I’m not real big on ‘rules’. For me at least, they never seem to always work, and quite often there are exceptions that can make things real complicated (take the US Tax Code for example).
Alas, some rules are needed, and it’s about that time we set some boundaries for the discussions here at Camp Sonic. We’ll keep it short and sweet, but at the same time, try to carve out some easy ways to promote valuable discussion here at the Camp.
So, without taking any more of your time:
Comment Deleted / Not Showing?
- Don’t tell us what post you are. If you’re first, we’ll know. Promise. Otherwise, if you write “First!111!!!one!” and end up being 12th, you just look like a fool, and end up taking up room with two comments (the second being your recovery comment letting us know that you were not first… which again, we already knew).
- Be intelligent. No, you don’t need to be a college graduate to post here — heck, even an elementary student can get by… but we do ask that you do your best to sound intelligent when you speak. We are looking for valuable discussion here, which is difficult to come by when we cant reed wut ur sayin. k?
- Be respectful. You don’t need to always agree with others to be respectful, we just ask that you stray away from personal attacks. Also, respect the fact that we are a blog with viewers from both sexes of all ages. I won’t lecture you on a potty mouth here, but if you’re going to be crude, please do it elsewhere.
- Wait!!!?!?! I followed all of those rules, but my comment still isn’t showing! What’s going on? To help reduce spam on Camp Sonic, we’ve taken measures that prevent some comments from being shown without being approved first by a moderator. Some things that will trigger a comment being held for moderation include having 2+ links in a comment, or posting a naughty word in a comment.

- Be malicious!
- Spam!
- Steal something from us (under which case we’ll file a DMCA complaint if need be)!

Rules are always a good thing, and tend to keep the discussions nice and under control (unless a very emotional Silver fan were to show up….then I’d head for the hills) and the rules here are pretty easy to follow, because they’re more like common-sense than actual guide-lines to posting.

Also, out of interest, seeing as there most likely won’t be anymore Unleashed info for a while, what do you think the odds are of covering Dark Knight too? I know you mentioned it before, I was just curious to see if you’d had anymore thoughts on it.

@Zink120: Well, Dark Knight is due for a spring 2009 release. I’d say that we are much more likely to cover chronicles before that title… And we may not cover that either. Our plans for the future are not 100% set in stone, but there is definitely talk about widening the scope of our Blog to more of Sonic’s world, as well as more of the gaming world in general.

It’s no prank, it’s an actual Screenshot from Sonic Unleashed, and there are Chao INgame…whether or not they’ll be in the Chao Garden or just mere decorations, is uncertain still.

Hey David, what kind of writing are you interested in having for this site outside of Unleashed news? I love to write, but I never bothered offering assistance since searching for news isn’t my forte. That’s why I visit your site. But I could very well be interested in helping…this site is very positive and open-minded for a Sonic site. Or a gaming site in general. If it’s up my alley, I’ll send some sample writing.

@David Leggett: Yeah, I’d expect things to be plenty heated. When you’ve spent all your time building up your site that became one of the greatest resources for Sonic information AND news, only to make it into a blog, with, you know, OPINIONS, of course people are going to get mad. I mean, Camp Sonic is in a blog format, and you’ve put your two cents in at times, but most of the time, the heat comes from the COMMENTS, not the post itself…well, that’s more because Camp Sonic is a “news” blog and now The Sonic Stadium is a blog blog. Ugh.
All I know is, they made their judgement despite not having the actual ARTICLE to go on. If they actually had the article and made their judgement based on the information, I’d understand, but this sounds like the typical hatin’ from people who hear the concept first, think it isn’t classic Sonic and make their judgement based on their OPINION. I admit, Sonic with a sword is NOT the best idea, but if Sonic can handle a FENCING match with Mario at the Olympic Games, I’m sure he can handle a little hack-and-slash some dragons. But I’m not going to stick with that opinion until I gets me sum Nintendo Power.
I respect Svend, and everybody deserves their own opinion, but making it without anything to back it up besides “Sonic and a sword…seriously?” just makes it fall flat. I’d prefer to hear his opinion about it when the FACTS get involved.

Also, you know the Ripten article? The Xbox 360 version allows you to import your OWN CUSTOM SOUNDTRACK. The other allows you to mute the in-game music.

@iNAUDiBLE: I wouldn’t call us a “news” blog. We do cover everything we can in regards to Sonic Unleashed, but we publish some other stuff as well, and will continue to publish new tidbits that aren’t exactly news in the future. I simply enjoy the Blog format of things — makes it easier to syndicate, works great for communities, and makes writing a lot more enjoyable.
Putting that aside, I’d actually go as far as to defend Svend & Co. over at TSS. What I read did not seem out of line, and I couldn’t agree more with a lot of things I saw over there. Actually, it’s probably a safe bet that if I were to cover the Black Knight here, you’d see a lot worse.
Does that make me a bad person? Of course not – because there is nothing wrong if I dislike a concept, or think it’s a step in the wrong direction.
Could SEGA make it work? Sure, but it’s not the same Sonic I grew up with, and to me, that’s important. In my eyes, it’s a Sonic for a new generation. It will probably do fine in terms of sales, and will probably even gain quite a following with a specific audience (which I am not a part of).

I don’t know about coloration for those Chao, but the explanation for the blurriness was because it was from one of the Wii Scans posted in the NP Article.
I was looking more into the shape, I even paused the movie when they zoomed, went back to the full image without Zoom, and they still look like Chao to me. But, they could be a Number of things. So for right now, I guess it’s just rumors and speculation on whether the chao will even make an apperance. If nothing else, we at least have the Chao is the Dark Brotherhood to look forward too =D

how come nobody welcomed me when i first posted on the chao importance thing? if you look at the wii scans you can actually imagine what sonic will look like in the wii version, i think he looks very good in fact you guys remember those old 360 pictures in africa, im starting to think those were actually wii pictures cause they dont look as good as the new 360 pics, i think the wii could handle those graphics and more, have you guys seen the no more heroes for wii screens, they look like 360 graphics to me so ya, and the 360 pictures are not the best graphics for that console i mean seriously if they made a secret rings for 360 and released screens of it people would be fighting over wether the wii could handle those graphics, just cause a game is for 360 doesnt mean the wii version of said game cant compete with those graphics i hope you understand what i mean…the wii version could have “all the polygons and stuff” from the 360 version sheesh. If anybody played Sonic Rush/Rush Adventure and seen the cutscenes, the graphics are the same as the Sonic Unleashed Wii scans
IMO not good 1st of all i liked Rush Adventure WAY better and 2nd of all not alot of CG action in the DS games
So looking at SU for the Wii, you can expect unique graphics but (lets face it) nowhere NEAR CLOSE to XBOX 360 GRAPHICS

Seriously, just draw some Extremely detailed sprites, slap em in colorful enviorments, and call it a day. The game would sell millions, I’d be willing to put my life on it.
But as far as the graphics issue is, I hope everyone realizes WHY Wii Graphics are as impressive. It’s the system itself, not the developers. It’s kinda common-sense, but the Wii just doesn’t have as strong as a Graphic Engine as the 360 and PS3, which is WHY it is so much cheaper. That and the fact that you don’t play movies on a friggin Wii xD

Today I made notes on the Sonic Unleashed e3 trailer that you might have not noticed. I hope you like them.
The info I wrote is between 1:55 to 2:11, when the screen splits up to 4 screens and shows different gameplay/cutscene on every one.
Top Left box
2:05 Sonic fighting the china boss (He pounds the ground to attack and you have to run while attacking)
2:10 Sonic flies off from a ramp
Top Right
1:58 I think it shows Sonic the Werehog running in the china level (or it could be the Greece level)
2:00 Sonic the Werehog spinning his arms around
2:03 Sonic maybe fighting the Greece boss. The boss shoots lasers and missles while you are running)
2:05 Sonic the Werehog being sucked into the Earth.
2:10 Sonic is being thrown and fireworks are shown.
Bottom Left
1:57 Sonic the Werehog is swinging on poles
2:00 Sonic is chasing the Africa boss. The Africa boss seems to have electric ropes to guard him. Also Sonic does the homing attack on the boss.
2:08 Sonic the Werehog is being falling into the Earth (It looks like he has a lighter blue fur on his spikes).
Bottom Right
1:57 Sonic sliding through the grass
2:00 Sonic doing quick step (I think).
Note: Also at 2:12 right before Sonic turns supersonic you can see a colorful light in the middle of the screen which could indicate that the colorful light is the Chaos emeralds.
Oh yeah Sonic does the homing attack twice at 0:48 (you’ll have to see it to understand).
Oh and in regard to the rules, I know you said something already about not having an edit feature, but why?
like i said earlier just because the graphics on the 360 are good doesnt mean that they wont tone them down (i mean come on its nt like the 360 version has the most you can squeeze out of it graphics wise) the wii cant handle ANYTHING but it CAN handle those graphics, so to sum it up if the graphics on 360 suddenly became original DK level then people would be screaming that the wii couldnt handle them. get it? the 360 doesnt set how high the quality can be on another console. but people seem to think that im repeating myself to get through your thick skulls that the wii CAN handle those graphics end of conversation.

I don’t remember Sonic doing the spin dash in the trailer. Sonic didn’t do the spindash in Sonic and the secret rings. Did he do it in Mario and Sonic Olympics and Sonic Riders Zero Gravity?
THe last time I remember Sonic doing Spin dash was in Sonic 06 but it wasnt fast at all.

@Sonicman: No, Sonic Did not do the Spindash is Mario and Sonic in the Olympic Games, I don’t know about Sonic Riders Zero Gravity, but I doubt it.

If Sonic didn’t do spindash in Sonic and the Secret rings, Mario and Sonic Olympics and Sonic Riders Zero Gravity. We might not have that in Sonic Unleashed. I hope they don’t replace it with more grinding cause I think there overusing it.
