Stumbled across this gem earlier today. Over at Amazon, if you preorder the Official Prima Strategy Guide for Sonic Unleashed, you’ll get a $6.40 discount (32% off the $20ish price I’m seeing elsewhere). If you were thinking about getting it, this is probably your best bet at scoring one on the cheap side. I really doubt you’ll see it cheaper than $13.59 anywhere else (but if you do fine a cheaper one, please share!)
Being a long-time shopper on Amazon, I know how their discounts tend to work. The great thing about using Amazon, is that if there is another price drop, or large discount, they will REFUND you for whatever difference there is in the amount. If they raise the price later on, you still get the cheapest price from the moment YOU buy it.
Also, as an extra plus, if you buy from the link above, you’ll be helping Camp Sonic by giving us a small cut of whatever you pay for it. In short, that means we might have some extra cash to blow on prizes in the future if you go through our shameless referral link up top!
Can’t beat that!

Wow, I would like that alot.
Yuck. I hate the junk Prima passes off as a strategy guide. Trust me people, not worth it.
@Final Rush:
Just to give you an example, they often leave sizeable portions of the game that lie outside of the main game untouched. Instead, they’ll come up with stuff like “???” as an excuse to leave content out. Either that or they’ll ignore it completely.
Of course, that’s just my take on their work. If this seems like a good offer to any of you by all means go for it. I just don’t see the point in paying nearly $14 for a second-rate strategy guide when you’ll be able to look at strategy guides online for free at sites like GameFAQS.
Sorry about that mini-rant. I’m just upset about how Prima time and time again releases disappointing strategy guides that don’t even thoroughly cover a game.
Awsome, I might just do that.
I usually don’t get guides sadly, I tend to go threw the game with no help guaranteed.
Then again, a good collectors item.
Much like ShadHejjihoggu I can usually manage without. But i’ll look into it neway. Thanks 4 the heads up! You never know. Australias official xbox 360 guide should be coming up with sonic unleashed soon. Hopefully it will be soon and I’ll send some scans David.
Somehow, i’l figure it out
@TailstheHedgehog: Hey, I think if I remember Prima guides give out a usual poster. Forgot about that actually…
WHO NEEDS STRATEGY GUIDES?
I PLAN ON EXPLORING EVERY INCH OF SONIC UNLEASHED UNTIL MY EYES BLEED!
I’m sure Prima has quality strategy in their Strategy Guides, but
I’m cheap. “Save $13.59, and play a little more.” That’s my motto. Ha.
OMg

My question is:
Why wasn’t “Sonic and the Black Knight” even BROUGHT UP at E3?
It probably was. I didn’t watch E3 except the 2 Sonic GAMES! HAHA
Can anyone help me out?
@KC Cross: Probably because its barely in production. Its probably all plotlines and characters and gameplay tests and little 3D grey figures running around on shabby cutscenes. Its been confirmed ( i think) but I dont think its quite off the ground yet.
Neone else got an idea. I dont know much about it. Maybe it was announced and me and KC just didnt see it.
i never imagined sonic having a sword
@ShadoHejjihoggu: Yeah, I collect the Sonic game guides.
The thing is that when I buy a strategy guide, I look at the end and I know what happens…..so I would rather experience the game myself and if I have a problem, I go to the internet, if I don’t find something, I stop playing the game for about 4 months and play it again and eventually find it.
That always happens
Do you know what would be worse than sonic with a sword?
Sonic with a talking sword…
@UmbreonTheDark: That’s how I do it!
@Spittingup: That’s funny
You buy it and you look at the back and everyone dies
“CURSE YOU, DR. EGGMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” HAHA
strategy guide already wow the games not even finished sega is my favoorite game company but they have lost the magic touch
@Ben: You wanna know what would be WORSE WORSE?
Sonic defeating the Black Knight, then running off into the sunset, and accidentally running into a moat (still in Medieval times) and almost drowns and wakes up in ROMAN TIMES HAHAHA
(Reference to the Martin Lawrence Movie “Black Knight”.)
@bobbo21: I think the game is actually COMPLETED, just not released.
Prima and other strategy guide companies wanna jump on popular games, you know?
WOW.
Has anybody noticed that on the Japanese Sonic Unleashed Site, the E3 trailer looks
WAYYYYY BETTER?????????
Japanese holdin’ out on us. haha
i don’t use guides on sonic games. i use youtube and ign only if i’m really in a tight corner.
It looks like the guide is only for the Wii version, does anyone know if it covers all versions or just the Wii? Might be a stupid question, but I plan on getting this game for the 360.
I don’t usually use strategy guides for help, I just like to own them and they usually come with a nice poster. I pretty much used my Sonic Adventure 2 Battle one for tips on how to raise chao and for its huge poster.
Well, i personally dont think Sonic Unleashed requires a strategy guide. Unless your aiming to unlock every singe thing, and find every single hidden pathway. But that would add more time into. I’ll think about it . . .
@UmbreonTheDark:
yeah same here
omg….. i think buying a strategy guide is a waste of money its way better to beat the game by yourself in the only sonic game i needed a strategy guide was in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the question mark stuff xD but i usally go to IGN and use walkthroughs on really tricky games like Legend of Zelda
Hehe yeah. I just find it myself so hard to resist going to the back of the guide XD
And the four month thing always happens, especially when I get stuck. I still haven’t played twilght princess in forever because I need to find something and I don’t know where it is.
Oh what ever happened to the fan art submissions?
I’d rather use gamefaqs for advice, but I have bought strategy guides for collection purposes before.
I always have a tendancy to get stuck in the easiest situations lol, but the levels are easy. Like when I couldn’t locate the stones in SA…
A stragety guide is sold already!? But the game should still be in development!
Its not being sold until the game comes out, I think they just have it up to show that they have it to sell (?) and isn’t probably complete yet.
thats not completely true…..
in Mario Galaxy the strategy guide was sold before the game came out
@RockerDuDe: Oh, ok. Thanks, I didn’t know that, I just assumed it would be when the game releases because you know…..it just wouldn’t be right….
hhaaaayyyy guys ive been having trouble sleeping from insomnia anyway i can help with tp since i know where EVERYTHING is even giant wallet and quiver!! and that if you beat a mini temple in guerudo mesa completely that you get fairys tears at all the light spirit springs cool right
the wii guide will have pictures from wii unleashed you dolts thats why we should by it duh!!
@Xeternalstar: I have experienced insomnia too. It’s the most horrible thing ever to be brought upon this earth. I dont understand why your so cheery and happy though. And good thinking about the screens. Maybe we all can chip in like, a buck, give it to Dave, and he can go buy it.
It says at Amazon that the guide will be released on November 18.
And Sonic Unleashed is slated for November so the game could come out before the guide.
@Jerbba: It’s probably a tentative date. Until SEGA is ready to state when the game will be ready, I’d take all dates with a grain of salt.
@Jerbba: I hope it does, because then people will be driven to not use the guide, and simply play the game.
@David Leggett: Well my suggestion doesnt matter anymore. But would you be willing to do that, if we had the chance?
@Final Rush: It’s a shame that Prima has gotten THAT low, I remember reading the CRUD of their Pokemon Red/Blue guide back when I was a kid and they had EVERYTHING~
I’ll probably just use GameFAQs if I get stuck, but hey, if anybody is planning to get the guide, good on ya. Be sure to scan the poster if they give anything to ya.
@Ben: Not that I want to make Sonic and the Black Knight sound worse than people seem to already think it is. Sonic’s sword does apparently talk as his mentor. The game play images I have seen and what I read about it so far sound really nice. It sounds like Sonic slices and runs and can do some really fancy quick sword play, it also sounds like you can kill innocent people too, but you get exp. knocked out of you if do kill someone innocent or something like that.
Anyways, back on topic, does anyone know for sure which console this guide is for? Or is it one guide does all since they should be identical games with the exception of how you control the character. I usually don’t get the guides, but I may get it to help Camp Sonic out. I have picked up strategy guides on occasion and just never look at them until I have beaten the game.
I don’t think Sonic with a sword is a bad idea, the same way I do not think E-102 using a gun was a bad idea, and I do not think Shadow using a gun was a bad idea.
However, if that game is RUSHED…. and incomplete… people will blame the sword on the game’s failure… just like Shadow. Well, atleast Shadow was better than Tails’ Adventure/Sky Patrol… I couldn’t even pass the first level of those games.
Also, the strategy guide is most likely for the Xbox 360 version… unless the Wii version is more identical than we thought.
Or, it could be for both versions. They’ll say; “if you are using an Xbox, jump over that balloon. If you are using Wii, jump under the balloon.”
@points out: Yeah, your right on that. The Shadow game was okay, but it did have a few problems, but I can find problems in every game, even Zelda games. Every single game I have played has had at least a camera glitch in some place of the game. I haven’t played Tails adventure yet, but I do have the game. I don’t have Tails Sky Patrol.
Thanks for the help trying to answer my question. I am getting the game for the PS3 since I never picked up a 360 since most of their games are not in my field of interest, That’s why I want to make sure the guide works for the PS3 version.
@wiifp im cheery and stuff cause i dont have to deal with the lack of brain power of all the kids at kingswest school (i rarely ever get bad grades yet i always get a’s in things i suck at like social studies. my grades astonish all (including mwa(dont care bout spelling)) who look upon them. 0_o girls are pretty but if you arent married there is more you can do in a videogame then with then. hmmm if im a preteen arent i to young to say those things… not on the internet
then dave could give everyone cash prizes!
@Xeternalstar: That’s alot of comments lol
We all appreciate what “David” (NOT DAVE) is doing, but COME ON
it’s not that serious
He’s kind enough to take the time out of his VERY BUSY schedule to have giveaways and you want his FREAKIN’ ADDRESS?
We’re all excited for Sonic Unleashed, but w/ all due respect
CALM THE HECK DOWN
Were-Sonic: “Yeah, man. It’s like you got a beast in you right now.”
KC: “ftw?” haha
Nov 18th HURRY UP.
A stragety guide for the game? Sounds complex
the game is not even released…and yet they made a stratgedy guide???
Lol. cool=P
