E3 was really busy for those of us interested in Sonic Unleashed, which by a count of hands, I see is nearly everyone here.  With all the action going on in our own community, you may have missed some interesting posts from around the greater Sonic Community.  Here’s some of the links we found to be interesting over the past week!

  1. Summer of Sonic: Play Sonic Chronicles before it’s released! - It’s times like these that I really wish I could afford overseas airfare.  Participate over at Summer of Sonic, and you could play Sonic Chronicles nearly 2 months before it’s release!
  2. What AAUK’s been up to - Speaking of Summer of Sonic, check out what AAUK has been up to recently!
  3. Sonic Chronicles Website Updated - And in regards to Sonic Chronicles, you may have not noticed that the official site has been updated.  Find all 60 rings, and you’ll unlock 2 awesome wallpapers (a few of them are a bit tricky)
  4. Lots of new Sonic Chronicles Screenshots over at TSSZ - And we mean LOTS.
  5. Plus a Recap of the Playtest demonstrated at E3 - A pretty good read if you’re considering purchasing it later on.
  6. Where in the World is Jun Senoue - According to TSS, he may already be working on things for the next Sonic game!
  7. 2007 Sonic Movie Pitch Was in Fact Real - The Sonic Stadium has details.  Sounds like an end to all the Sonic Move drama.
  8. Samba De Amigo to include Classic Sega Characters - Such as… you guessed it - Sonic.
  9. Riptens’ Sonic Unleashed Impressions - “I believe that Sonic Unleashed has the potential to be one of the best Sonic games in a very long time, stretchy Werehog arms and all. A few months ago Nintendo took Mario into outer space, and frankly I see this as SEGA’s attempt to experiment with the Sonic brand in a similar way.” - It’s a great read folks!
  10. Gamespot’s Sonic Unleashed Impressions - “When night falls, you’ll encounter a pretty different spin on the classic gameplay, but from what we were able to see in a demonstration today, fans of Sonic Adventure should be able to look forward to another capable platformer.
  11. 1UP Sonic Unleashed Impressions - “Sonic Unleashed certainly looks to draw in several distinct gameplay elements, but unless the daytime segments dominate the experience, we may be looking at yet another uneven 3D Sonic experience.“.
  12. Kotaku’s Sonic Unleashed Impressions - “When we said we hated the stupid tacked on 3D gimmicky elements of the 3D Sonic games, we didn’t mean we hated them only 50% of the time. 50% of crap and marshmallows is still 50% crap.“.
  13. Kombo’s Sonic Unleashed Impressions - “The question that remains is this: Will Sonic Team put together a polished game that reinvigorates the brand, or will they yet again let Sega shove an unfinished product out the door to make that November release date?“.
  14. SEGA E3 Mass Breakdown - A great rundown of what SEGA had to show off this year at E3.
  15. Triple E3 Roundup - Sonic City Blognik picks up where the SEGA Europe blog leaves off with a roundup of what Sega had to show at E3.
  16. The Great SEGA Move - Sega of America has moved!  Check out their new office!
  17. Official Sonic World Adventure Site Launches - For the unaware, Sonic World Adventure is the Japanese title for Sonic Unleashed.  Their new site is awesome!
  18. This Week in WTF (1UP) - Scroll down a bit for a hilarious read (for the not so easily offended I should add).
  19. Blue Blur Central’s Sonic All Star Awards - Blue Blur Central is hosting the Sonic All Star Awards for the best Sonic sites out there.  Nominate your favorite sites, and be prepared to vote soon!

Did we miss anything?  Let us know in the discussion if you saw something we haven’t already posted!

“The change up between night time “exploration mode” and day time “speed mode” did not bother me one bit. In fact, the “Werehog” version of Sonic seemed pretty bad ***. I am keeping an open mind and will definitely be interested in getting my hands on Sonic Unleashed when it hits stores in November 2008.”

Took the words right out of my mouth. :) I’m still a bit worried about what the werehog will do to Sonic’s personality, but like he said, I’ll keep an open mind too. The game seems to be a great and fun experience.

I’m also worried to what the presence of the side-characters will do to the story. I’m the kind of fan that prefers Sonic alone, or with Tails by his side.

Before you can go back to the basics you must be aware that sonic has never had two seperate eyes. The only differene to them that has ever been made is that they were made to have green color around his pupils for Sonic Adventure.

it was always one eye with two pupils. it makes him friendly to younger gamers. teddy-bear like yet tough as nails. i guess

@Sonicman: His nose never seperated his eyes. Are you new to Sonic?

The quote Nintendo Power said with it weird Sonic cover sounds weird.

“The Blue Blur swings cold steel in his big new Wii-exclusive adventure”

Note:Have you guys notice that on the pic it showed Sonic with one big eye with two pupils. Now the nose dosen’t separate the eyes.

WHATEVER HAPPEN TO “GOING BACK TO THE BASICS”

wow I just don’t want to use the computer for just one day and this comes up.

Maybe the black knight is Shadow
    lol

    Gun + Shadow = Gangsta
Sword + Sonic = Noble Knight

That’s just the image swords give.

I doubt they rushed it. For all we know the game could’ve been in development since Unleashed as the sequal to Secret Rings, and Unleashed for Wii is just being made by Dimps to rake in extra money. (It is the most popular system after all and most Sega fans are Nintendo fans. Don’t want kids to be left out.)

How are we so sure it’s an Action/Adventure game anyways? What if it’s an Rpg? Would that make everybody feel better?

You know…kinda turn-based like the Mario Rpgs. Probably link up between The Dark Brotherhood using wifi. You know you’re lovin’ that idea. Hell, maybe this version will even include the Chao Garden. Think about that.

So don’t be so negative. This is only the….2nd?….Sonic game that Sonic Team has been working on. The other two are being made by 2 different companies altogether.

Btw, It’s Nintendo Powers 20th Anniversery and Sonic is on the front cover. I couldn’t help but laugh at that. XD

for a skilled graphic artist it would be pretty easy to put something like that together i mean just scale down a knights glove with a sword and slam it on the sonic picture im sure eventually there will be an identicle picture without the sword OR sega made that to cause an uproar to get everyones mind of SU and SC db OR its real
take your pick, im not sure.

    @ShadoHejjihoggu:

The first Werehog pics came directly from SEGA, not some magazine scan that no one seems to know anything about.

Rather than start some pointless arguement, just wait a few days until we actually receive word on the validity of the scan. That’s all it takes.

@Final Rush: If you were a professional.

But of course everyone though Weresonic was fake.

My last note…If anyone has this issue, they’ll pretty tell you it’s the same thing in the back page.

    Dude, don’t push me, seriously…

What I’d like to know is if this guy who scanned the Sept. issue isn’t pulling a pfast one, then why didn’t he actually open the magazine and scan the article? Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Oh, wow. Like that’s IMPOSSIBLE to photoshop, right?

@ShadoHejjihoggu: I did notice the number, but that says nothing. The number may be accurate but that does not clarify anything and not to be rude to you, but I am not going to start who’s right and who’s wrong argument. We all have our opinions and I personally hope it is a true game, but I won’t be upset if it isn’t. If it is a fake though, whoever made it is probably having a good laugh about the uproar this is causing.
