With all eyes diverted to coverage of E3, it’s pretty easy to miss the obvious. A quick look at SEGA’s homepage, and you’ll notice quite a few updates, including a comparison of Weresonic and Sonic from Sonic Unleashed.
My, what big teeth you have Weresonic…
They’re obviously prerendered (and possibly just artist renditions), but are cool to see none the less. You might also notice a few other pieces you either haven’t seen before, or havent seen under proper lighting before (such as the first Weresonic render we ever saw).
Some of the shots below really highlight some of the less obvious distinctions between our Classic hero and his new beastly alter-ego. Check out the studs on those boots!

Also, do you know if we’re getting anymore Sonic Unleashed footage from E3 or was that trailer the last of it? Personally, I think it’s hard to say from that footage whether if WereSonic will be good or not… I want a full level with a few parts skipped like Sonic’s High Europe gameplay.

@AnthonM2: Thinking about it and seeing that video… yeah, the game would probably be better just playing as Sonic. But oh well, that’s the way life goes… maybe it’ll turn out okay in the end.

Those claws are scary, the gameplay I watched of weresonic was good but I didnt see how fast it could go. Hope sega chucks in some good speed for the wolf

OMG, Something in my brain just clicked. The Were-Sonic gameplay… is like Ristar! The stretchy arms, the puzzle solving… and though this is speculation, in that one screenie of Were-Sonic where he’s holding onto the pole… is there a possibility for the Ristar-esque pole looping? Even if it isn’t, yays, it’s classic gameplay, just not in the Sonic sense.

Unfortunately, it stopped downloading at 63%, so I wasn’t able to get any “Warehog” game play… But I did get a close up of him right after he transformed.

I’m still not sure if I like WereSonic, even though it seems to work well enough. I would’ve preffered a Dark side story rather than WereSonic. Shadow is too cool to be left out (will buy the game anyway).

Heh…For some reason, Were-Sonic’s new shoes remind me of Bowser’s paws.
I really enjoy the way Were-Sonic looks. I think it’s absolutely the most perfect rendition of the idea they could have possibly created. However, I’m still not sure how I feel about his stretch-armstrong arms… They seem to be capable of some pretty interesting feats, to be sure, but somehow it just seems… awkward.
I would have rathered him been created with naturally longer/larger arms (though that would probably make him seem more gorilla-like than wolfish) than giving them the ability to stretch… but alas. The rest of him still looks incredible.

Are you all insane? How can you support this idea? Sonic has been completely bastardized and ruined, and that it comes down to something as cheap and goofy as “Weresonic” is soul crushing for anyone who grew up playing the original three sonic games.
Since then they’ve done nothing but introduce more and more goofy trivial characters, plots that have no business in sonic the hedgehog. Whatever happened to Robotnik (Yes, Robotnik, I don’t care about Japan, I refuse to call him eggman) turning animals into robots and sonic having to save the animals? It wasn’t deep, it wasn’t complex, but it didn’t matter.
If I could talk to the people at Sega, I would plead that they stop ruining Sonic.
