Sonic Unleashed… Box art?
Never trust a box folks.
Yesterday, MKSkillz sent us a link to Play.com showing off what might be the Sonic Unleashed Box art. While we always appreciate the heads up — we don’t always post about leads if there doesn’t seem to be enough substance behind them.
I think we might need to take a step back here. While this certainly looks compelling, I’m going to suggest that this might not be the official art for the game. It could be. But folks are jumping to conclusions it seems.
If you want my honest opinion, the “Box Art” in question looks like it could be a Photoshop mock-up. I know it’s on Amazon, so it must be official, right!? Well, not so much, as Amazon allows users to upload their own product images, and it’s not rare to see placeholders for upcoming games in online stores like this.
So in short, I don’t mean to be raining on this parade, but I do think we should take one tiny step back and wait for the official word from SEGA before making any final judgment calls here.

I really don’t want to be unpleasent in any way, but THAT COVER COMPLEATLY SUCKS!!! I mean, why the 3d render? I would love (and I bet most hedgehog lovers would to) to see the Sonic Adventure 1/2 2d kind of artwork… it was so stilish…
I SURELLY HOPE THAT’S FAKE… but knowing sega… it just makes me cry… ~.~

Well, an engine is a bit like scaffolding for a a video game. It has very definitive features, and can be built around to suit the producer’s needs. A Modified internal engine is an engine that has been changed, I think the hedgehog engine has been modified to suit the PS2 & Wii versions, and I have heard DIMPS is trying to replicate the Hedgehog Engine as closely as possible.
I am ALMOST CERTAIN this is the official box art, but you think by now that SEGA should’ve used the character/combo cover design LONG ago.
It seems like this game will have its faults (mostly the mini-games and voices, very possibly the online features) but it’ll do well in our hearts and SKYROCKET HIS SALES!
What? Darn, I missed by 3 messages or so. Oh well.
I DO agree that the Adventure style artwork should be used for the cover as they are trying to go back to the good Sonic days (where the only thing worse than Eggman was the camera).
@KC Cross: You mean like a first-person-narrative game? I suppose that COULD be possible…
Anyway, about the game cover…Heh heh, this is the SECOND dark-toned Sonic game cover next to Shadow the Hedgehog. The second people see this, they’d think “This Sonic game is not for kids.” I mean, you got to admit Shadow with a rocket launcher and Sonic the Werehog are scary, right? Haha…

@Sonicdude48: Uh, comparing the ratings of the PEGI to the ESRB, Sonic Unleashed will probably get an “E” rating. But then again, you never know…
You’ve got 3+, 7+, 12+, 16+ and 18+, which could be considered Early Childhood, Everyone, E10, Teen, and Mature.

this wont be the official one. The real art would never look like this……dunno it looks so strange somehow :O
i hope SU doesn’t take a lot to load. not like other games that u start the mission, it loads, u finish the mission, it loads, u press start, it loads. God that’s so lame…
I’ve been lurking every sonic board on the internet and there are no screenshots of Sonic or were-sonic in those positions.
Face it, that’s the real European box art.
(Sonic with a sword!?!?!? It’s a shop!!! I can tell from the pixels and from seeing alot of shops in my time!!!)

That’s because it’s squeezed at Play.com via default. All other sites don’t show it. Remember, PS3 boxes are wider.
@KC Cross: No, the human nature is if something is different, we’re afraid by it, being afraid, we hide it with hatred for it. Take Sonic Unleashed for example: most people who hate it probably are afraid of it because it’s taking something that we wanted for some time, and twisting it to make it different. Most people are afraid of changes, and convey their true feelings by masking it with hate. That is what I believe is the human nature, lol.
But whatever, Black Knight won’t have my full attention until Unleashed comes out possibly, though I hope they’ll have enough time to make it a good installment to the Sonic franchise. But then again, I might be asking for too much! :D

wat do u think the sidequest qith the other characters r gonna be about???????? i keep thinking over and over. i mean, u won’t use knuckles to gather master emaralds… would u? lol i mean, does anyone know wat the sidequests r all about?
@someone: i think it’s gonna end up like this your gonna get specific missions for any given character to do something so maybe u could enter a fight or go through a mini stag e with knuckles or fly around the town stages to complete missions with tails or something we will be able to unlock mini games and mini stages throughout the game this is when other characters are used and the town stages sound like a good place to play other characters imagine exploring the town with a sorta birds eye view with tails? or gliding and climbing over buildings with knuckles maybe even replaying sonic stages with shadow who could have a boost again you never know but we’ll find out soon enough

every time i see the box art it looks better but i think SEGA could have done a better job its almost the same of mario and sonic at the olympic games :S but anyway its good xD

i highly doubt this is the real box art, NEVER have i seen a rating of 7+…..it seems odd.

On sega.com it shows screenshots of sonic unleashed for all four systems and they all look the same to me.

i’m pretty sure all those pics are the same
but its fact that the graphics are gunna be different
so yeah.
