Did Sonic and the Black Knight Suck?
Pardon our dust, we’re wondering what everyone thought of Sonic’s latest installment, Sonic and the Black Knight.
The games been out for a good month now, and we want to get an idea of what the Sonic community thought about it. Was it any better than Sonic Unleashed? About the same? Was it one of Sonic’s less proud moments?

last i heard about project needlemouse was that its on XBLA and PSN and that you start out in splash hill zone and finish in egg station zone+ the game might have special zones for chaos emeralds

yea i know i was hoping it would be on a disc.
@kwami: Mmm, I still only have that PS2 and there is no way that I’m getting a 360/PS3 for one lone Sonic game, no matter how good it’s supposedly gonna be. Those consoles just don’t have enough games that interest me.
@kwami: You know, even though some, if not all, of that is probably true, none of it is confirmed yet. We just have to wait and see. I hope it’s on disc just so that it will likely be a large game. Download only games tend to be short, not that there hasn’t been short games on disc. I’ll just wait and see what happens. I think I can hope for a decent 2D water level at least.
My main annoyance is that it is only going to be Sonic playable. Shame really, I really wanted to play Tails more… and it isn’t because he can fly. I just enjoy the little fox more than Sonic. We might be able to unlock playing other characters, but that probably won’t happen if it is PSN/XBLA only I think.

yea im hoping its not true and i was kinda disappointing that sonic was the only playable character too since i like having the chance to play as other characters(except big).I always liked playing as shadow and amy in sonic games.

do you have a wii cause if u dont i would definately consider getting an xbox 360 cause i have both versions of sonic unleashed and they are pretty different also maybe sonic the hedgehog i liked it once i got used to the speed or i might just be because blinded by my love for sonic games
@kwami: Nah, I don’t have a wii. Even so, three Sonic games still isn’t much to make me get a 360- the rest of the games on there all seem to be fps and suchlike and I’m not a big fan of those. Meanwhile, there are countless games on the wii that I want, plus it’s cheaper.
@kwami: You like playing as Amy? Wow, thought I wouldn’t hear that comment, but that’s good. Controlling wise, she is a decent character, but her personality bothers me a bit. That, and she is pink, one of my least favorite colors.
I enjoy playing as other characters too. I didn’t enjoy playing as Big or Cream, but I did enjoy at least testing them out. Cream is just a bit too much of a Tails clone if you know what I mean. My favorite characters to play are Tails and Shadow, followed closely by Knuckles then Sonic. I would say Silver is probably my third favorite character to control, but with him only in one game, I don’t know. I’m not sure if he could be turned into a good 2D game character to control with his ability and all. It would be nice to test it though.

i dont know why but i always liked playing as amy in sonic riders i also like silver but some people not really sure why.

Has anyone seen the sneak peek trailer released today? I am so relieved that Sonic wasn’t designed as the sprites used in Sonic 1 through Sonic and Knuckles. I was so concerned about that. I have nothing against the visuals back then, it would just make me think they are trying to hard to satisfy the people stuck in the past.

@Trigger: Well, if you got a Wii you could download it at least. Better than nothing. I am getting it for my PS3 when it comes out. I like the PS3 controller better for games like this.

yea personally i like the ps3 controller the most out of all the controllers.
For anyone curious. The Sonic Stadium put up two articles showing hard to spot things in that teaser trailer.
One is a possible sneak peek at the special stages the other one is showing a star post and sonic grabbing onto a pulley of some sort. Here’s a link to the pulley one since that is hard to see even as stills.

apparently there is a rumor that sonic will be in super mario galaxy 2 which would be interesting but its probably nothing more than a rumor.

@kwami: Yeah, I read that and I don’t believe it. If it was a cameo or small one time control, then maybe, but this doesn’t sound like that. I will be greatly surprised if it turns out to be more than that, if anything at all.

Hmm. Skeptical on the SMG2+Sonic thing but if it is true, Nintendo had better return the favour.
its kind of annoying how everyone thinks if sonic is in galaxy it would ruin the game even though it would only be in one galaxy and the game would obviously still be made by nintendo. It feels like when people see sonic in a game they automatically think its going to be a bad game especially die hard mario fans who are blinded by their infatuation with mario.
@kwami: I stopped reading comments awhile ago because they have been so blindly stupid a lot recently. I do read them for a laugh sometimes though. I think if Sonic is indeed in the game like they said, it depends on how they set the controls. I liked Mario 64 and I would be willing to try it again maybe with something like that in it. Don’t really know though. I will have to wait and see.
@Trigger: Well, I can’t be 100% certain, but I believe the ipod touch can play iphone games if you kept up with firmware patches and, if any, downloaded the right support packages to support it. I recommend looking into it a bit before actually trying it though. I don’t use those kind of things so I can only go with what I have read and heard from places.

About them using Sonic’s current design, I just saw someone on another site complaining that they didn’t go back to Sonic’s original design. He seem to act like it ruined the game already. But I’m not here to complain about the fans again. His reaction was actually pretty funny to me.
I’m not that happy that the game is being called Sonic the Hedgehog 4, but it could be worse, I guess. Plus I don’t like how I have to download it, since I still don’t have an appropriate conncetion for downloading WiiWare or PlayStation Network games, so I probably won’t be playing it anytime soon.
I’m also relieved that it won’t look like Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles graphics wise. Graphics don’t make the game, but it would seem like its trying too hard to appeal to old-school fans. And that quote about Sonic’s speed from Sega. As someone who loved the Boost ability in Sonic Rush, Rush Adventure, and Unleashed, I did really like that quote. There is something rewarding about that sort of speed.
Barring that the game will be badly developed, and between that quote, the fact Sonic is only playable character, and the fact the game will feature old-school badniks, it seems like so far, they are really trying to appeal to old-school fans, but not going overboard at the same time.

Apologies for the double post, but I wanted to make sure it’s clear that regarding that partition, the person did word it very politely and what it is asking is perfectly possible. I just thing it’s really sad that things like this pop up.

Enjoy reading the small amount of logic it has in all the egotistical nonsense he says. I only skimmed it, but it seems that he talks as if he can justify hating the game because he can make a Sonic fan game that he would enjoy…
He does make a few good points… and then blows it completely out of proportions in my opinion.

@kwami: Oh, from what I understand it could be a few things. Most people are upset because sonic is not black eyed and rounder. Some people go as far as complaining it isn’t the old style like they did in Mega Man 9. The other most common complaint is that Sonic can never be as good as the old. “He’s dead” in their eyes and they are complaining for Sega trying to please them without caving in completely. Some are also complaining because Sega caved in.
The main reason though is that people love to complain. It’s really as simple as that.
I guess some people just cant be pleased.
So yeah, Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing with Banjo Kazooie demo was pretty good. Love ya Xbox Live. It’s sad how Banjo can go faster than Sonic though…..
