Did Sonic and the Black Knight Suck?
Pardon our dust, we’re wondering what everyone thought of Sonic’s latest installment, Sonic and the Black Knight.
The games been out for a good month now, and we want to get an idea of what the Sonic community thought about it. Was it any better than Sonic Unleashed? About the same? Was it one of Sonic’s less proud moments?

@Kwami: Red ring of death? I remember I had to send mine to Sydney :( it took three weeks to get there and back. And I had to go through that about four times I think… Thankfully, neither of our 2 consoles show signs of mucking up again.

@kwami: lol, I was going to go mention that here after waiting awhile since I thought it might be taken down quickly. It looks visually nice, I just hope it is more than 4 levels long in the final build. I noticed that in one of the screen shots it had slots for all 7 emeralds and it made me wonder if Sonic 4 episode 1 is indeed only 4 levels, are all chaos emeralds going to be obtainable right away or do you need to get future episode releases to get them all? I would assume the later since it wouldn’t make much sense for 4 levels to have seven emeralds in my opinion, but I think it would be nice to be able to obtain them all right in the first episode, especially if you can go super through the levels upon replay. :D I kinda hope that down the road they’ll bring back Hyper Sonic, I don’t know why, since it was basically the same thing except image and the double jump ability, but I liked that form a lot better than Super.

im hoping that it does have more than 4 zones too but i guess even if it doesn’t there are still 12 levels you could get an emerald in and hopefully the special stages will be fun.
@kwami: That’s assuming that each area has 3 acts and depending on how they do things, the act that has the boss may not have the ability to collect emeralds. Giving only 8 chances if there is indeed 4 levels with three acts, which still is enough room now that you put it into numbers, it’s still close.
I read something recently which implies all emeralds should be obtainable. The last level is supposedly something with the word egg if I remember correctly and it probably won’t be available until you can go super I am guessing. I hope the special stages are fun to play to.

It has some interesting things mentioned in it, but I would take it with a grain of salt, after all, he clearly despises what it reminds him of and that usually means he only noticed what he didn’t like. He may even have exaggerated some points because of how much he seem to despise what he compared it to. Sonic Advance 2 was a fun game, which is what he says it is identical too.
I am going to wait and play it for myself. No review is going to make me like or dislike a game before I see more and possibly give it a try.
I don’t know when it will be confirmed or not but the guy who made the writing may have lied that he played the game at all or a near complete one anyways. I don’t care if it turns out real or fake, I still plan to play the game. I just figured I would mention the possibility of it being false.

honestly i dont believe that he played the final build of the game even if it is esrb rated it was probably the same alpha build from the leaked video so im not gonna judge it till i play it.
@kwami: I can believe he may have gotten the alpha build. If he did, he certainly is creating a lot of conclusions from things that shouldn’t be concluded yet.
I agree with you. I am not going to judge it before I play it either.
the only bad thing that i see about the game is the jumping and it will probably be fixed in the final version.

@kwami: Yeah, I read that before coming here. It almost clearly points out that he didn’t play a close to final build of the game. I am beginning to think that maybe he didn’t quite translate things properly when he wrote that out. I hope they fix the jumping problem if it is indeed as bad as he says it is.
I am going to wait for the next trailer, which I hope will be out soon, which I doubt.

Yeah, I don’t think we’ll get a new trailer next month though. I don’t know for sure, but download only games don’t seem to get many trailers. The Rocket Knights Adventure game that I am looking forward to this fall is online download and they only have one trailer out. Then there is a few game play things I have, but those don’t count as trailers.

@kwami: I agree they look a bit on the fake side, but they apparently been proven real. I haven’t read the comments because I am fairly certain it’s only going to be complaining about how the boss was already used and how the levels all look similar.
I hope there is more variety in the later acts, but what ever the case, I still want to play it. It doesn’t matter too much to me if it looks like they reused a lot of images and enemies as long as it is actually new levels and it’s fun to play. Of course, it will be slightly disappointing if it is extremely identical through all levels. I’m sure you know what I mean.

im kind of interested in seeing the labyrinth stage and hopefully the other stages will be more unique although i wouldnt really care if there wasnt much new in this game
@kwami: Yes, the labyrinth stage. I want to see that level too. I always enjoyed the water levels the most and so I am very interested in this zone. I hope they have some tricky spots where it’s hard to keep yourself from drowning. That’s something that’s been missing from all the current Sonic games, places where you could drown easily. It actually takes conscious effort for me to drown in the current games.
Looks like the price for Sonic 4 may have been leaked. I wouldn’t count it as reliable though. Even if it’s download only $5 doesn’t sound like much for a full game. I certainly will pick it up regardless. Here’s a link to it:

Excellent game! I have Sonic Black Knight! the only problem is VERY SHORT…. but the game have excellent graphics and history.
@kwami: I need to find a way to get the PS3 version cheaper than it currently is going at, but I have been playing the demo and I want the full game so bad.

i have the 360 version and i love all the songs it has and the online play i just hate it when people pick shadow online cuz then i cant play as him.
@kwami: lol I would pick Shadow the most too, but I don’t play online so I don’t have anything to worry about. I am pretty easy going, if my younger sister or anyone else in my family wants to play as the character I would prefer, I just pick my second choice which would be Shadow or Tails depending on my mood. Tails is my favorite character, but Shadow is a close second and I like motorcycles.

Even though I don’t play online, how is the online racing? I don’t do online for many reasons, but the main reason is that things seem always so disorganized and confusing for me. I might consider trying online for this game since I don’t need to pay for online gaming on the PS3 I think. I just need to know if it’s worth learning to play online when everyone probably would play better than me.

playing online is fun and has absolutely no problems as long as you can drift it is pretty easy to get in 1st-4th.the only complaint some people have is the lack of all star moves online.

Hey Kwami, I have another question for you that may be a bit noobish. I get friend requests even though I only go online to download demos and extensions for games and I delete those requests, but what do you think I should do with ones that I get from people I have played with for just one race? I really never do online stuff so I don’t get this friend request thing too well and I don’t know if it really makes sense to start accepting these friend requests when my PS3 is not connected to the internet 99% of the time. It doesn’t help that my PSN name is stupid. I can’t change it either.

honestly i never add people i have just played with in one game and if you are never online its really just a waste of time.
@kwami: Okay, thanks again. That’s what I was thinking. I don’t get why people send friend invites to someone when the two have never interacted with each other. Now I just have to wait for the PSN clock thing to get fixed that just propped up today. My system was affected because I actually have the PS3 that has backwards compatibility with most PS1 and PS2 games. That current consoles don’t have backwards compatibility with the PS2. Nothing bad has happened to it, but I really don’t want it to break, so I just am going to play on my PC, DS or Wii until it’s fixed.

One of the achievements is to beat all acts as Super Sonic. Maybe there is hope for Hyper Sonic to return in the next episode. I have extreme doubts of that happening though.
