Sonic the Werehog Suit

Big thanks to Das Gamer for sharing this.  During their sit-down with SEGA, one of the team members got into a Sonic the Werehog costume and posed for a few shots.

The next-gen graphics look good. Sega even threw in a proprietary engine they have been working on since 2005 optimized for rendering textures at high speed. But the overall feel of the game looked a little flat despite all the speed. As a 2-D sidescroller you could at least appreciate the full size of the levels as you navigated them. There didn’t seem to be any real evolution in the game that have kept Mario fresh through the decades. In the scenes that I saw the landscape shoots past at a pace that makes the key to gameplay seem more like muscle memory than reflexes. Hats off to the Sega associate producer who put on the furry suit for a few shots. It was hot as hell in that booth.

And hats off to you Das Gamer.  I know what I’ll dress up as to scare the neighborhood children come Halloween!

Note: a bigger photo can be found over at Das Gamer.  Also, we’ll likely have a nice glance at the gameplay ourselves later tonight, so be sure to check back with us later!

I want to get that costume, wait for every full moon, then terrorize the people of my town. or to prevent being arrested, just on Halloween. I really want it though, just to have it!

Also, when do we find out about Chao?????

    @wiinterfang:

In other words, the guy complained that Sonic “remains the same” and doesn’t “change” like Mario?

Meaning… Sonic Unleashed looks too “familiar” to other Sonic games?

@Nano: I’m pretty sure there are other characters in the cinematics, especially after that Weresonic and Amy cutscene thing a while back.

i was thinking this for a long time….
will it just have cinematics and gameplay with sonic and eggman or…
will it have their friends and rivals(shadow for example) on the game too?

If I had that suit I would run around in a neighborhood. No one would know who I was!

@daniel: Hmm, I kinda want to see some werehog images for the PS2 and Wii myself. I have a nagging suspicion that the werehog is going to not be very impressive in those versions. I mean the game systems do have nice graphics, but fur never displayed very nicely on the PS2 games I have. Of course compression technology is much better now and so maybe they can pull it off. I am personally going to pick up the PS3 version since I have a PS3, of course I have the Wii too, but I think the differences are not going to be good enough excuse to get two copies and I want to see this game in HD.

I also want that werehog costume. That is one of the best costumes I have ever seen a person wear as a not so human like creature. That is pretty darn impressive.

Maybe they did make a mistake. I hope they didn’t though. I want to see them push the Wii to it’s limits.

i think they are kinda right

he was just running straight forward in the gamespot preview sometimes jumping killing enemies without getting touched even once. once when he was standing still by that 1 rocket, but what the hell is that

from what ive seen now i think the werewolf gameplay is more appealing to me even though i was really negative

it gives me a jak and daxter feeling and that game kicked ***

@BanoX93: Yup, saw that, but I have a feeling they made a mistake. Sega’s been pretty clear that the Wii and PS2 will not be using the Hedgehog Engine.

@BanoX93: They haven’t said, but I’d imagine they are using the Xbox 360 / PS3 version because of it’s visuals. To be short, they are more impressive than the Wii or PS2’s visuals.

Does anybody know why SEGA is only showing off the 360 version of SU?

i really hate to admit it but i agree the weresonic looks alot more realistic that the sonic suits.now if only that mouth and eyes would move around and a loud roar would come out of this suit then it would be like the best weresonic suit.heck people could even belive that weresonic is really …and proof that sonic is really too….were can i buy 1?i need to prove my friends wrong
