Poll Results: Chao in Sonic Unleashed
Earlier this month, we asked you all how important of an element Chao are in Sonic Unleashed. Out of all the questions I see in the comments… heck, even my inbox… Chao always seem to come out on top. What did all the campers have to say about them though?
Based on over 700 votes, 44% of the campers decided that while Chao are fun, they can certainly live without ‘em. That’s nearly 50% of the Camp Sonic viewers who suggest that they really aren’t necessary to make Sonic Unleashed a killer game.
Quickly following the dominant vote was Chao are “Very Important” at 29%, followed by “Won’t consider buying the game without them” at a surprising 16%. Will that many of you honestly not consider Sonic Unleashed without Chao? There is after all another game to get your Chao fix from this year (Sonic Chronicles for the Nintendo DS).
On a final note, before my Inbox fills up with the obligatory “Will there be Chao in Sonic Unleashed????” emails, I want to take a moment to reiterate that we will not have that answer until SEGA is ready to answer that question.

I’m still hoping to see a revamped Chao garden in Sonic Unleashed, but a part of me doubts Sega would include it. Many people getting Sonic Unleashed are looking for speed and action, not taking the time to take care of Chaos even though its optional.
I dont really think chao are that important to sonic unleashed. Their super cute but probably to light for a sonic game that seems to have a hint of a dark theme.
They just arent needed. Maybe they could cameo as a humans pet or something.
@TailstheHedgehog: That’s how I would imagine them to be included as well. Unleashed looks like a return to form in my opinion, and I don’t really think SEGA needs to spend much time developing a brand new system for them.
I mentioned this in the other topic, but I’d love to see a Chao Garden Wii Channel (game-independant, so more Sonic games can tap into it, like Black Knights and Chronicles through DS connection).
It won’t make or break the game in my opinnion, but it would be nice if the Wii version includes a solution like this.
II would like to have a chao garden but i’ll still buy the game no matter what. and i agree with jorenmartijn there should be a chaogarden wii channel. In other words crazy bunny man like chao

if they do have a chao gardan in sonic unleashed they have to have multi player in sonic unleshed. because all the other sonic games have multi player in chao garden.
There aren’t nessecary, but they are what defined the Adventure games, They would definately make it feel more like the Adventure series. It would work out well too, Pet a Chao with Sonic to make it Hero, pet it with the Werehog to make it Dark. A simple, but effective, concept.

Actually, I second the idea for a Chao garden on Wii’s internet setup. A downloadable game might work.
Maybe the Wii could have a WiiWare game like Pokemon thats Chaos
They aren’t that necessary in my book. I never played a game with a Chao Garden but I was never to fond of raising things in video games. They can be in it, but I wouldn’t care is they aren’t. :?/
Chaos are the cutest things in the whole Sonic franchise! If Sega really wants to add big time replay abillity, they need to include them somehow! Maybe they wander around in the city and you can feed or play with em if you want to, or even give them names! Just Dreamin! :3
But knowing Sega they won´t include them, Sega failed so badly in the last games, and chaos were just cameos in these, so why should they include them!? Conceptual they should have included them in Sonic 2k6, because it was so similar to Sonic Adventure, but they didn´t! I don´t get my hopes high right now, but it´s a pain waiting for Sega´s answer! It would be nice if they would just say, yes or no, so that nobody needs to have worrys anymore! OR MAYBE Sega is developing a Chao Garden in the background and they don´t know if they will include it yet, maybe that could be a reason for them keeping it a secret and not saying anything!
Didn´t that one guy said in an interview that he would talk about chao gardens and that stuff later near E3? E3 is over now, still no answer! This is so depressing! :(

@SaruSaru: Well, no one has said they won’t appear in Unleashed. We just don’t know yet. The general consensus seems to be that NO, they aren’t necessary, as you said.
but i mean i own sonic adventure 1 & 2. plus to be honest i could never be able to give any up because of the sad song and the little picture of a Chao heading to the cold dark mountains with a little travel sack and well you get what I mean.
I never saw what the big deal was about the Chao. I just couldn’t get into that when I played SA2. It seems too much like that Vitrual Pet fad back in the late 90s. If I wanted a pet, I’d get one in real life.
For some reason others have become obsessed with them, so I guess they’ll be part of the Sonic franchise unless the powers that be decide to give them the axe.

if they do have a chao gradan it will be the first time that they will be on xbox 360.

I hope Chaos are in this game. There is a chance that they will be in there as a cameo since they have that with many other things that Sonic appears in, although I hope we can raise them for fun.
On a slightly different note, I was just thinking about how awesome it would be if there were Thunder Storms or at least rain in this Sonic Unleashed and then have Snow Storms or even Blizzards in Snow levels. It would be awesome if they had some sort of setup where weather came and went and not just locked down to one area, like the Zelda games where it occasionally rained while running through Hyrule Field, but even locked to one area would be better than nothing if done impressively enough.
Oops, I meant Chao, not Chaos. I always think of the Chaos creature in Sonic Adventure when I see just Chaos.
I’d be thrilled to discover that there were Chao in Unleashed. Chao Gardens substantially boosted up the replayability of SA1 and SA2. When I found out that there were no Chao Gardens in Heroes, I was extremely disappointed, but still came to like the game.
Considering all of Hashimoto’s talk about balance, I wouldn’t be too surprised if Chao were included, since raising Chao is the ultimate counterweight to Sonic going at 300 mph in his action stages.
As for those saying that there most likely aren’t Chao Gardens in the game because the main game is single player, keep in mind that Chao raising could be called a minigame of sorts, opening up the possibility for other characters besides just Sonic to enter the gardens.
The lack of multiplayer does sort of worry me though (why have minigames with multiple characters at all if the whole game is single player?).
Chaos are necessary because in all the sonic adventure games they have a Chao Garden and the original name of Sonic Unleashed is Sonic world adventure isn’t it hmmm that makes me feel that there are going to be Chaos on the game somehow

Chao don’t make a Sonic game good. Sonic-styled platforming does that on its own. So, I can certainly live without them.

if there are chaos on sonic unleashed it would be cool that instead of buying in the black market shiny eggs that you could buy character eggs!!!! i would defenitley buy a shadow and knuckles egg they would look so cute
you guys make great points but for those of us who dont narrow our budget to only sonic games you can buy the new starwars game for any console: wii ps3 ps2 psp ds and 360 im excited are you?
i am worried right now with ps2 it seems they arent telling us much information about it

@RockerDuDe: Well, it’s also been confirmed that Sonic Unleashed has no relation to previous titles. I’m not arguing that it’s not possible, just that there is no way to know at this point.
Man, A chao would be great! I loved the one that was for SADX, it gave the game reply value because you had to play though the levels again to get little animals to give the Chao that skill.
I think it would be great if they do add it, or like what others have said, have it on a channel for the Wii, so you can go and check on it anytime.
But if they don’t add them, I’m still getting the game no matter what.
Well i realy think that chao should enter sonic unleashed but i will be very awesome that i could have a via transmicion Wii nintendo DS to exchange chao like sonic adventure DX and sonic adventure 2 battle

Wouldn’t it be so awesome if the Chao Garden was for the Wii version only?
Before you all rage on this, hear me out:
It would be another reason to get the Wii version of the game, and it could let you transfer your Chao data from the GC games, SADX and SA2B, via a GC memory card. Don’t forget compatibility to the GameBoy Advance Sonic games via a GC-GBA cable, making a triad of compatible systems for transfering Chao, the GC, GBA, and Wii.
Putting the Chao garden on XB360 and PS3 would only have the benefit of working with their versions, as no Sonic games with Chao Gardens were put on those systems or their predecessors, the Xbox and PS2.
However, if BOTH the PS2 and PS3 versions of Sonic Unleashed had Chao Gardens, their could be a slim chance of them being able to transfer between them. That is still slim though.
Thats why I think the Wii version should get the Chao Garden.
if sonic unleashed does not has chao i will buy Sonic and the Black Knight instead i have been thinking about it and is like a Legend of Zelda game but faster and i really looking forward for better graphics xD

he was asked if cool side stuff like chao’s and chao gardens will be in this game and he said again we will be talking about that at a later date (gamespot)
3. before Yoshihisa Hashimoto became the leader of Sonic Unleashed he worked his way up in SEGA from lead CHAO programmer (play magazine)
these are all little hints that chao could be in the game i mean when your the guy who organized chao world in SA series how can you just forget about them these are hopes im not sure if they’re gonna be in the game but so far they have confirmed there is no multiplayer other characters besides (sonic/werehog)dont play in the story mode so after all that why wouldnt they have confirmed chao to not be in the game if they werent?
