No word on what it may be used for, but Sonic Unleashed is now confirmed to have an online component to it. What could it be?

No sooner did those Sonic and the Black Knight videos hit the Internet, that people just had to rip the theme songs and offer them for download. Who are we to say no?

Well well, it seems that SEGA has given Sonic his own official Facebook! It’s got movies, screenshots, the works. Plus you can comment on Sonic’s page if you have an account of your own. Check it out!

They may have changed their minds, because it’s still in fairly early stages of development…
I just hope all this stuff will be available on the Wii… I don’t think it won’t be compatible, I think they just need to work on making it work… (Did that make any sense? XD)

The “online component” in this game may be leaderboards. One possible achievement may be… “ran through the level at atleast 200 MPH, and only smashed into 4 objects.” No innocents were harmed either.
It might be online multiplayer, though highly unlikely to happen. It’ll probably be for leader boards and downloadable content. Possibly a rumored chao garden?
Sonic games have always been the target of constant speed runs and competitions, so I’m almost positive that it will probably include a feature similar to Mario Kart Wii (not the race mode, mind you). I would guess that there will be a time attack mode with which you can post your top scores and possibly even create “ghosts” for other places to download and race.
Not to mention, with being released on the X360, it’ll probably have loads of “achievements” to accomplish.
I think there is gonna be some downloadable content or a minigame. I acutally don’t know.
It would be great if they added a Chao Garden! I missed those times.
they might make the online component about chao like in chronicles. Its just a hopefull guess… Thogh it is likley.
I know we’ve speculated about it here before, but has there actually been any confirmation on Chao of any kind? That would certainly make sense as an online component, but I haven’t seen any information that would lead me to believe Chao have a place in this game.

@ChaoticFox: If we don’t find out before Thursday, I’m sure the Camp Sonic contact at E3 will…on Thursday.
Anybody remember the Dreamcast online events that changed Station Square depending on the date…like Tremble Park for Halloween and Station Square with Christmas decorations and snow for Christmas and all decorated for a “Dreamcast Launch Party”? Even the “Millennium Rings” event, where all of the town and action stages had giant rings to collect to celebrate the new millenium. Heck, there was even events that had PRODUCT PLACEMENT. AT&T ads plastered all over Speed Highway and the ads for some…shoe company was in one stage, both games sponsoring in-game competitions.
…While I wouldn’t like product placement all over Sonic Unleashed, I would LOVE to have downloadable content that could reflect seasonal events in the game!
(And bug fixes! Don’t forget bug fixes! xD )

I would love to see a versus mode, I’d would even be happy with just leader boards with times, scores, etc… Downloadable content would be cool to but for some reason i doubt that’s going to happen.

seasonal changes in unleshed would be nice. but i stand by my opinian of having online chao races krate and maybe some new chao events!!!

I think it will be events, like someone said before. And some kind of rankings.

They could have an online chao garden where people can look at your chao and have chao races.
a seasonal chao garden would be awesome!
Wii could have Mii’s in chao garden, and Xbox could even have their avatars. Playstation gets nothing. Bwahahahaha!
I watched the Live video on Gamespot this morning and I’m hoping that he listen to the question about Remixed stages from previous Sonic games. Please do that and and make a Sega theme stages like ones from Sonic Riders and Zero Gravity SEGA for unlockable or as download content.
Please god, please grace this game with chao, and online chao karate and racing!

When Gamespot asked about multiplayer in the stage demo, the SEGA employee responded by mentioning the online component.
So i guess it’ll be multiplayer.
Also, remember that there are minigames, so maybe these are multiplayer.
sonic unleashed looks awesome i think the online is for an online ability with chao
my friend wants them in a lot who wants chao in sonic unleashed it would make the game last longer but the werehog would have a bad influence on chao
this may be way off and will probs be my wishful thinkin, but maybe the online content is something chao-world related, tht’d be cool, HD chao, how cute!
if u want chao in unleashed sign the petition google chao garden petition and it will be sent 2 sega with hundreds of signatures so sega will have 2 put chao in
@bobbo21: Not to rain on any parades, but why not simply let Sega know yourself? They haven’t said “No” to it, so I don’t see how a petition will help… and to be honest, I don’t see how a petition would make Sega HAVE to include them anyways.
I don’t know… if Sega stops what they are doing now to take time on Chao and stuff… then they rush the game because their time was divided.
I am concerned about that.
