Seems like a good time to gauge our readers on Sonic Unleashed once again, with E3 being behind us, and some Werehog footage being unveiled. Simply tell us if you’re more excited, more worried, or completely apathetic now that we know a bit more about Unleashed. Feel free to explain in the comments below.

Well, my beef with reviewers generally is they have absolutely no perspective. They rate all games as if all gamers are the same mass audience…that is to say, all games are sold to the same people. Which is , frankly, nowhere near true. I frankly thought Sonic Heroes was a very good platformer. Let’s be honest, platformers are nearly dead. It’s good for it’s genre and is pretty popular and got decent reviews. But if you’re not a fan of platformers or Sonic titles…you might not like it.
I think most gaming media have made the assumption that fans will buy anything, so they have to review for the regular gamer that’s on the fence. But unfortunately, even fans are now looking at ratings and making decisions. Shadow the Hedgehog can be a 6/10 game for most people, but it’s an enjoyable action/platformer for me. People need to make up their own minds, reviews should not spit opionated rants. That tells you nothing about the game. It just tells you the reviewer hates it. Tell me what ruins the game for you, so that I can tell if that even matters to me.
The Tokyo Game Show may have a playable demo of Sonic Unleashed.
This site is like on big happy family. Rock on Camp Sonic
Wow. I made a smiley without trying . . . and i didn’t mean to sound like a jerk. Although i did. Sorry.
@Darkspines: Wow!
Concrats!!!
@Sonic The Hedgehog: Wow, interesting. Yeah, I’d suppose those who know a bit more about the industry tend to be a bit more knowledgable…I mean, ArchAngelUK, for instance…
@dog@bird.net: But why continue to buy spoiled bread when you know perfectly well it ain’t fresh?
I sure do hope that this game is fresh and has that nice yeasty smell~<33
But then again, we’ll just wait to wait and see.
@SonicFanr.1:
Why do I need to finish a game to know that I dislike it? Please, explain. Do you need to be electricuted for with only 50 bolts to realize that 1,000 bolts is too much?
Many reviewers point the game out as “unplayable,” and did not need to complete the game to realize this. My cousin didn’t complete Sonic Heroes, yet he claims he disliked it.
Sonicfanr, since you are so bold as to claim that I cannot dislike a game before completing it, why don’t you try Tenchu for the DS… or one of those 1-hit die NES games. I wonder if you will only judge your opinion of the game until you beat it. Also, try Barbie Horse Adventure… and do not claim you hate it until the final level.
@Sonic The Hedgehog: dog@bird.net does have a point he has to pay for the game so he at least deserves that it is completed at least and have very few problems but then again in truth cant we all say some reviewers hate sonic in general and look ONLY for the mistakes… like oh say Kotaku website….. they just completely hated on the werehog gameplay
@dog@bird.net: If you’ve refused to finish the game, you might’ve missed some of the few good parts there is too it… so as long as you haven’t finished it, you have no right to say that it sucks ***… i’ve finished it, and yes… it’s not a especially ´good´ game… I think all the reviews of the game are fair and accurate… but i also think there is some good parts… I for example liked the final boss battle (except for the fact that silver was useless).
@Sonic The Hedgehog: Yes, you’re right, but to be honest, sonic the hedgehog has too many problems to deserve a 7.0… and thanking all of the people who worked on the game in a review won’t happen, reviewers don’t do that… they know what effort they put into games and don’t feel the need to actually thank them… anyway… enough about sonic 06… that’s the past, Sonic Unleashed is the future! woot !

thats cool, i agree Sonic 06 did not shine, im lookin at Unleashed to erase some of the bad past games.@<a href=”#comment-
@Sonic The Hedgehog:
Still, you do realize that most people do not care about how “difficult” game development is. I mean… if I buy spoiled bread… I do not care how “difficult” it is to ship it… as far as I’m concerned, it costed me money.
The same with Sonic 06… and I have a few friends that refused to complete the game (as well as myself), and some utterly dislike Sonic at the moment.
@iNAUDiBLE:
yea i am to fair, but Im a 3D animator, i know how hard it is to make everything and even harder make it work.
im done, no more back and forth, GO SONIC UNLEASHED!
@Sonic The Hedgehog: Bah, you’d never make it as a reviewer, you’re too…fair and balanced. XD
Still, I will admit, if more time was taken with the game, we could’ve had something~
But that’s in the past. I can only hope that all the time that is needed is given for Sonic Unleashed. It looks to be in very good shape this far in development, so who knows what could happen~
@Sonic The Hedgehog:
Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the FEW GAMES that can still sell incredibly well despite horrible reception.
Think of it, Sonic 06 got a a billion 4.6 ratings. The average game with that kind of negative reception would of sold incredibly poorly. Yet Sonic continues to recieve sales. So many games get better reviews… yet they do not sell as well as Sonic. Infact… Ninja Gaiden Sigma… and Psychonauts were well recieved… but I do not think they have topped Sonic’s sales.
While Sonic have gotten negative reviews, the game has incredible sales… Sonic far from being thrown aside. I am certain that “Sonic the Hedgehog: spit out chewing gum” would be a best seller.
@Darkspines: i replied to myself!
whoa…a lot of comments since yesterday…
@Sonic The Hedgehog:
But Mario is doing fine. And Metal Gear Solid… well wasn’t that “Metal Gear” on the NES?
@iNAUDiBLE:
bingo! The legends paved the way for video games today.

@dog@bird.net:
Sonic 06 doesnt deserve a to. 7 yea, it poor control and it was rushed. Thats all. I credit the effort of SEGA and Sonic Team for the effort. I dont point out mistakes, they know the mistakes, but they needed to do what their boss wanted, make a game within a time frame, and if the head of SEGA said ship it as is, thats the mistake of leader of SEGA.
If i were to review a game, i would credit the staff involved and rate it on my experience with it. I wouldnt dramatize like, “A train wreck from start to finish” “a complete loss of control”, come on, everyone knows if Sonic didnt fly into the wall while just walking, there was control. Poor in certain areas, but still control, you could play it. So praise where the game shined, and no negative remarks on where the game lacked, just caution or awareness that the game in certain areas lacked a few things.
Thats my review. Praise, point out weak points, and thank the team for hard work.
