Some folks over at TSS have done the Sonic community a favor and ripped the track from the latest Sonic Unleashed E3 Trailer. Now you can take the track with you wherever you are (if that’s your kind of thing).

Something about this track really doesn’t settle well with me. The first few songs we’ve heard from Sonic Unleashed have been great, but this new step seems to be like we’re heading back in the direction we came from – the direction that actually makes some of us very angry.
You wouldn’t like us when we’re angry…
Thanks to Sheza and Goku from TSS! I’m sure plenty of people here will enjoy the music from what I’ve seen in the discussions.
Oh, and here are the lyrics as posted by Twilight over at TSS:
This is my escape.
I’m running through this world,
and I’m not looking back.‘cuz I know I can go,
where no one’s ever gone
and I’m not looking backBut how will I know when I get there?
And how will I know when to leave?
We’ve all gotta start from somewhere?
It’s like that for me!
the possibilities are never endingI see it. I see it. And now it’s |always in my dreams|
(endless possibilities)
I see it. I see it now. It’s always been inside of me
And now I feel so free.
(endless possibilities)you’re loosing speed!
You’re loosing your flow!
|Where is that| piece of power you’ll never know!
Just let it out, It’s inside you.
Better all stand back,
‘cuz I’m coming throughI see it. I see it. And now it’s |always in my dreams|
(endless possibilities)
I see it. I see it now. It’s always been inside of me
And now I feel so free.
(endless possibility)

That track makes me feel uneasy about the game D=
I mean the voice is ANNOYING.
Hey guys, I know a lot of you wanted a smaller version of the vid, so I’ve killed 2 birds with one stone and made an 18MB file and replaced the crappy song with a really coool song from The Wedding called Return. You can grab it here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=104FZFMG
Let me know what you think! I thought it fit pretty well…
This song make me feel happy. Gotta love that SONG!
I hope it’s more songs in the game that is awsome like this song.
@Osnic: I know what you mean
Well, I like the song… Sometimes, I think people (nobody in particular) should stop trying to find flaws in the game and just step back and enjoy this for what it is, even if you don’t agree with every detail. Again, I’m talking to no one in particular, just letting off a little sream.
*steam -_-’
the song looks great but the game is much greater
I actually have to say that I personally quite like this as a Sonic track. Rock songs with lyrics have been in use since Sonic Adventure and this seems to fit in better with the classic Sonic than any of the others. (I quite enjoy “Live and Learn” and “Open Your Heart” on their own)
Now I certainly hope they don’t go overboard with these sorts of themes like they did in SA2 and some of the other games, but I think that if there are songs in the game, it will be limited to an intro theme and an ending theme.
So its just my opinion, this music doesn’t really hurt the old-school music influence. On the other hand, I wouldn’t really enjoy this particular music on its own without the Sonic footage.
(|Where is that| piece of power you’ll never know!) …?
Hmm? I thought it was: When inside me is a power you’ll never know!
I like this song! It’s good to have an original rock track associated with a Sonic game, but it would be even better if they give us either an awesome original soundtrack (nb without vocals), or an awesome remix soundtrack of old songs for each stage.
I like the song, but I get the feeling from it that we will still be disappointed greatly, even though this is probably the greatest improvement over Sonic’s 3D franchise and that whatever’s wrong with the game (I’m not talking about lag or being completely offline) will scar EVERYONE for this game.
…Almost as if Chronicles will do better than Unleashed, though not sales-wise…
Sonic’s Wiki

I think this song is great! It just sounds like a song that would be in a Sonic game. I don’t think the singer’s voice is annoying, I think at some parts it can be really powerful.
His World, live and learn, open your heart, seven rings in hand, all great songs. i know crush 40 didnt do seven rings(the main one) but they are my favorite band!
maybe they are trying to make it more american friendly with this song. I dont know, but if you ask me, they don’t really need to.
we still like Sonic for its music
Its possible that this will be the theme song for Sonic while the main theme will be the one from the official trailer(the first trailer).
in that sense, it makes sense to me
sorry for the double post guys. just clearing my head
I seem to be under the same persuasion as the majority of the comments I’m reading. I don’t necessarily love the idea of sticking with the trend of vocal Sonic themes (and I’m even less enthused about the recent relience on big name bands to create them – despite my love of bands like Zebrahead), but I’m at least grateful that these songs have kept a very “Sonic” feel to them, and while they may not be the most incredible songs ever written, they’re catchy and fun. That much, at least, has been a staple for Sonic music (especially of the lyrical variety) ever since the days of Toot Toot Sonic Warrior XD.
In short: I’m not really super excited about the continued use of lyrical themes performed by trendy american punk bands, but at least the songs are fitting and fun
I have enjoyed the trailers that much more because of them. Here’s to hoping the game is as upbeat and good-feeling-inducing as its new theme!
@blu_7: If recent events are to be any sort of clue for us, I would imagine that this new song will probably be the overall game’s theme (though not necessarily the title/intro card music), much like His World or Open Your Heart. Fortunately, with the significant decrease in playable characters, Sega hasn’t been going as overboard in creating themes for everyone and their dog, so the recent trend seems to be using Sonic’s theme AS the game theme, rather than creating two separate songs, as was done in the two Adventure games/Sonic Heroes. If we’re lucky, we might get in-game instrumental versions rather than having the full song play at every available opportunity (similar to how the His World theme was handled in the last game).
Sadly, I think it’s safe to say that the song from the original trailer is more likely to be stage music (most likely from the very stage featured in the trailer) than the game’s official theme – despite it’s alleged similarities to the old-school game gear tune.
I wish there were a way to get a cleaner rip of the song from one of the HD trailers (they seem to have better sound quality than the youtube versions). I downloaded the one from TSS and it’s not nearly as clean as I would have liked. I find myself preferring to watch the trailers than the actual mp3. If anyone finds a better version, I’d like to get my hands on it!
@Hannah the Echidna:
That’s what I thought too! xD
I just listened to it like, 5 times (just that segment.) and it IS “But inside me’s a power you’ll never know!
Also, loosing….is spelled with one o
*takes off Grammar Nazi Hat*
As for this song, I really don’t care for it, but I don’t buy Sonic games for there 5-star soundtracks, afterall. I’m buying the game for the fast-paced action I grew up with and still love to this day.
I think it’s…catchy and fun. It captures what I expect from Sonic themes, it’s not much different from the SA2 version of “It doesn’t matter” or “Escape from the City”(not a Sonic theme…but…come on.It IS).
I don’t like this type of music generally, I’m rap/soul/fun guy. But I think it works for Sonic’s daytime segments. I assume the night segments will have a theme too.
^^ I really like this song. I think it really fits Sonic’s personality and speed.
Darn for a moment I thought they were truly going back to the catchy jingles of old and not the annoying lyrics of new.
@doc a doc: It seems as though they’re attempting to merge the two, just as they have done with the old and new styles of gameplay. Could possibly be a very beautiful fusion
@Hannah the Echidna: I agree with you that people should stop trying to find something to be concerned about. I am not going for anyone in particular and I have been wanting to say the same thing for quite some time. All the Sonic games had a special charm to them. Even the ‘06 Sonic game had some good points. I do get tired of people saying it isn’t like the old Sonic and therefore it’s junk. I only personally hope to see an underwater level again. Those disappeared with the 2D games and I miss them. I don’t hate the games for not having them though. Back on topic though, I personally think the song isn’t that bad. I don’t think it’s my favorite, but I don’t mind it a bit.
@DarkChaos: And I agree with your agreement!
There is an underwater style level in Sonic Advance 3 and an underwater level in Sonic Rush…it would be interesting, but those levels tend to be the bane of people.
On one hand, it’d be awesome to have a level in Atlantis…but on the other hand, who likes the smell of wet Werehog? XD
The song seems fitting for a Sonic game for some reason.
@Hype92: Well, it does describe Sonic and his attitude towards the world and his own freedom. “In his world, life’s an open book”, remember? He’ll go anywhere, he’ll do anything, and nobody is going to stop him, especially not a talking egg!
BY THE WAY, LIVE DEMO OF SONIC UNLEASHED AND SONIC CHRONICLES IS ON SOON.

THANKS BE TO GAMESPOT!
I actually like it. It’s fast paced. It metaphorical to the concept of the game. I could really get into using it to play. It’s very Sonic-y
I don’t see why everyone’s bitching about the song. I like it!! Sure, the voice is annoying as hell, but the feel of it reminds me of the vocal songs in Sonic Adventure 2, like City Escape.
I personally like it! It grew on me.
My opinion on the questionable lyrics:
I see it. I see it. And now it’s all within my reach!
Well inside me’s a power you’ll never know!
I’m pretty sure one part of these lyrics are wrong. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t say this:
I see it. I see it. And now it’s (((((always in my dreams)))))
(endless possibilities)
I see it. I see it now. It’s always been inside of me
And now I feel so free.
(endless possibilities)

whoops, didn’t see that comment above my last one. But helps prove that that’s what it says. heheh.
Dear God… I… CAN’T… STOP…. @_@;;
I’ve spent the last three hours straight listening to this on repeat. But why?? XD
@ChaoticFox: yeah i cant stop listening to this song at first i thought it didnt go but it has a very nice tune too it i think it sounds great as the main theme of the game. whoever doesnt like it guys just give it time and you’ll like it in no time actually it’ll get stuck in your head
Yeah, the instrumental rules, the lyrics are okay, but the voice.. ugh it’s just so annoying.
Sorry, I just can’t get over it D=
It’s just.. I hear that kind of voice in many songs and I was hoping a little better for the Sonic game that’s supposed to reinvent the series.
-remembers to not nag anymore-
I checked out the guy who sung it, and the last album he released was called “I’m ***” :p
Just out of curiosity, for all the people who claim not to like this guy’s voice (I’m assuming many of you also felt the same about Zebrahead), what kind of voice do you think OUGHT to be used – assuming you had to choose vocal over instrumental- to define our beloved Hedgehog?
Crush 40 is great, and I love them to death, but imo they never really had much of a “Sonic” feel to them. Their music is a little too heavy and aggressive for someone lighthearted and quick on his feet, y’know? 80s rock just isn’t very Sonic. I think light, upbeat, pop punk rock is exactly the way to go, and whether I like this guy’s voice on a musical level, I think it FITS extremely well.
So I open up this question to everyone: What type of singer/vocalist do YOU think would best represent Sonic? Perhaps something more like the girly diva vocals of Sonic R/Sonic CD ( love those)?
well I did like the song “Sonic Boom”
A song for Sonic needs to be up beat and the lyrics have to fit his personality and actions. This song will definitely fit Sonic’s theme. “This is my escape. I’m running through this world, and I’m not looking back. ‘cuz I know I can go, where no one’s ever gone and I’m not looking back”, that sounds a lot like Sonic. He never looks back when he’s escaping from danger and can make it to places others can’t go. Bowling For Soup has some great songs that I listen to a lot. I also listen to Crush 40’s music as well. There’s even more good songs that the team used for Sonic games. The only game that displeased me most was Sonic Heroes. The songs sounded bad in my opinion. I just hope they use more great songs from Crush 40 or from any other bands.
I don’t see what’s so bad about the song.
Aside from the fact that SEGA songs are getting pretty shorter, it’s an okay song.
Wait a minute…When you hear this verse:
“You’re losing speed, you’re losing your flow…”
…I think that actually refers to the lack of fast gameplay in the previous Sonic 3D games (from Shadow the Hedgehog to Sonic the Hedgehog 2006).
And also…
“Just let it out…It’s inside you…
Better all stand back ‘cuz I’m coming through!!”
…that verse is PERFECT for the werehog transformation scene! If Sonic lip-synched that verse while transforming, it would be even more badass and sinister…
@Mystery the Hedgehog:
I also noticed the hidden message in the song..
endless possibilities= hedgehog engine
Trough it is ironic that the song say ”now I feel so free” when sonic has just been grabbed by that hand..
@dragonite: “endless possibilities= hedgehog engine”
…Ah! You’re right! Sega must be putting a lot of meaning into “Endless Posibility!” When you listen to the lyrics, they relate to actual events!
@Hannah the Echidna: i think she’s right. people should stop looking for mistakes and look for the good things! and yes this song is alittle catchey.
oh yes and i liked the way they lined up everything so it looked cool and went along with the music like dragonite said. and i hope they put more themes then just sonic’s. that would suck..
well I dont see something bad in this song, in fact I think its one of the best Sonic themes and yes its definetly “I see it, I see it and now its all within my reach” and I also liked how they synched the “Just let it out, its inside of you, Better all stand back cuz I’m pulling through! (or coming through) ” with the werehog scene, but I also noticed what dragonite said he says “and now I feel so free” when hes trapped! lolz!
oh woops it was mystery the hedgehog… sorry
Has anyone else noticed that the whole sonic franchise has gone somewhat religous?
@david: Religious? I don’t want to offended you for your views, but;
What do you mean and how so?
@david: I think he means how Sonic & Elise kissed and how everyone (even Amy) thought it was ok
I think it’s DISGUSTING but other religions might say that’s kool with me
(U know, bestiality…………………)
and i’m NOT BEIN MEAN cuz ITS THE TRUTH lol
I think David means about Solaris, being Solilanas God they worship. Or the babylon rogues and how the gods punished for being theives.
@G&E: Don’t forget Chaos from Sonic Adventure! He was the god of destruction!
@Sonication: Oh yeah, how could I forget about him.
@G&E: Yea u sound more right lol
@KC Cross: Yeah, pretty much. It first started with Sonic 2006 and then Sonic and the Secret Rings (with Erazor Djinn chanting something during a cut scene). I just hope that they done mess up Sonic Unleashed, It looks really Cool!
Hedgehog and werehog must have the same personality after all it’s sonic rigth?
and anyway I bet Sonic “and now I feel so free” because his full potencial has been unleashed
get it unleashed hahahahaha
Why does it seem that SEGA is messing up Sonic? The whole original concept of Sonic has been ignored. What’s the big deal? All it is is Sonic chasing Eggman. There’s no need for all the other nonsense.
Hey does anybody know about Were-Sonic’s personality?
I think he’s crazy in the beginning then his friends try to stop him and he goes CRAZY and FIRES HIS LAZAH at em roflao
then Amy comes in and holds his hand and says PLEASE SONIC I LESS THAN 3 YOU hahahaha
(fake picture)
then he realizes who he is.
(IMO)
@KC Cross: You have to understand the underlying essence of the thing… Sonic had saved her life a bunch of times, taught her how not to feel worried, defended her time and time again, and in the end he suffered death from a shot in the back. She had been looking at him like a person, not an animal. Therefore she pitied him like a person, and in the end, she kissed him on the mouth because she felt for him.
People just like to up and call it beastiality not because he’s a hedgehog (which we know of as an animal) but because trying to understand something this deep isn’t a task that they have a lot of appreciation for.
Of course, all of this IMHO.
@david: I dont think the games are actually religious religious but just use related gods and stuff so you can familiarise with it (hope that makes sense). Sonic sure doesnt seem to care much about defeating gods to save the world. If anything he enjoys it. So do gamers, its awesome fun and makes everything you do really climatic
@Sonication: hope chaos comes back in full form one game. Is he dead? What happened to him? I never got SA.
@KC Cross: LOL I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry at that sentence. Were-sonic with a laser!?haha
@TailstheHedgehog: Yeah, you’re right. The thing is just that i’m a JW and, it just felt wierd.
I liked the “fake” theme song that someone uploaded on youtube more than this…..
D8
You guys SUCK! This is a good song. ; -;
</3~
amazing stuff thanx
