahblahdont June 30, 2008

    It doesn’t matter anyway… when Sega says Sonic is coming home, I think they mean in terms of “positive reviews” and “2d parts.” The game itself looks like Sonic Rush 3.

    This game looks nothing like Sonic 1 anyway… but the werewolf parts may feel like that game. (In terms of the difference in speed.)

  24. JAMMING! June 30, 2008

    The genesis Sonic games are a bit simple, and seem a bit incomplete unless you combine Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. This is coming from a non-Sega fan.

    In the 3d games, Sega used treasure hunting and adventure fields to make the game long. Think of how short Sonic Adventure if you “knew” where to find the levels at first. 1 hour?

    In this game, there is no treasure hunting, and no mandatory adventure fields. The genesis games were “fun,” but there is no way I am paying full price for a game of that length. If this game is to be long, it’d need huge levels… like Sonic Heroes. If the levels are short… will Sega charge full price? Sonic games are generally straight-foward, and reviewers may be very critical of this.

  25. JAMMING! June 30, 2008

    Its good that there is no mandatory hunting… but how will Sega expand this game, if charging full price? Long levels?

  26. Tobibrocki June 30, 2008

    The game actually HAs long levels, they mentined in an interview that ONLY the SHORTEST was 6 Miles long! O.o

  27. @admin: Was it even mentioned? I was a fan, and it would keep me going fo hours.

  28. @blahblahblahdont: If you didnt realize this . . . that is where everything sprouted, and if you’d play through the other games, you’d also realize they get progressively better.

  29. @blahblahblahdont
    what R U TALKING ABOUT!
    That is what started it all and it was a really great game.
    if you want clasic feces then play super mario bros. cause that game is HORRIBLE. Nothing clataclismic and boring throughout cause u couldnt even fight the big stupid turtle dragon thing. After that i never looked at another mario game again. Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) being the first game i had ever played was great more action, longer levels and you acctually had to fight at the end.

  30. Sonic The hedgehog June 30, 2008

    LOL! The shortest is 6 miles? ofcourse it is XD . The sonic boost will allow you to run at 300mph hahaha ;) ( ok a little math folks. 300mph in 60 minutes which means you can clear that level at exactly 5 minutes zero seconds XD )

  31. dragonite July 1, 2008

    @:

    I think that is a bit short-sighted.
    Some people like mario more,some like sonic more.
    So what?
    I am more of a sonic guy,but all mario games I played are very good in design,which sonic lacks last years.(save from handheld).
    But this game may break the trend.

  32. sweet 6 miles at least five minutes thats alot of content and guys we also got platforming action packed night levels combined with were sonic. that’s a good puzzle solving tarzan esque gameplay

  33. justam July 1, 2008

    @: i played mario galaxy. that was fun in its own way. I liked the original sonic games because of the adrenalin rush it gave. the closest game that’s provided a similar adrenalin rush is the burnout 3, and even then it was different. It feels infinitely better to see a hedgehog run around loops than seeing a car drift.

  34. blahblahblahblahdont July 1, 2008

    @:
    I agree with you, for the fact that I do not believe something is best just because it is “classic.” That includes people saying the original Super Mario Bros is better than Super Mario Galaxy.

    Even if a game came out in 1991… I’m not into the sentimental rubbish and I can read enough problems with it so I do not consider it superior. Somethings, I can understood are “good for their time.”
    ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((9

    With that being said, a CAR TRAVELLING AT 60 MILES PER HOUR can clear 6 miles in 6 MINUTES! That means, if Sonic travels at 300 miles per hour, he can clear 6 miles in…. 6 divided by 5 minutes. 300 MPH is 5 times greater than 60 MPH. Can someone calculate how long that level is?

  35. blahblahblahblahdont July 1, 2008

    At 300 miles per hour, 6 miles is under 5 minutes. Remember, a car at 60 miles per hour can clear 6 miles in 6 minutes! 300 miles per hour is 5 times longer than that.

  36. isnt it 300 mph÷60 mins equals 5 minutes? cause 5×60=300 so wouldnt sonic clear 6 miles in 5 mins?

  37. dragonite July 1, 2008

    and there where screenshot with the time being 12 mins,but that could be a slow test run.

  38. It would be nearly impossible to estimate level times without seeing the level designs. Remember, in order to achieve 5 minutes, you would need to be going 300 MPH from start to finish (that is, right off the bat, 300 MPH… no acceleration).

    It may take time to achieve a top speed. It may also be that the designs are not perfectly linear (actually, we know they aren’t based on footage we’ve seen). It may also be that we encounter enemies such as bosses in the stages which we’ll have to deal with as well.

  39. Christian July 1, 2008

    As the admin said, there will be more than just a huge plain for Sonic to run. It will take probably about 10 minutes for a level, I think.

  40. yeah your right
