New Sonic Unleashed Scans from ONM
The November 2008 issue of Official Nintendo Magazine had several pages dedicated to Sonic Unleashed, complete with wonderful new screenshots of the blue blur.
We’d like to personally thank Nicholas Brown for sending the scans in our direction. He’s also included a Sonic Unleashed Poster scan from another recent issue for the die-hard fans!
Check out the New ONM Sonic Unleashed Scans below:

These pictures are awesome seen them too
Cool, these look great! Thanks for posting them David! I thought they were going to be all grainy, my scanner sucks! =(
What? Are they saying they think the Wii version is better?
I am reading things like “wider levels” and that there werewolf parts are “less mindless.”
I guess there will be differences after all. If Sonic Unleashed is good, Sonic communities can finally have “good flamewars.” “360 version is better! No! Wii version is better!”
Those are the kind of flamewars that won’t hurt the Sonic community at all.
Wow. They have assured us that the wii version would be great. Hmm…i wonder if i should get it also?
Okay, the Wii version is more “open” and seems to be more focused on exploration. Even the night segments, due to less enemies…I’m sure there will be more stage hazards and platforming tricks. Sounds good. Wheras the 360/PS3 versions will be more linear(with alternmate paths focused on QTE’s as opposed to drifts and branching areas). And the night section is more combat intensive(and more linear as well? Unknown).
I’m using the GCN controller though, forget all those gimmicky movements.
@Crazee:
@Crazee:
Is there more exploration in the Wii version, or is it just wider?
Has anyone seen that video where someones playing the Sonic Unleashed Demo and they sukk at it?
Its funny

You know, we all knew the Wii and PS2 versions wouldn’t sport the same graphical prowess as its bigger cousins but holy crap, the lack of even 2x anti-aliasing, the low resolution graphics designed for 480i just look downright barf inducing :x
THANKFULLY though, it all boils down to Gameplay. All we care about is that Sonic sports enough polygons for smooth looking animation, all the soft shadows and kilometers of scenery in the world cant fix sloppy gameplay mechanics.
Also thankfully it looks like this game, both in normal speed and werehog sections, looks super splick to control and play.
i honestly cannot wait.
@KC Cross:
KC cross, how long do uou rhink you would make it in Sonic Unleashed before you lose for the first time?
I normally lose atleast once in the first level, but in every game I make that a challenge. Maybe Sonic Unleashed is harder than some people thought?
AHHHHH!!!! Wii VERSION!!! IT HURTS MY EYES!!!!!
@JuicyNuggets: :lol: :lol: :lol:
That was foolish for you to say, and pathetic!
The Wii version looks awesome
Got the magazine on Saturday. [Free coasters! :D]
I also got the SU poster in the last issue, it only had the first leaked bit of rendered artwork on it. Still, it’s up on my wall. :)
I think the Wii graphics are looking pretty good. I’m getting the PS2 version, so I’m not going to complain. XD
A friend of mine told me that Sonic transforms into the Incredible Hulk in this game. is that true?
@offended: Have you gotten any game updates outside this blog at ALL?
Anyway, the Wii version is AWESOME to me now!
offended:No It refers to the werehog
@Sonication: Hey, that was foolish of you to say that it was foolish of me. Seriously, whats with all the foolishness, fool? PWND
@JuicyNuggets: Congratulations, you’re the master of spewing nonsense. I will laugh at your comment from miles away now! :lol:
@Sonication:
Watch it, buddy. JuicyNuggets happens to be a friend of mine.
He is a friend of mine because he likes nuggets, and that makes him cool. Anyway, I can’t wait to play Sonic Unleashed, transform into the Hulk, and fight Captain America (or whoever it is that Hulk Sonic fights.)
@Sonication: Are we fighting or something? I just said those things because I was bored. Reality, I was gonna get the Wii version, but I got a 360 for Tales of Vesperia (got a 360 for a JRPG?!?!?), so I have gotten so used to the force feeding of the 360/PS3 versions, the Wii version is shocking to me, but I am pretty sure it will sell just as good if not better than the 360/PS3 versions. Sorry for bothering your high quality of comments, Sonication.
Whats up with everyone calling each other fools
@JuicyNuggets: Oh, I thought you were attacking the Wii! I am sorry for my actions toward you then. :wink:
@Sonication: Oh, of course not! I love my Wii, this is truly the only Wii game I was looking forward to getting this year. But then I heard they were making a Mario Galaxy sequel and another Zelda game, so I said “sonic the who?” This will probably be the best Wii game this year, its just upsetting to know that it won’t have all the bells and whistles like the other versions. :(
@JuicyNuggets: Heh, I understand you. Again, I apologize. :wink:
@Sonication:
I forgive you. Next time, bring the sauce.
@Juicy McNuggets: :lol: Okay! Will do! You want barbecue sauce?
Thanks a lot David Legget! I will spread the word around about these scans.
@Sonication: Hey man, stop jackin my name!
Yo, Sonication! Wussup, man?
im getting the 360 and wii version
@SLJCOAAATR / Soul: YOU AGAIN? :mad:
I am getting the game for the wii when it comes out
OMG IM GETTING I WAS ALREADY BUT BUT..OMG IM GETTING THIS AHHHHH
@zkid: zkid, do you copy? zkid, zkid, zzzzzzzzzzzkkkkkkiiiiidddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To much for you, eh?
It’s nice to have some new screen shots to look at, but I still want a new trailer. It’s also nice that everyone is liking the sound of this Sonic game, but I still shake my head that people have to say that Sonic is going down hill and needs a game to bring it back to its roots. Phrases that point to needing the basics and will this Sonic game be its come back are really aggravating. I try to ignore them now though, after all, I know the game will be good because there hasn’t been a truly bad Sonic game in my opinion. I just wish for an underwater 3D level in the future for Sonic. I don’t think Sonic would agree with me though.
There’s something new up on the Sonic World Adventure site (Topics button works now), but I’m not exactly sure what it is. It has pictures of long-sleeved shirts that have Hedgehog and Werehog on them, and it mentions Crush 40.
there are some more greece level videos at tssznews
Wow, didn’t expect an update so soon. Great scans guys.
Oh snap! There is a glitch in the level. We’re all dead!
I RESERVED MINE FOR THE PS2 AND ITS $29.99
Awesome! some scans up! woot!
lol SOUL
Ok…
I think I’ve made up my mind on the version I’ll get.
I’m getting the WII version.
even though the graphics won’t be as good, the gameplay sounds good (especially Werehog gameplay)! Sounds almost like Wii-Boxing! :)
45th comment…my favourite number!
@ very offended: Well, wider areas is more room to run around.
Looking at the new tssz videos…branching paths ftw. That level looks huge, I quiet a few areas where the player could have taken a left turn, gone up or down, etc. It’s not just QTE’s. When I get my hands on it, I’ll explore the level a lot.
And no, the level isn’t hard. Those mistimed jumps were terrible. At least they were obviously mistimed, not “landing on platform and then running too far and falling off”. That killed Heroes for me.
Did you guys see that glitch video from tssz.com? It seems kind of minor, but it’s the first major glitch we’ve seen. Those kinds of glitches are inevitable in pre-releases…heck, even in finals. But still, we’ve seen mostly smooth action with good collision detection. The rails looked smooth…at least compared to jumping rails in Heroes or ‘06.
I like the werehog idea in the game, it’s just that the werehog for the wii looks weird with those white lines in his fur.
XD the last one hog wild, sounds like a crash bandicoot reference, wellsome of the game is 2.5 d like crash games XD(well the old ones) looks like an awesome game really want a wii now!
Sounds really interesting so far. Werehog should shape up if there is enough variety…
Also, where is the scans of the poster? I don’t see them. D:
