Sonic World Adventure: Official Site, New Screenshots

Earlier in July, GamesTM spoke with SEGA and revealed that the Japanese name for Sonic Unleashed would actually be called Sonic World Adventure.  It would essentailly be the same game – except Japanese – just with a different title, and some different branding.

The Japanese site for Sonic World Adventure just went live, and some resourceful readers here at Camp Sonic were quick to notify us (Actually, I wrote this in advance, but by the time it’s posting, I know have about 10 emails, and plenty of comments letting me know, so way to be on top of things folks!  Also, appreciate the help grabbing the screenshots!).  Besides looking a lot prettier than the English version of the site, the Sonic World Adventure site also features quite a few new screenshots that we haven’t seen before.

Other than that, it’s got some screenshots and videos that we’ve seen before… oh, and its videos all work… as opposed to the American site which seems to have some errors currently.

And here are the new screenshots (Updated with some more Hi Resolution shots thanks to Zio over at SSMB):

    I found the last four ^_^ have you seen my comment on the last update, David Legget?

  2. Umiyuri July 19, 2008

    I’m in love with that last shot. That’s just gorgeous. Even with cheesy-looking 2D flowers, that’s lovely. I’m assuming Holland?

  3. hmm
    i think ‘Sonic World Adventure’ is better than ‘Sonic Unleashed’

  4. whoo nice stuff! and i suppose it’s not bad to know that japan gets love from sega japan.

  5. dragonite July 19, 2008

    @Umiyuri:

    we haven’t got that many hills,it is still greece or high europe.
    It reminds me of super mario sunshines first real level:biancio hills(which was based on holland,and the only non fully tropical based level)

  6. Umiyuri July 19, 2008

    Doesn’t stop it being nice, y’know. Making a wallpaper out of it right now!

  7. i think that on japanese site they have more information

  8. dragonite July 19, 2008

    @Nano:

    not really,there was’t that much japanese text.
    But it will get fleshed out closer to release I think..

  9. Still no proper quality Wii screenshots, this worries me! x__x

  10. @Maddok:
    I’m with you. I hope they’ll show us some soon.

  11. dragonite July 19, 2008

    @Pirpuu:
    I am more intrested in gameplay,seeing as it lacks hedgehog engine.

  12. On the 7th screenshot. Either those are really bright lights or Were-Sonic can also be playable in daylight. I’m confused

  13. dragonite July 19, 2008

    @Hype92:
    seems to be the lights,some spots are dark.

  14. Aregulardude July 19, 2008

    Also there, you can find the E3 trailer as well (along with the other two game play trailers as well), and the quality of the frame rate is a lot more higher in most cases, though it takes a lot more time to load and such…

  15. dragonite July 19, 2008

    @Aregulardude:
    the best thing about it is the full screen feature.
    It is hd then.

  16. OH SNAP. They have wall running. That’s it, SEGA, you bought me.
    I’d prefer if they kept the game’s name as Sonic World Adventure, that way people would consider it on par with (or better than) the other Adventure titles. And it sounds better, because thanks to Rule 34 (if you don’t know what that is, then for your own sake, DON’T find out) the title “Sonic Unleashed” can have more than one meaning…

  17. dragonite July 19, 2008

    @Kex:
    care to explain that rule?:P

  18. @BanoX93: ? If you think you have any I missed, or someone hasn’t sent me yet, feel free to send’em along ;)

  19. GIVE CREDIT TO THE ORIGINAL UPLOADER!

    Don’t flank his rip with your stupid watermark! Zio from the SSMB forums was the ORIGINAL finder of the last few screenshots.

    GIVE HIM CREDIT! I don’t like how this site slaps their watermark everywhere.

  20. CyberTheHedgehog July 19, 2008

    wow pictures look great. *looks closely at one* HOLY **** WALL RUNNING!!! im getting this game n matter what now (wait i have made that claim when i saw were-hog footage… and before that). WOAH picture 7 has bright lights i would expect normal sonic in those lights.

  21. @Sheza: Camp Sonic always gives credit where it is due Sheza. I’d rather not argue about this, but I’d appreciate it if you don’t make rash accusations that clearly aren’t deserved. BanoX93 sent us some of the screenshots sometime yesterday morning, while I manually grabbed the rest from the gallery.

    On another note, out gallery uses an automated watermark system. We do not put the watermarks on anything here because we created it (obviously, but because other websites constantly hotlink to images from our gallery, and all the bandwidth taken from us isn’t cheap.

  22. how come the American version isn’t like the japanese version

  23. I prefer the title Sonic Unleashed because its shorter and pretty much sounds better. However, that logo is really cool and, in my opinion, better than the one we have for Sonic Unleashed.

    Umiyuri, terrific wallpaper.

  24. sonic world adventure unleashed sounds more exiciting

  25. I LIKE IT. SONIC UNLEASHED WAS COOL BUT WORLD ADVENTURE BETTER!!!!!

  26. @unleashe the beast: Just making sure you’re aware that it still is aware for most versions of the game. Only the Japanese version is being called “Sonic World Adventure” ;)

  27. I’m not talking about the images that YOU ripped.

    The last four images were taken by Zio, and not Bano. I have some more, 1600×900 images like that, if you want them, you must edit your post with credits to Zio.

  28. And on another note,

    How the hell do you set up wordpress to highlight the editors comments?

  29. @Sheza: With all respect Sheza – it is possible for more than one person to capture screenshots from the public Japanese Website. And also, you DID attack Camp Sonic, and not the original poster (Who I have no reason to believe deserves the blame for this). If we are missing anything, you of course are welcome to share with us – we always credit and thank contributors here, which you probably know if you’re a frequent reader.

    @Sheza (again): I have an alternate comment style that is activated when some special user criteria is met (ie: for me).

  30. Gryphon July 19, 2008

    Apparently it is possible for me to get even more excited just from watching the same video, so long as there is a higher frame rate because then I get to see more stuff (like the split nanosecond before Sonic gets yanked back down the corridor), w00t! :D

    And the last few screenshots of the sunset in Holland/Greece/wherever… beautiful, but at the same time, foreboding, seeing Sonic there among all those white flowers, and knowing what’s going to happen to him once the sun sinks below the horizon…

  31. dragonite July 19, 2008

    @Sheza:
    he ripped the same time himself without knowing of zino.
    He found it alone,and he alerted this site,not zino.
    Besides,does it even matter that much?
    It is not ripped art of something like that..

  32. sonic3master July 19, 2008

    great shots. but I would like to see some wii screenshots and game footage

  33. dragonite July 19, 2008

    @Gryphon:
    yeah,silence for the storm.
    I wonder how time is going to be handled,seeing the sunset.
    Will it be story based,will it based on a ingame clock.etc.
    Not on the real time,because of the whole wherehog thing.
    And I heard of ways to move the time forward somewhere on this site recently..

  34. The four last pictures is beautifull.
    I think Sonic World Adventure Sounds better that Unleashed but Unleashed sounds cool.

  35. Just a heads up folks, we’ve updated the screenshots with some more Hi-Resolution ones posted by Zio.

    Also, that conflict was a misunderstanding, so no more worries on that front.

  36. DarkChaos July 19, 2008

    @dragonite: I believe it is going to be both. From what I understand, there will be times when you are locked into being the werehog and then there is going to be times when time goes pass at a internal time rate that can be somehow controlled to an extent. Sort of like in many current Zelda titles that allow you to play a tune to change day into night and vice versa, except I don’t think Sonic is going to play a tune to change the time. Sonic playing an instrument. O.o Weird picture.

  37. @DarkChaos: lol He played guitar in Sonic Underground xD
    That show was wierd.

  38. Gryphon July 19, 2008

    @dragonite: I’m willing to guess that the “zones” (Africa, Mykonos, China, etc.) are split up into at least four “acts”, in the cycle of Day, Day/Night transition, Night, and Night/Day transition, with the cycle repeating for as long as you want to play the zone. Wait, I’m confusing myself. Day and Night would be immune to the passage of time and would also have no time limit for act completion, whereas the transitional stages only allow you to go on until the clock-driven sun rises or sets, at which point you’re pushed into the next act in the cycle (and the game saves, so that you can pause, go to the menu/map, and return to the previous act if you want).

  39. I wish that Sega didn’t change the lettering for the “Sonic Unleashed” logo. I personnally liked the original logo for two reasons:

    It was very plain, simple and truly signified a reboot of the series

    The style of the plain lettering gave it an epic feel which I like the most

    Am I the only one who thinks this?..

  40. @blu_7: oh, and heres the site in case you have no idea what I mean by the original lettering http://www2.sega.com/gamesite/sonicunleashed/us/index.php

  41. C’mon Vegas. I know you’re commin’~

  42. iNAUDiBLE July 19, 2008

    I find it strange that while the US game websites for the Sonic Adventure titles, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic ‘06 could hold up to the Japanese counterparts…and the Sonic Chronicles site was so good…that the US site for Sonic Unleashed is lamer than this. Is it because SEGA of America is using the same template for all their game sites now or are they…planning something bigger?

    Either way, these are great shots~

    @Andrew: People have been asking that question since Sonic 1. And we still don’t know. :P

    @Kex: I KNOW. WALL RUNNING.

    …Yeah, I agree with ya on the wall running thing. One of the first things that I thought was “Either this is a new Sonic game or Sonic has pulled a “Pete Wentz n00d Sidekick pictures” stunt…”

    …GOOD THING IT WAS THE GAME, EH? Last thing I’d wanna do is relive the latter…ick.

    @blu_7: The reason why the logo is was plain and simple was because it ISN’T the logo and was never INTENDED to be the logo. That was made all the way back when they didn’t even have a logo for the game, so they just put up plain text as a cop out! XD

  43. dragonite July 19, 2008

    @Gryphon:

    wait.. this is getting a bit complicated…
    O,well I just wait for news from sega.

  44. @Umiyuri: That’s pretty cool.

  45. @Umiyuri: whoa! that’s really good screenshot reminds me of Sonic Adventure type advertisement its so calm and relaxing…. : ) that’s so cool and the Logo in the corner is a nice touch that’d be a pretty cool poster

  46. PrincessTikal July 19, 2008

    really amazing screenshots; it really gives you a good idea of how the words are going to look like ^_^

  47. sweet pictures. they look amazing :) @Umiyuri: the logo in the corner is awsome and the picture looks so peaceful, nice poster

  48. it seems that rouge will not make an appearance on the game
