Camp Sonic Discussion Guidelines Updated
I’m not real big on ‘rules’. For me at least, they never seem to always work, and quite often there are exceptions that can make things real complicated (take the US Tax Code for example).
Alas, some rules are needed, and it’s about that time we set some boundaries for the discussions here at Camp Sonic. We’ll keep it short and sweet, but at the same time, try to carve out some easy ways to promote valuable discussion here at the Camp.
So, without taking any more of your time:
Comment Deleted / Not Showing?
- Don’t tell us what post you are. If you’re first, we’ll know. Promise. Otherwise, if you write “First!111!!!one!” and end up being 12th, you just look like a fool, and end up taking up room with two comments (the second being your recovery comment letting us know that you were not first… which again, we already knew).
- Be intelligent. No, you don’t need to be a college graduate to post here — heck, even an elementary student can get by… but we do ask that you do your best to sound intelligent when you speak. We are looking for valuable discussion here, which is difficult to come by when we cant reed wut ur sayin. k?
- Be respectful. You don’t need to always agree with others to be respectful, we just ask that you stray away from personal attacks. Also, respect the fact that we are a blog with viewers from both sexes of all ages. I won’t lecture you on a potty mouth here, but if you’re going to be crude, please do it elsewhere.
- Wait!!!?!?! I followed all of those rules, but my comment still isn’t showing! What’s going on? To help reduce spam on Camp Sonic, we’ve taken measures that prevent some comments from being shown without being approved first by a moderator. Some things that will trigger a comment being held for moderation include having 2+ links in a comment, or posting a naughty word in a comment.
How to get Insta-Banned
- Be malicious!
- Spam!
- Steal something from us (under which case we’ll file a DMCA complaint if need be)!
It’s real simple folks, and I don’t think we’ll have too much of a problem with any of the rules (we hardly do at this point anyways). If you’ve got questions, or concerns, let us know. If you think you’re interested in a moderation position, check out our Jobs page.

Don’t worry about it. I’ll follow the rules. Yay! FIRS-
@Admin:
Nice Job! Keeping order helps move stuff along, and allow for more intelligent discussions.
Im glad you care about the people here.
I hope their is a chao garden in su please people at camp sonic keep your eyes and ears open for chao news!!!!
I sent an application for a Moderating position, just to let you know. ;)
How dare you make rules, you…Nazi!
Haha j/p…I have moderated at websites before, and actually recieve those kinds of comments. Frankly, the internet scares me. Good luck,
Rules are always a good thing, and tend to keep the discussions nice and under control (unless a very emotional Silver fan were to show up….then I’d head for the hills) and the rules here are pretty easy to follow, because they’re more like common-sense than actual guide-lines to posting.
Never-the-less, good job keeping everything clean and safe for the campers! =D
Ah… Thanks for posting this.
All those ‘first’s were really starting to get on my nerves!
Also, out of interest, seeing as there most likely won’t be anymore Unleashed info for a while, what do you think the odds are of covering Dark Knight too? I know you mentioned it before, I was just curious to see if you’d had anymore thoughts on it.
Many thanks! :-)
@Zink120: Well, Dark Knight is due for a spring 2009 release. I’d say that we are much more likely to cover chronicles before that title… And we may not cover that either. Our plans for the future are not 100% set in stone, but there is definitely talk about widening the scope of our Blog to more of Sonic’s world, as well as more of the gaming world in general.
@David Leggett : Aw still no contest results :( I was hoping after E3 they’d be announced. I guess we’ll just have to wait. Oh yeah, and is Camp Sonic gonna stick around after Unleashed comes out and continue to update with info on other sonic games?
are you sure that the link limit is a good idea?
Some people may want to use 2 or more links for a good reason…
Perhaps 4 fits?
anyway, that post makes me feel uneasy by nature, but I follow those guidelines already naturally.
Besides, most people here know me already.:P
and I am off for holiday, this is my last comment for a while.
bye.
i like the rules, but im 11 so malacious? i hope i spelled that right… btw im an a+ student at school not so much of a grammar freak on the internet though so ya…happy camping! =D
hey there is another sonic game comeing out for the wii, its sonic and the black knight.
bye dragonite have a good time… uh i sound like his mother AND im a guy, what the hecks with that??? but bye anyway!
@sonicgate we know
ill be here all day popping in after i get 3 gold ranks on satsr which will be easy on sand oasis and errazor djin boss ill tell yalls later lolol
Be intelligent?….Damn….well, see ya’ guys later. It was fun while it lasted. XD
It’d be great to see this site expand as a Sonic website for all sonic games. Websites like TSS just don’t do it for me, something about TSS I don’t like.
What prompted this post? Did I miss some insta-bannage?
@Weresonic: Chao are in Sonic Unleashed
excellent rules :) I personally agree with the whole “first comment” thing, though I think I might have done that once…or twice XD
those are really good rules i totally agree with you.
but does C.R .A .P count as a naughty word?
Haha, im gonna miss people going “YAY, FIRST COMMENT!” When they clearly arent. I’m also gonna miss thier awesome recoverys, some are funny. @David Leggett: Did you get my e-mail?
i will follow your rules
@Jasmine Betts: Um, ya, because the ‘Sonic Unleashed Secrets’ link says it will be.
@396Productions: Where did you pull this information from?? I’m asking cause i wanna read it. haha
@Jasmine Betts: And i’ve been waiting for the contest results, i cant get a hold of David long enough to ask him. He must be really busy.
I’ll do my best to always act under the rules.
@David Leggett:
Oh, I see. I kinda thought that we’re so far into Chronicles now that it would be very difficult to cover it here because there’s so much info already.
I find that Camp Sonic has a really nice feel to it, and a good community, so I think it’d be cool to carry on with something after Unleashed is out!
p.s. Thanks for the quick reply! :-)
hey everybody, do you guys know when there will be a demo release for wii and when? whats funny is that all my comments from the past 2 days i posted from my favorite console………………….my nintendo Wii!!!!! yay. pretty cool huh?
oops *if there will be a demo release not when =P
i guess you guys are bored huh? so… black knight is for real from what david said right?
Nice, easy to follow rules. I would love to help you out here, but I don’t believe I am good enough to be a moderator. I don’t have much experience with that stuff.
@David Leggett: It would be awesome if this site widen its field. I look at TSS sometimes and their information is nice but their jokes mixed in with them leave things to be desired. I would enjoy getting my information here much more.
it seems quite well.
guesss for now on this site will have more protection.
well…..i guess
@Zink120: We definitely won’t stop at Unleashed, but that’s what we’ve got our eyes set on at this point. If we cover anything about Chronicles, it would most likely consists of tips, tricks, guides, etc after the game is released.
@WiiFP: Working on it. I will say that emailing me (while appreciated) won’t speed up the process ;)
@RockerDuDe: No, it’s a preset filter.
@enzo_gt: Nothing prompted this other than we don’t have any guidelines set right now. I figure it’s best to cover all our bases so we don’t run into problems down the road. The campers have been a great bunch so far :) A community I think a lot of us are proud of.
@DarkChaos: Svend’s a really great writer :) I’ve really enjoyed reading some of his recent entries (although things seem pretty heated over there right now).
I try to add stuff every now and then that isn’t entirely in the scope of “Sonic Unleashed”, and we’re figuring out what other topics our viewers would appreciate (and at the same time, we’ll have fun writing about).
@David Leggett: Ooo. My bad. Wow, i shoulda thought of that.
Yay, now we can laugh at Weresonic in peace…..
@WiiFP:
Well, I dunno where HE pulled his info, but a quick trip to Google earned me this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqVfEEBBEHg&feature=related
It’s no prank, it’s an actual Screenshot from Sonic Unleashed, and there are Chao INgame…whether or not they’ll be in the Chao Garden or just mere decorations, is uncertain still.
@Lyon the Groundhog: Um, i think they might just be tumbling rocks. Cause i think chao are blue most of the time (unless modified). But, i hope its real. That’d be awesome.
Are those really Chao though? The picture is sort of fuzzy, so it’s hard to tell.
Hey David, what kind of writing are you interested in having for this site outside of Unleashed news? I love to write, but I never bothered offering assistance since searching for news isn’t my forte. That’s why I visit your site. But I could very well be interested in helping…this site is very positive and open-minded for a Sonic site. Or a gaming site in general. If it’s up my alley, I’ll send some sample writing.
Don’t think those are chao.
@Crazee: If and when we decide to broaden our horizons, I’ll make it known. We usually require some sort of blogging or writing experience before considering any new writers.
@David Leggett: Ya, what do they look like to you? They look like tumbling rocks to me. But if they were rocks they would probably be the same color as the rock sonic runs on . . .
@David Leggett: I agree. He is a great writer. His jokes are just not funny to me is all. I don’t mind them, but they are just not my kind of humor.
It is always important to make sure you have fun writing it. I hope you continue to have fun doing this since it can be rather hard at times. Like E3 was.
@Lyon the Groundhog: Yay Chao! I hope they can be put into a Chao Garden or at lease a place to raise them. I like the Sonic adventure games since it was always fun trying to get a fanged smiling Chao. ^_^
Ah, great, rules, I was wondering where those guys were. :)
@David Leggett: Yeah, I’d expect things to be plenty heated. When you’ve spent all your time building up your site that became one of the greatest resources for Sonic information AND news, only to make it into a blog, with, you know, OPINIONS, of course people are going to get mad. I mean, Camp Sonic is in a blog format, and you’ve put your two cents in at times, but most of the time, the heat comes from the COMMENTS, not the post itself…well, that’s more because Camp Sonic is a “news” blog and now The Sonic Stadium is a blog blog. Ugh.
All I know is, they made their judgement despite not having the actual ARTICLE to go on. If they actually had the article and made their judgement based on the information, I’d understand, but this sounds like the typical hatin’ from people who hear the concept first, think it isn’t classic Sonic and make their judgement based on their OPINION. I admit, Sonic with a sword is NOT the best idea, but if Sonic can handle a FENCING match with Mario at the Olympic Games, I’m sure he can handle a little hack-and-slash some dragons. But I’m not going to stick with that opinion until I gets me sum Nintendo Power. :P
I respect Svend, and everybody deserves their own opinion, but making it without anything to back it up besides “Sonic and a sword…seriously?” just makes it fall flat. I’d prefer to hear his opinion about it when the FACTS get involved.
I’d love to see this site evolve into a greater Sonic resource, for the fans that are able to carry on a conversation without degrading them into YOU’RE WRONG, I’M RIGHT, SONIC TEAM SHOULD SHOOT THEMSELVES IN HEAD. FOREVER. D:< …but for now, what we got, it’s all good, brah.
Also, you know the Ripten article? The Xbox 360 version allows you to import your OWN CUSTOM SOUNDTRACK. The other allows you to mute the in-game music.
…hm, out for the day. Sonic fandom is full of fail sometimes, you know? Makes me feel sick. This site never fails to disappoint though. :)
Thanks, I’ve had about enough of the selfish commenters, and the ones thate tok liyk thiz. Also, mention that they should type like their age should talk. Please, all you excellent sonic fans, be mature.(I’m not saying I am, by the way).
@iNAUDiBLE:, how do you make smileys?
@iNAUDiBLE: Exactly how long do you plan on these comments? That has to be one of the biggest ones yet from you. Wow, you hold nice subjects though, i must say.
wow! thank you so much for posting this!….. i actually lol’d at the intellegent convo part because its extrmeley true..some plp need to grow up on this site
excellent list, il follow them! The casual attitude at camp sonic is fantastic and I hope it keeps.
@iNAUDiBLE: I wouldn’t call us a “news” blog. We do cover everything we can in regards to Sonic Unleashed, but we publish some other stuff as well, and will continue to publish new tidbits that aren’t exactly news in the future. I simply enjoy the Blog format of things — makes it easier to syndicate, works great for communities, and makes writing a lot more enjoyable.
Putting that aside, I’d actually go as far as to defend Svend & Co. over at TSS. What I read did not seem out of line, and I couldn’t agree more with a lot of things I saw over there. Actually, it’s probably a safe bet that if I were to cover the Black Knight here, you’d see a lot worse.
Does that make me a bad person? Of course not – because there is nothing wrong if I dislike a concept, or think it’s a step in the wrong direction.
Could SEGA make it work? Sure, but it’s not the same Sonic I grew up with, and to me, that’s important. In my eyes, it’s a Sonic for a new generation. It will probably do fine in terms of sales, and will probably even gain quite a following with a specific audience (which I am not a part of).
@Darkspines: We won’t ever make someone reveal personal details such as name, email, age, etc unless they choose to.
