As many readers pointed out, the box art shown the other day on sites such as Amazon and Play.com seems to be the real deal. It now proudly sits on SEGA’s own Sonic Unleashed Product page — just waiting to be collectively grabbed by fans all around the world come November.
What’s more is that they have also graced their Sonic Unleashed product page with a brand new image of Sonic and the Werehog. I haven’t been able to find any other changes aside from that, but I’ve hardly slept in days, so it might be worth a look.

A terribly coloured manga page! The backstory is that this is the second time Fluffy’s visited Amy. He gestures to his back, but she phrases things badly. And the aftermath involves Fluffy and Amy running into a fire caused by a badnik.
I remember Sonic & Knuckles for the Genesis, how simple the cover was. It was kind of cheap compared to the other covers, but the game was awesome. I wont judge a book by the cover. If the game is as good as it looks then SEGA deserves great praise from the fans and from the critics.
Yeah, i like the picture. But as box art . . . i dont think so. They could have alot more stuff in the background, and more vibrant, standing out thing, in the picture itself.

I was surfing wikipedia and was looking through the old Sonic Adventure games. And the foreign versions of the game had the same type of rating on the box, a number with a plus. I know wikipedia is hard to trust but the old games had it. And when i searched Sonic unleashed on wikipedia, it had this very picture. Unfortunate news for some of you, good for others. I guess we’ll just have to learn to trust it.

The gameplay varies from looking cool(wave ocean) to looking slow(ocean base,sonic is S-L-O-W).
But the whole gameflow looks awful when compared to unleashed.
I guess saying this won’t offend even the most hardcore of sonic fans.Unleashed is that kind of a step forward,I hope.

I don’t find it that annoying though, but a lot of people do. But yeah, dun’ worry about it, it’ll change by the time they are done with the game.
I’d definitely prefer it if the boxart was somehow like the PSM3 cover. Sonic hedgehog and werehog running side-by side, in a split-screen with day in one side and night on the other.
This boxart is weird. I like the colors in the background, they’re awesome, but we can only see the werehog’s mouth. It looks like the hedgehog has big fangs in his mouth, which is almost all the time on the side of the muzzle, not the center. It’s just awkward. And scary. But, you know, I’ll have to get used to the idea.
Nice promo art in the american site. I like it a lot. In fact, either this, the PSM3 cover, or the first promo we’ve ever seen (Sonic in London with the werehog appearing behind him) would be just swell for the actual boxart. But slightly changed, of course.
When will we have access to all these new artworks? Right now, we only have one of Sonic’s poses. There are two more, and two artworks of the werehog. And, who knows, maybe there will be more in the future.

I think 30fps is much better, makes the game look more stable. Sonic Adventure was 30fps, when they did the port and made it 60fps, its ran bad.
It depends a bit of how it delivers the speed.

who cares if the graphics on the wii version “dont match up” to the PS360 versions all i care about is if on the wii version its like this:
1. the graphics are at least satsr level
2. replay value is high
3. chao gardens
4. gameplay is as fun as satsr (hard to match)
5. the engine it uses still lets you go 300mph or 200mph somewhere inbetween
6. it doesnt suck eggs to a point of pure *BLEEP*
7. the story is awesome and relatively easy to follow

I don’t get the Sonic hate from the media…only one game has recieved uniform negative press. Shadow had mixed reviews, Heroes was considered good but dissapointing (scores in the 7’s, generally) and the Adventure titles recieved good reviews. So did Secret Rings and the Rush/Advance games. Whether or not you like these games, only one of them was a commercial failure without any real success.
Compare that with…Tomb Raider, who everyone is going nuts over. That franchise had a similar fall from grace, including an anticipated sequal that was buggy and full of terrible glitches(stuck in walls, instant death etc). I realize Crystal Dynamics has revived the series, but even before that I never saw them treat that franchise as harshly. And it didn’t even have half the track record.
I really despise bad journalism.

@someone: Ah, I remember that back when the game details were leaked ALL the way back. If they had copy and pasted the ENTIRE thing, you could’ve smelt the sarcasm in his statement from a mile waway. That was just Svend/Dreadknux being the king of wishful thinking.
Making an assumption that a new character would be in the game based on previous trends. Maybe Chip will be in the game, maybe he won’t, we honestly don’t know at this point.
@umiyuri: That’s Game Radar for ya. *sigh* Shadow’s game got decent reviews (8.0!) from Gametrailers.com and Nintendo Power, and PLAY Magazine gave Sonic ‘06, the XBOX 360 version a 9.5, but put it down to 8.5 because the final copy did not fix the load times and glitches that were in the review copy. They ended up giving the Playstation 3 version a 5.5 because the load times and glitches weren’t fixed and it actually ran SLOWER.
Nintendo Power tends to give Sonic games decent reviews, which is…sort of ironic when you think about it. Honestly, we CAN’T give up hope. This game looks more promising whenever something new comes out about it and…well, if they don’t like it, they had plenty of chances to leave for greener pastures.
I hate when people listen to reviews, good or bad.

hey there has been new information flying around that fang the sniper is returning in sonic unleashed. Hes hired ( it dosent say by whom) to kill the werehog. He is promised the chaos emeralds in return.
for those americans who don’t like the cover… it’s the european cover, so it might change. and for those who do like it… it’s probably not gonna change. lol
I also found that the monster egg man unleashes is called dark gala and has something to do with the chaos emeralds like chaos and it also has its own super form. Theres still more. If you want to see it all its at the sonic family.com on the forums somewhere.

@King Roamer: You don’t usually see drawn artwork on box covers anymore, so I think that is less “SEGA being SEGA” and more “a common trend in the industry”. There are still drawn artworks on the covers of some games, but more and more games are sticking to CG renders for the covers.
So, these “minigames” are essentially Sky Chase levels with Tails either shooting at stuff in the Tornado or Sonic on the wings bopping enemies? Well, this makes me a whole lot comfortable about the minigame thing…and nostalgic. <33

Whew hello everyone computer been dead for days.
I quite liked this boxart looked pretty cool. But sonic 06’s cover remains the coolest by far.
If SU is to release on Nov 18th in america/europe any ideas when it could release in australia? Do video games normally have a large gap inbetween america/australia releases?

new consoles such as the 360 and ps3 have made us appreciate wii graphics less and less which is stupid . the wii has perfect gaming graphics. gamecompanies just dont get that they’re all like ooh the wii cant handle graphics engines half as powerful as thwe 360 ones…. blah blah!!!blah!!! it sickens me to hear things of this sort. especially when said company knows the full potential of the wii. im not saying its as powerful graphics wise but EVERYTHING ELSE KICKS the 360 and the ps3 right off their thrones and puts wii WAY up there!! There’s really no way to know what the gap will be. Sega seems to be planning to release in North America and Japan near the same time(at least, we’ve only been hearing one release date so far for both). I’d guess the PAL version wouldn’t be released after Christmas, and Austrailia’s release date often coincides with Europe.
Usually the biggest problem is with localization…particuarly text heavy RPG’s or games with expansive nostalgia(like how Nintendo had to localize so MUCH for the european market when releasing Brawl).

but Sonic Adventure was a good game.
Almost as good as SA2.
Both had good storylines, & i liked how u could walk around & interact with the town and find emblems and stuff
@sonic 06: Well that was random. Um . . . It was entertaining. Also the first of the Sonic Adventure series, which i love. It introduced a new style of gameplay to the Sonic franchise. It was also the first Sonic game where you could play as multiple different characters. It had a Chao Garden which scored it lots of replay value. Overall, i would probably give it an 8/10 for its fresh new style.

@sonic 06: Well, if you dont have it, i would strongly advise it. It has a good, strong, long story. It’s fun to see how the Sonic Adventure game is. I garuntee youll be playing it for hours on end, even after you beat the story.

So, what does Umi have? Umm, Sonic Rush, Sonic Rivals (but I don’t have the sequels), SA:DX(PC), SA2B, both Sonic Riders, SATSR, Sonic Heroes(PS2), Sonic Mega Collection+(PC), Shadow the Hedgehog(PS2), Mario & Sonic and Brawl.
The best one? I dunno. The one I’m best at? Sonic Riders: Shooting Star Story. I refuse to call it by the name on the cover.

Quick qeustion: Is it true there will only be 9 levels? Sonic had more than 9 levels on his own in Sonic Adventure. Surely this is completely wrong.

Yea there are 9 levels, but each level has a day and night stage. So 18 levels

did u know that fang the sniper is called Nack the Weasel in america?????????? fang the sniper is the japanese name… it is way cooler than nack, lol. but sega kinda did a mistake and named him fang the weasel in some american games, lol. i hope super sonic is playable on the boss areas, and wat do u guys think the other 2 levels r gonna be about? i mean, there are 7 chaos emeralds, so ther’s 7 continents, 7 shrines. but there r still other 2 levels… and i read that there won’t be any space levels… do u think u might have to get the master emerald as well???? and then mayb turning into hyper sonic??????? either way, i think that the last lvl’s gonna be wherever that creature unleashed by eggman is, so maybe there’s “a journey to the center of the earth.” lol, that would be so coooooooooooool. and if u do need the master emerald than knuckles would make perfect sense. but i’m feeling uneasy ’bout shadow and amy… as long they don’t go IN the story and stay within the minigames… i’m ok. i would really like looking for the master emerald pieces with knuckles, and i look forward to flying around with tails…. and by the way……

@WiiFP: hyper sonic is silver solored, faster, has a homing attack, can only be used when the chaos emeralds r supercharged by the master emerald, which cinverts them to super emeralds. hyper sonic has some sort of stars around him that home on enemys and kills them as soon as they appear on screen. in other words… hyper sonic is better than super sonic. but he only appeared on sonic 3 and knuckles (although i think he also was on sonic 3)

I dont think there will be a demo for PS2 or Wii but who knows? lol

Sonic Unleashed is an upcoming video game and is the next game in the Sonic series. The game is due to be released in November. Here’s some details on the game.
Sonic and his Werehog self will be the only playable characters. You can unlock a super form for both variations of Sonic. Eggman will be the main villain from start to finish, he’s not totally in control towards the end but suddenly turns the tables. In previous games he loses control of the situation at the very last moment.
Tails will pilot the original Tornado for Sonic. One of the funnier scenes involves Sonic turning into a Werehog on the Tornado.
With regards to characters in Sonic Unleashed, the following characters will not appear in any form; Eggman Nega, Cream, Silver, Big and Omega. Team Chaotix will make a cameo, and have a semi-important yet quick role.
There is a new character that will appear in the game, also a returning character. The new character is a cute helper and has a name that seems to have a relationship with the Chaos Golem. The returning character is called Fang the Sniper. He’ll be reinvented like the Chaotix were when they were reintroduced in Sonic Heroes. Fang the Sniper is hired to destroy the Werehog with the promise that he can get the Emerals from his dead body. He becomes an occasional rival in three or four boss battles. In their final battle, he reaches the last Emerald before Sonic and has an adverse effect.

@someone: You know, it would be vital to have Amy in the story. Even if you really didn’t like it, Amy would have to know about Sonic’s condition and SEGA would probably have wanted to explore their relationship now that Sonic has a good, valid reason to avoid the girl and, also, whether Amy would accept the condition or not.
I also imagine Shadow to have a role similar to Fang, except he’d be employed by GUN under the assumption that the strange creature was not Sonic and was there to attack the people of the world (hence the Guardian Unit would be on their toes). The black hedgehog spends the next few days stalking Fluffy over the world. Shadow’s only response when he discovered that Sonic is Fluffy is to smuggle him out of there with a promise that next time, he’d be ordered to shoot again, but he wouldn’t miss. (Sonic and Shadow have a weird love-hate relationship, I can assume from Next-Gen and Rivals.)

@…: Lookin’ Good! You have to remeber these are Static, out-of-resolution shots, they’ll look better in the actual game. I like the Wii control scheme, where you have to move the Wii remote up and down to make the Werehog climb. Still amazing scenery, I wonder if the PS2 version will look like this too?

This game looks too good to be true. Sonic Unleashed looks awesome. It looks like the ranking system is easier, the person died once, and still pulled off an S rank. Awesome game if its easy to get a good score, makes you want to play it more.

he roughly beat the level in 4 minutes… well i suppose since its the demo their keeping bits of the level for the final version but compare it to the gamespot one so many differences and improvements
