E3 was really busy for those of us interested in Sonic Unleashed, which by a count of hands, I see is nearly everyone here. With all the action going on in our own community, you may have missed some interesting posts from around the greater Sonic Community. Here’s some of the links we found to be interesting over the past week!
- Summer of Sonic: Play Sonic Chronicles before it’s released! - It’s times like these that I really wish I could afford overseas airfare. Participate over at Summer of Sonic, and you could play Sonic Chronicles nearly 2 months before it’s release!
- What AAUK’s been up to - Speaking of Summer of Sonic, check out what AAUK has been up to recently!
- Sonic Chronicles Website Updated - And in regards to Sonic Chronicles, you may have not noticed that the official site has been updated. Find all 60 rings, and you’ll unlock 2 awesome wallpapers (a few of them are a bit tricky)
- Lots of new Sonic Chronicles Screenshots over at TSSZ - And we mean LOTS.
- Plus a Recap of the Playtest demonstrated at E3 - A pretty good read if you’re considering purchasing it later on.
- Where in the World is Jun Senoue - According to TSS, he may already be working on things for the next Sonic game!
- 2007 Sonic Movie Pitch Was in Fact Real - The Sonic Stadium has details. Sounds like an end to all the Sonic Move drama.
- Samba De Amigo to include Classic Sega Characters - Such as… you guessed it - Sonic.
- Riptens’ Sonic Unleashed Impressions - “I believe that Sonic Unleashed has the potential to be one of the best Sonic games in a very long time, stretchy Werehog arms and all. A few months ago Nintendo took Mario into outer space, and frankly I see this as SEGA’s attempt to experiment with the Sonic brand in a similar way.” - It’s a great read folks!
- Gamespot’s Sonic Unleashed Impressions - “When night falls, you’ll encounter a pretty different spin on the classic gameplay, but from what we were able to see in a demonstration today, fans of Sonic Adventure should be able to look forward to another capable platformer.“
- 1UP Sonic Unleashed Impressions - “Sonic Unleashed certainly looks to draw in several distinct gameplay elements, but unless the daytime segments dominate the experience, we may be looking at yet another uneven 3D Sonic experience.“.
- Kotaku’s Sonic Unleashed Impressions - “When we said we hated the stupid tacked on 3D gimmicky elements of the 3D Sonic games, we didn’t mean we hated them only 50% of the time. 50% of crap and marshmallows is still 50% crap.“.
- Kombo’s Sonic Unleashed Impressions - “The question that remains is this: Will Sonic Team put together a polished game that reinvigorates the brand, or will they yet again let Sega shove an unfinished product out the door to make that November release date?“.
- SEGA E3 Mass Breakdown - A great rundown of what SEGA had to show off this year at E3.
- Triple E3 Roundup - Sonic City Blognik picks up where the SEGA Europe blog leaves off with a roundup of what Sega had to show at E3.
- The Great SEGA Move - Sega of America has moved! Check out their new office!
- Official Sonic World Adventure Site Launches - For the unaware, Sonic World Adventure is the Japanese title for Sonic Unleashed. Their new site is awesome!

@Aubrey: The city of tenessee?
@Aubrey: Short answer, Yes.
im new here but a total sonic fan dudes
OH!!! in japan, sonic unleashed is called: Sonic World Adventure, But, here in Tennesssee, it’s called: Sonic Unleashed. In sonic unleashed, will we exspore the city?
Those review impressions I read got me pretty pissed off at what there saying about Sonic Unleashed. They say the daytime levels are awesome but not alot of detail and than they say the werehog levels are stupid. There saying 50% of the game is classic and the other 50% is BS. The game not even out yet and there already saying **** about the game. I say forget does jacka$$’s and let’s just see what we think of the game. Once the game comes out and they hear the game was the best 3D Sonic game ever, there going to feel like a bunch a jacka$$’s.
I still find it suspicious. Yeah, magazines do get exclusives. But there is usually some buzz, some sort of rumor. I wouldn’t know about Wolfenstein, shooters mean nothing to me. But speaking of Sega, they are not good with hiding anything. Maybe I’m wrong and magazines do get stories before the internet, but it seems unlikely with printing times. I’m never really surprised anymore when I read them, anyway. Plus, it makes no business sense. Three Sonic games in development at once? It’s not very logical.
I wouldn’t mind if it was true really, as a sequal to S&TSR it would be a seperate development team with a seperate series. It’s worked before with other game series, why not Sonic? Sonic Unleashed is the “real” game, but Secret Rings is a fan favorite of many. Including journalists, oddly.
But I refuse to believe this until it’s PROVEN with multiple scans or actual official information. The cover is irrelevent to me, it just makes no logical sense to announce this at this time in this way. But it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been wrong. Either way, I have seen A LOT of cover fakes that looked great…
It’d be better if it ere rocket knight. revive him sega! pleeeeez
Oh god…
to sum it up:
Pros:
- like some here said, you don’t photoshop a whole magazine cover just for a hoax. Too much work.
- the character render looks quite real (to me at least), the pose, the glove and the sword acutally fit quite good together (artistically I mean). The way he’s laid out on the page isn’t that great, but magazines do that sometimes.
Cons:
- The work might be worth it, seeing the reaction of the fanbase right now. Hell, there’s even already a wikipedia of it!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_and_the_Black_Knight
- And why didn’t that guy just OPEN the damn magazine and take pictures of THE ARTICLE ITSELF?
…oh well, time for bed (it’s 1:43 am here xD). I might warm up to this title once… might… a little bit…
¡¡¡Sonic and the dark knight!!!!!!!
http://www.sonicstadium.org/files/posts/2008/07/wtf1.jpg
a sonic with a sword…sounds interesting…not as interesting as a were-wolf sonic though
I’m hoping the mag is a fake though…just cuz…well…why would sonic need a sword anyways??
@sonicfan: “S&tBK must be the spiritual sequel to Secret Rings with the whole concept of Sonic exploring a popular fairytale book world. In Secret Rings it was Arabian Knights. This one must be the whole “King Arthur and the Round Table” bit. You know, the Holy Grail, Camelot, Excalibur, that stuff.”
It may be cliche, but I actually like the sound of that.
I got this comment from EdwardoMario16 at the GameFAQS board. He also made up a good point:
“Now that I’m over the shock, It’s time to discuss the game.

So is this a possible sequel to Sonic and the Secret Rings? ^^
David Legget ,have you ever thought that SEGA might actually be using the Hedgehog engine for Wii and PS2? Like, SEGA said there will be no online or multiplayer modes of any kind, right? Maybe SEGA is doing the same thing but with the Hedgehog engine. What do you think about my opinion?
U go to bed at 7:00? or figure of speech? where i am its 6:04!
@sonicfan:
We first found out about WereSonic directly from SEGA, not some magazine scan that no one seems to know anything about.
But yeah, I guess I should calm down and see what this game actually has to offer should it turn out to be real.
@enzo_gt: I agree, I agree, way too many spin offs. XD
I didn’t particularly like the first Sonic Riders, but the second was a much improved game, even if the concept didn’t make any sense.
SEGA does listen, but they know that they can’t please everybody. All they can do is try and make a good game…in the time limit that they allot themselves. >___<;; I wish they’d give themselves more time.
Well, I have to be off as well. I always thought that a Call of Duty game set with an original modern storyline would be great. Nice to know that it worked. <33
Good night, peeps, try not to get an ulcer from all of this new information.
Woo hoo! first quadruple comment so far!
erm.. how did you make a smiley? i didn’t know u could do that…
But when tons of people are negetive about sonic games (except for those 2 gemes that make your heart bleed piss) they end up good!
The thing the sword is sticking into looks like classic sonic’s spin jump…oh no…cruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuud!
