1-4 Players in Sonic Unleashed?
As our reader Zink120 pointed out, the latest scans from games TM (which you ought to go check out if you haven’t seen)seems to indicate that Sonic Unleashed will feature multiplayer abilities.
Wait… what?
Wasn’t it only a few weeks ago at Sega’s Gamer’s Day where we heard…
The forced split-screen face-offs in the Sonic Adventure games are out. Unleashed is a single-player only experience. There will not be a multiplayer mode of any kind, according to SEGA.
Now, in the side-column of games TM, we’re seeing “Players: 1-4“…
Bit of a conflict here… We’re not sure what to believe. Did SEGA screw up in their reporting earlier? Has time allowed for some rapid development in the multiplayer area of the game? Did games TM have a misprint? If the moon were made of cheese, would’ya eat it?

This is interesting.. I won’t believe it ’til I see it confirmed by SEGA, though. Unless.. there really is a Chao garden and that’s the multiplayer. >>; Ok, doubt that. And yes, I’d like a taste of the moon if it were made out of cheese. 8P

Maybe the multi-player elements are in the minigames only, and therefore since they were disscussing the main game of Sonic Unleashed…they said it was single player only.
Or the multiplayer mode is online only, and therefore not split screen. LOL

i think that it might be mini-game multi-player or online if there is no split screen.
I honestly think it’s a typo.
This is odd.
Could one of them have made a mistake? Could Sega have been lying to us, or are they referring to mini-games or CHAO GARDEN?
We may have to wait to find out.
Also they said that there were seven parts of the world so…
Could the other two levels maybe be a space level at the beginning and maybe a level at the core of the earth? but if that were so how would you make an over world? They could just do what they did in Sonic Adventure like the egg carrier.
Also, this game is still called Sonic World Adventure!!! Which could be a good sign for Chao!!!
Guys, don’t eat the moon, we need it in Sonic Unleashed!
To me, this sounds like a typo. I’ll believe SEGA’s official statement unless otherwise informed.
I really want a multiplayer mode especially a co-op perhaps not in the story itself but after you have completed each level. But it is most likely a mis-print.
I wouldn’t eat the moon. Remove the Earths axis and we’d be a spinning ball of death! D8

@Mike: I actually hope it’s not true. I would rather see them put their time and effort into the actual game than have a mediocre game with mediocre multi-player.

MEGATON. If this happens, insta-buy over Gears 2 for me. For real. 95% chance of this being accidental though, happens a lot in games.
if the moon dissapeared then the earth would start having freakish weather because of the rapid change of magnetic polls TT_TT

I have a strong feeling that this is a typo. My bets are on Sega debunking this during E3.
Hope the multiplayer is true if not oh well, i can live without, as long as the game is good who cares.

I thought that Eggman destroyed half of the moon in sonic adventure two and it was filled with fire!
How can Sonic even become weresonic?
They should at least have some kind of machine half (run by eggman of course).

I know man that is what I’m thinking. I remeber at the end of Sonic 06 where the scene ended with Sonic looking up to the moon. Which gave me confusion and now I relealized that in Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Heroes both show the moon. Also a Full moon only comes when it is not cloudy and only for six times a month.

Hey admin sorry for disturbing you while you are on your trip. I just wanted to say that there is no dates on the pics recently in the Sonic Unleashed Screenshots of your website.
I wish the developers of the sonic games payed more attention about the moon. Its true how after sonic adventure 2 they still made the moon intact. I’d like to see it in half in other games, it just makes more sense.
I honestly think this was a typo. I want sega to work hard on making a great game. I think multiplayer might make that harder to accomplish. Though I bet it be fun.
I just thought of something. what does happen when sonic gets the chaos emeralds? Will he turn into some kind of super weresonic? maybe during the last bossfight you’ll be able to switch between super sonic and super weresonic at will.(kind of like LOZ twilight princess)
@Spittingup: Sonic Unleashed is not connected to previous Sonic stories or timelines.

I think it’s just a typo in the magazine. We’ve heard so many times already from Sega themselves that there’s no multi-player.
it maybe a typo, but it could be that u cant play the main game as two player, but maybe a chao garrden. i really hope this game does good
SEGA could solve the moon problem in Unleashed. Imagine Super Sonic flies by the moon … AND HALF OF IT IS MADE OF CHEESE!!!

I’m guessing something like Secret Ring’s multiplayer section if it’s true.
If they manage to execute that correctly, it’s nothing to be ashamed of to put in the game.
Obviously a typo. UNLESS this was done after the article was written…but thats still slim due to Sega saying No Multiplayer hundreds of times before.

I think that a lot can happen in between now and the release date of Sonic Unleashed. Maybe a typo, maybe not, E3 should clarify all of this soon enough.
Depends on what kind of cheese the moon’s made out of, I’d only eat American or Swiss.
Well if there were a multiplayer mode then i hope that they won’t remove some visual effects like they did on Sonic adventure 2 and Sonic 2006.

@Sonicman: I’d assume that the conditions for a full moon on Sonic’s Earth are different from ours? Either that or the clouds were there for dramatic effect?
@Spittingup: The moon was full in Sonic Heroes and the Shadow the Hedgehog game which are part of the main storyline, so either they completely disregarded that or for some unexplained reason, the moon was fixed sometime after the events of Sonic Adventure 2.

their is a mini game mode i think.i know that sonic is the only playable character in the main game and i heard knuckles is playable so its problely a mini game mode like in SATSRs.
You’d be right about that, Nick. I heard that Knuckles appears, but not that he’s playable…interesting.
My personal theory is that that other part of “mostly” means…that after you complete one character’s minigame, you will unlock that character to be used in a “Free Play” mode… you know, like the Level Select modes that allow you to play through the levels without going through the storyline? While you can only truly play as one character (Sonic) in the storyline, you can use Sonic and any character you unlocked in the Free Play mode to go through levels.
…it’s just my theory, but it’s a freakin’ sweet idea. That way, those who don’t wanna have to play as Amy in an entire level in the storyline don’t have to, but those who do wanna play as Amy in an entire level have that choice available. :)

@Chopper05: If your referring to the multiplayer, if there is any, Usually 1-4 means Local play only. But maybe if it were a chao garden, you could meet online with four of your buddies. And i think it’s just a typo. We’ll find out soon

SEGA love to confuse and tease us don’t they? A Werehog teaser three days before E3, and now this! They’re really not helping…
Personally, I’d prefer racing against some one over Xbox Live instead of sharing a TV. This is where other fast characters like Shadow would be appreciated. Heck, Sonic and Shadow blasting across the levels in multiplayer…..that’d be cool!
@David Leggett: Hey admin, I know you’re not too keen with wikipedia and all, but I read there that Archie is going to make a comic book adaptation of Unleashed. Being an avid follower of the series, this was enough to make me happy and it has to do with Unleashed, so I now report this to you!

i cannot wait E3 is so close not only sonic unleashed but other games will be unleashed upon us!! (sorry, pun i couldn’t resist) i want them to mainly focus on the gameplay but guys maybe the mini games are multiplayer what if u get to race friends in bobsledding or take part in mini overworld co-op missions with friends i mean the mini games are a great opportunity to bring in multiplayer? personally i hope they add multiplayer in minigames cause that could be fun BUT after their fully done with the game maybe it could be an add-on or something?
